Best channel from RU-vid about Camera/Fuji ! Thanks for all information, I learn twice watching your videos, I learn english and about camera hahahahah, From BRAZIL !!
I normally shoot to Capture One tethered via USB cable. I setup my X-H2 for wireless tethering to C1 today with no connection problems. Shot for a couple of hours and was super happy to not have to work with a cable dangling out of the side of the camera. Every file transferred seamlessly and could be checked in detail in C1 on my big monitor immediately to make adjustments to settings for the next shot as necessary. Thanks for the tips! I also learned something that might be helpful to pass along. While creating a new lighting setup I took a bunch of test shots while adjusting multiple lights and turned off C1 because there was no need to clutter my hard drive with the test shots. I simply looked at each shot on the camera's screen as I took them. After a while, when I decided to play a series of files back via the play button on the camera, the camera gave me a notice that it was waiting to transfer the files. (It also gave an option to cancel the pending transfer if I wanted.) Just to see what would happen, I launched C1 again and all the test shots that had been taken while C1 was turned off streamed into the computer. I learned that you need to remember to switch the Wi-Fi connection off in the camera's menu to work "normally" again. This also taught me that as long as the camera doesn't get turned off the files will be held for transfer until the connection to the software is restored. I also checked after the session and saw that every file I shot was recorded on the memory card in addition to being streamed to the computer so I now have some peace of mind regarding possible loss of files while tethering wirelessly.
So happy to see this video and both excited and apprehensive to try it. Wireless connections with Fuji has been nothing but challenging for me. I would love to see a video about using their regular app. That app is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating!!!
Thank you for this clear and straightforward guide! I love how you talk about all the nuances during the process that answer all of the questions I was coming up with while watching the video. Love it ❤
This is super cool and thanks as always for such a detailed video. Not saving to the memory card is a deal breaker for me though. Can't risk that with clients. When I tether to C1, one of the things I love is that my XT5 saves to the card and to my Macbook.
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial! I spent an entire evening successfully connecting my X-H2S wirelessly to C1. Your video would have saved me quite a bit of time. However, it still contained many valuable tips for me as well. I discovered your channel only a few days ago and am thrilled by the didactically high-caliber way in which you convey even the most complex contexts. You have an admirable talent here, which brings people forward worldwide. With great compliments from Germany
excelent video as always, I have just got this working with the x-acquire route, and is an excellent way to see how much i am going to use it, before trying any paid for route like the teher tools smart shooter software, many thanks again. Keep up the great Fuji content.
Thanks for doing such a thorough video! After your first description of how to set this up in your CaptureOne 16.2 release video I did already get it working and ... indeed I did lose some photos when the camera lost wifi connection at some point! Oops! I also found the transfer to be very slow, despite being on 5GHz wifi. However it is really nice to see images instantly on the computer and not having to hook up a wire for it. All I need to do is start CaptureOne, set the camera to the "wireless tethering" mode, and wait for the symbol on the back of the camera to turn green. (I don't even need to check in CaptureOne if it connects the camera -- just wait for the wifi/tether symbol on the LCD to go green). Then as long as I don't shoot in burst mode and don't stray too deep into the garden, I'm mostly good to go!
@@BoultenInc I think it may not be supported in CaptureOne? I'm not sure, they do not support a lot of cameras. If the symbol continues to glow yellow then the camera is not being recognized by CaptureOne, happens to me too sometimes. CaptureOne has to be running, you have to be in the "Tether" tab, and when the symbol is yellow, check the "Camera" dropdown to see if your camera is in there. Sometimes it is there and CaptureOne does not actually select it. Once you manually select it, the symbol on the camera will go green. Expect very slow transfer though... Better to have a fast USB-C cable!
Thanks for a great video. I wish that Fuji would put effort into removing the friction from the user-experience of wireless shooting. While it's good to know that it wasn't just me finding it flaky, the promise of it (and freedom from cables) doesn't live up to the reality.
Great video, not sure I have a good use case for wireless tethering but I might try to backup my camera settings via wireless instead of usb-c cable in the future. Will give it a shot for kicks. Update: I connected my camera to my wireless network and was able to use X-acquire to backup my camera settings. You must have the Connection Setting in "Wireless Tether Shooting Fixed" and not "USB RAW CONV./BACKUP RESTORE". At the same time, I was able to take photos and it would save the RAF files into the X-acquire folder. The speed of transfer was not impressive but it worked. It took around 30 seconds per RAF file to transfer to my computer.
Thank you for the informative video. It saves valuable hours of troubleshooting and time to first figure out the functional principle. Thank you very much for this!
I see comments that are mentioning file transfer speed so I'll pass along my experience from several hours of wirelessly tethering the X-H2 yesterday: With camera connected via 5 GHz Wi-Fi (router 2 rooms away) and desktop PC (Win 11, Capture One Pro 23) connected via cat 6 cable, jpg fine transferred in 1.5 seconds per file and RAF files took 3.5 seconds each to transfer. Acceptable speed for product photography, still life, macro, etc and definitely better than dragging my long USB cable around the studio and trying not to snag it or step on it.
