I have used this camera since 2014. I couldn't bear to lose it. Amazing for street photography, slow to use and acts more like a film camera than a digital camera. As an oldboy I just love it. It's not for everyone mind you. I shoot at f5.6 and f4 for street photograph, with the original 35mm f1.4 and 23mm f2, and only wide open if I'm looking to separate the background from the foreground. I'm holding the X Pro1 to my eye in my avatar. I purchased the Fuji dioptre with the camera and its still with me to this day.

I just picked an XPro1 at the end of january 2022 and your videos helped me make the decision to do so. It is such an enjoyable camera to use, firstly because it is so tactile and super well made. Its just a fun camera to handle. Second because it makes me slow down and take shots in a more relaxed yet more purposeful way. Last but not least, the camera may be 10 years old, but there is something going on with that 1st gen sensor. I wont claim that the pics are super good on a technical level when pixel peeping, but I just love the way they look. And I just want to throw a note on the auto-focus. I have a z50 which has a pretty fast AF. Yes the XPro1 is nowhere near as fast, but with the 35mm f2 lens its also nowhere near as slow as some make it sound. Even in the streets its very usable.

Happy to hear that! That's one of the things that I like to mention in my videos, I really believe that shooting with intentionality is the way to go and progress. The first-gen X-trans sensor has some sort of magic sauce, and that's the reason why I keep coming back to this camera from my X100V. Keep me posted on your progress and experiences after you've used it for a while! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts as well! I really appreciate it 😁🙌🏼

Would you recommend Xpro1 for beginner’s first camera? Thinking about getting this or spend some extra money on XE-4 or even Xpro2
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 2 года назад
Like always, It depends... if you're planning to take it seriously, dedicate the right amount of time to progress and master your craft then the older camera works best for that. If you just want to have fun, do it every now and then and don't want to be frustrated by a steep learning curve, then the new camera is best for that. Set it to auto and forget about it. So the question is, what kind of process works best for you? hope that helps. Thanks for watching and for sharing a comment! Cheers 🙌🏼✨

Hey Jorge, I've been an Xpro-1 owner for nearly 6 years and your review and tutorial as well as the link to those "recipes" - Kindly formulated by Richie - for colour simulations is the best I've ever watched. I've set up 6 of those simulation recipes and man, I'm impressed. Your set-up menu is great as there were several specific areas that I was unsure of configuration wise. I recently bought an X-T3 body which is an incredible camera and another major learning experience, however the Xpro-1 will always be a keeper. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Now a subscriber. :)

I'm very glad it was helpful! that's the point of these videos man, to share the info and help others out there. And I'm with you regarding the X-Pro1, the X100V is my main camera, but the X-Pro1 is a keeper, there's some magic to it... How's the X-T3 treating you? The X-t3 is the best bang for the buck that Fuji offers, a great camera for a great value! Thanks for watching and for joining this small community! I hope I can continue to provide useful info, or at least entertainment 😂 Happy holidays! 🎄

@@Jorge-Perez Thanks again Jorge for the warm reply. Your enthusiasm is inspiring. Yes I love the X-t3. It's a far more complex camera than the Xpro-1 with it's many settings and of course that very fast focus is a plus. I actually considerer getting the X100V however I do like the to be able to interchange lenses........I still may get one in the future though. All the best to you for the festive season and happy holidays. I'm looking forward to more of your wonderfully eductional tutorial videos. They really hit the mark. Good on you Jorge. :)

I like the rangefinder style viewfinder, as well. It’s much easier on my face and fits my eye better. I bought an xpro1 brand new a few years ago but rarely ever use it as I’m still primarily shooting film. Was about to sell it but seeing this, I’m now going to keep it. Thanks!

Great to hear! I think there is room to own both a film and digital camera as well, and the closer both feel, the easier it will be to jump between them as well. Give the X-Pro1 a try as your main camera for a little while, just to get comfortable and familiar with and see if you see yourself keeping it long term. After the Leica cameras, this is probably the closest thing to the film experience. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts as well! Keep me posted on how this little experiments ends up! Cheers 😁🙌🏼

Great review, i've a X-Pro 1 which i've had for about 6 months now and i do love it. It compliments my other cameras really nicely. Really liked your X100 review too, undecided whether it would be worth it for me to have one along side the Pro though.