Thank you so much for your precious time, the facility you have to popularize complicated things.. Unfortunately your talent is not enough to beat Fuji's inconsistencies... I give up and go back to the good cable!
great guide 🙂 thanks I just bought a Godox trigger and 2 TT600 speedlights, stands, soft-boxes, etc. for my daughter and me to have a bit of fun with shooting macro and products for her Etsy. The next logical step I guess will be to shoot tethered - though probably via cable and not wirelessly. I used to do this years ago with Nikon gear, but have never tried with my Fujifilm equipment. First though I'll be re-watching your excellent flash videos you did a while ago. thanks again 🙂, Nick
Thank you for your always very clear and very detailed videos. I don't understand why it seems easier to connect an APN to a Smartphone, than an APN to a Computer. I have an X-T4 and a MacBook Pro, unable to connect. Following your video on Capture One I thought I could establish a connection, but no, it seems reserved for the XT5, XH2(S). By acting in this way, the sales representatives of these companies only scare customers away to other competing brands... Sorry for my English, I'm French 😉
Dear Chris, thank you for this insightful video! This is very helpful. Thank you for inspiring us! I am new to Fuji and your channel which is a fantastic resource for me. Also I am not sure it is the right place to ask my question. When I tether from my Fuji X-T5 to Capture One on my Mac desktop via USB cable, my live view image in Capture one is of very poor quality (sort of pixelized and grainy). I tried with different cables, but without improvement. The imported images themselves are good only the live view is affected, so I have trouble focusing manually even with colour peaking. Any advice/ guidance would be much appreciated if you have time for this of course. Many thanks, please continue to motivate us 😊
Love your content. Just tried this with an X-H2 - menus don't seem to align and xacquire just sat there dumb not finding the camera whether left to network segment hunt or given the ip of the connected camera.... oh well.. back to just popping the cards in a reader when I'm done.
Very good video, the truth is that the configuration of this function is quite complex. I've been looking for a way to do this with two cameras for a while, to basically synchronize the receiving folder of the photos with an FTP server from the computer, but I haven't been able to connect more than one camera at the same time.
In the video you say (multiple times) to exit the menu so wireless tethering will work - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4EGD2eJ8yv8.html - and I still sat there, watching the light flash on the back of my camera, refreshing Capture One, and what do you know? It didn't work until I exited the menu. [Facepalm] Thank you for the detailed explanation!
Got it working, but it is a tad on the slow side, still thinking about the usescases. Dont enjoy shooting tethering with a cable, but it takes around 15 sec to transfer a jpeg and 40 sec for compressed raw, so dont see this keeping up. Only real usecase is a party at home are something as a direct link to the pc or still life maybe. Once this gets under 10 sec I might see myself use this in the field. I have an avarage network at home, new router, but 4 year old access points, stil 2.4 and 5 ghz Does also work with hotspots etc
There is not way on earth I would have gotten this up and running without this video. Well, sort of. The only way I can get XAcquire to come up on my M1 MB Pro is to start it in Safe Mode. Any idea why that would be?
I wonder if this would also work with a tablet acting as wifi hotspot. I would love to have a reliable way to check and present photos on site on a tablet and my attempts with the Android app were underwhelming so far.
Hi Chris, a.k.a., pal2tech! Would you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE create one of your excellent step-by-step video tutorials that explains how to install the Fujifilm Lightroom plug that you discussed [11:47 - Should You Use a Lightroom Tethering Plugin?] I own that plugin. Somehow I was able to install it on an old MacBook Air by trial and error. Mostly error. But I have NEVER figured out how to install it on my MacBook Air M1. Seems like such a waste -- I bought it but can't use it. Keep up the good work and thanks for your help!
Great video as always but fuji needs to do better with this plugin. Im still having a hard time connecting my GFX. I wanted to use that one because it's free. But the fact that you have ti pay to use the xt5 and XH2 is shameful. I might just break out my sony even though I want to shoot fuji. Doe anyone know where the tether preferences Chris was referring to round 13:20?
Thanks for this! I got it working with X acquire. Tried capture one - no luck!😂 but a question. How do you disconnect without having to start over with the Wi-Fi password stuff?
For the GFX 100S I need... live view on a tablet that my client can use for styling the scene... and I need complete control of the camera with live view on the LCD at the same time. Right now... Fuji goes into lockout mode with live view sent to Capture One or to their wireless app. With Capture One the camera is completely locked out with live view open. It is a major workflow issue that I've had to sacrifice moving to the GFX line. I thought they would fix it eventually. But it's STILL like this in the new v2.0 firmware and the new Xapp released today. I feel like the only person in the world that cares about this. Fuji obviously has no plans to fix this behaviour. FML.
Oh, that's two of us! How good it is to meet a person with a similar problem :) I only need a wireless connection for live view, as shooting 100mb raws wirelessly makes no sense. Fujifilm app live view is a crap, even in the new X app they did not fix it
Ha, that sucks, when using a wireless tether on my home network it appears to disable charging via USB cable (no power plug symbol on screen), annoying as I wanted to use it for my astrophotography so I can monitor the image folder with the astro software and also prevent the battery running out during a session which would be a disaster.
I got the new fujifilm x-t50 camera, but when i go into connection mode menu, the only options i have are - usb card reader - usb webcam - usb raw conv.backup restore. Where can i find the tether option? i would lovvee to use this feature, it also doesnt seem to work with cable, probably for the same reason.
Hello, there are a lot of precisions in your explanations, it's really great. I'm not sure I understand a topic well. the recording of the photos is only on the pc and nothing on the sd card of the fujifilm. is that right? is't possible to record on the fujifilm and on the laptop?
Now that I realize tethering is about a live session, it might be different from wireless file transfer from my XT5 to my Mac. I also noticed that PC AutoSave is no longer supported for XT5. On another try, I tried to use Capture One Express and the Tether button there is out (perhaps it's available only on Capture One Pro?). I just want a simple wireless file transfer to save on wear and tear. Any ideas? I am surprised now that even formerly crappy printer drivers seem rather reliable these days that the camera to computer interface seem not that much better than a decade ago.
hi love the videos if this is not allowed sorry i own the xh2 my first fuji ,only ever shoot stills but going on holls with gran kids i would like to use the video what would be the best settings for to video the children thank you
Such a helpful video, thank you. It worked seamlessly with my X-T5, but I'm having trouble with the X-H2.......in the connection mode section of the menu, wireless tether shooting fixed isn't even displaying at an option!? Any ideas? The camera has the latest updates installed. It's driving me bonkers.
Go to the network settings and from there: - create/edit connection settings - create using wizard - tether shooting - create new - ok - wireless lan - create new - access point and ip as show in the video - next (this will let you choose a name for this setting, and then a name for the preset) - done, I hope it helps The X-H2/s give you the abilities to save multiple presets, useful when working with different WiFi connections
Hey Erik!! I’m so sorry for the delay in seeing this… I get so behind lately in managing my YT account and am trying to get help. Thank you so much for supporting the channel!! I really appreciate it!! Cheers! 🙏 👍
Capture one is light years ahead in terms of reliability, speed and handling of renaming on the fly. The others are clunky and slow. A good USB cable also simplifies all of the worries and bugs Wi-Fi tethering introduces. Shooting professionally Wi-Fi looks cool when it works but losing a session of corrupted photos will wreck your life.
Hello, I have a problem that is quite bothering me When I shoot with Fujifilm Xh-2s connected to Capture One, there is no problem But when I open live view, all buttons of Xh-2s will be locked by capture one, and the focus will be changed to manual. Is there any solution? hope you can help me, thank you🙏🏻🙏🏻
I tried to load the Fujifilm X acquire software onto my Windows 10 machine and it will not start? Lots of similar comments on the Fuji forum but no real answers, I tried reinstalling.
@pal2tech I upgraded my XT-4 to the new firmware and successfully paired and used the new app. But then I noticed that my front wheel only does shutter speed. Nothing happens when clicking it to access the other two functions. And the rear wheel that I use for ISO does nothing. All settings are correct, and this was working minutes before the FW upgrade. Have anyone else experienced this? Thanks!
How can we do wireless tethering if we are not in range of any wifi router or network as when working on fields. Can you share reviews about Camranger2 and Camfi3 in that case. Planning to buy these for the purpose but has no technical idea about these. as these are not available in India to test.
I have a SX10, and the free 30 days capture one running on an HP laptop, I am struggling, I wish I had someone to hold my hands, but I will keep trying, I will settle for USB wired tether, I just want to be able to shoot and instantly see it on the big screen. Someone help please...
I shoot wired in my studio and it is complicated and clunky enough. I can't image doing it wirelessly. I wish I could, but Fuji and Lightroom will have to improve their software.
Hello, everyone. I am new Fuji and learning to ecosystem. Currently, I have an X-H2 ver.3.03 and trying to connect to C1 (CaptureOne build 16.2.6). As I understand it I should be able to do wireless tethering. However, I am at the Marker's Mark level. I don't even have the option as seen as 9 min:48secs in vid. {Wireless tether shooting Fixed) Any ideas?
I tried to connect to my X-T5, the camera "CAN NOT FIND Wi-Fi ROUTER" and it completely freezes and can't turn off camera, the only solution is to remove the battery. Anyone else getting coming across the same issue?
not simple my friend ! Called Fuji today & they indicated that the reason my wifi/ H2 &/or X100 series , the tech told my that my problem is with Apple iPhone & NOT a Fuji problem ??? The iPhone works perfect w/my Nikons & Hasselblad ? So disappointing !
It would be great if they call things just by their names. Not "simple setup", but just "WPS connection". People who know what it is will find it more easily, and people who don't know will have an easier time.
@@longboardfella5306 100% agree, the cameras are incredible but software is nothing but an afterthought for most camera brands...sad...let's hope the new app somehow breaks the trend