Thanks for sharing! The x-pro 1 is incredible, and I'm really glad I gave it a shot. The x100 could be a great second camera for other situations, like a dedicated monochrome camera, or optical viewfinder only, etc. These small tweaks can help make it feel fresh and potentially get you excited to shoot in different ways! I'm working on a video about that exactly, should be up in a couple weeks. Thanks a lot for watching, and taking the time to share your thoughts, really glad people are engaging with the content and feel like they want to share. Thanks so much, I appreciate it! 🙏🏼😁

The Voigtlander Diopters fit the X-Pro1 and here in UK are around £25 from Robert White Specialist Photography in Poole Dorset. I have fitted one to mine and it has really made this one of my favourite cameras. Hope you don't mind me mentioning the supplier but anyone needing one in UK then this is a great source that I found after digging deep in the forums. I have had the camera a few years and this was the thing that let it down but now I am back in love with it. A really nice review, thanks for sharing your views in this camera. I have a X-Pro1 since 2013 and don't use it as everyday-camera anymore. But I have some „special projects” in mind for the X-Pro1 and it should do very well in this cases. Btw, the tiny XF 18/2 is a perfect match for the X-Pro1. Adapting larger vintage lenses is not my cup of tea (tried it).

I love my x pro 1. The main problem I run into is that it's slow and the shutter speed isn't fast enough for some aperatures on the beach. Using manual focus lenses was totally fine, I only run into problems when chasing my son around, trying to get it focused. It's very difficult to get a randomly darting target in focus, but miss-focused images do occasionally has an accidental stroke of genius.

Interesting.. I think the faster lenses like the fuji f2 WR might help, also what focusing method are you using? I understand what you mean tho, street photography have those sort of moments as well where you can't anticipate things but you need to try to be ready for anything. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share a comment, cheers! 🙏🏼

I’d be surprised if 1/8000 isn’t fast enough on a beach, either. That’s where you need NDs. The 6D only has 1/4000 too. The legend Nikon F3 only had 1/2000. It’s not a camera issue like autofocus as the user can easily overcome it.

I bought my Pro1 in 2012 after 40 years of film photography. Read about Fuji's plans and couldn't wait for the camera to come out. I still have that camera, but it was joined by a Pro2 and then an X-H1. The three of them produced amazing images for my photography degree (graduated at the age of 59) with most shot on the, now rather tatty, X-Pro1. I use the H1 more than the the other two these days because I have an annoying hand tremor and the camera has built in IS. I have no stabilised lenses BUT if I know I am going to be using wide angle lenses and will be able to get high shutter speeds I still reach for the Pro1. My go-to lens for it is the 18mm f2 Fujinon. Also have the 23mm f2 (I see the world through subconscious 35mm equivalent brightlines from using Leicas for decades), 35mm f1. 4 and aViltrox 52mm f1.4. I embrace the Pro-1's 10yo quirks, love it to bits and, while this doesn't matter at all, it looks the dog's bollocks on its lovely vintage black leather strap that was new in 1966 and was originally supplied with a Leica M4. It's probably worth as much as the camera body. Www.andywhysall.com

Amazing! Great to hear about your experiences with these cameras, this comment is a testament to the fact that it's never too late to do what makes you happy! Which one is your go-to camera now? I still have the X-Pro1 and love it, but since I'm on a youtube journey, I switch cameras often to use them enough to feel comfortable reviewing them, And now with the X-Pro2 I'm getting into manual lenses, the most film-like experience, or the closest I'll get to play with a "Leica" camera 😂 How do the Viltrox lenses feel? I'm looking into testing and trying more lenses, and those seem pretty decent. Curious to hear your thoughts! Thank you very much for watching and for sharing a comment as well! Cheers, Andy! ✨🙌🏼

Excellent video about the X-Pro1, well done! I started to take digital Photography a bit more seriously around 2015 and wanted a compact camera for everyday cary with good image quality and good looks of course 😉, so I got the just released X100T new. Wow I was hooked straight away. Great camera, still shooting with it today! Got a X-Pro1 last year with the 18/f2 attached, added the 35/f1.2 from 7Artisans, and love it. I wish the focuss peaking would be a bit better though, my only complaint. Tried the 23/f2 and boy it is a different camera, way faster, near silent. The older lenses like the 18/2, 35/1.4 etc are slower and noisier. So I think I might get the 35/f2 going fwd. also a plus in my opinion is the easy menu compared to the newer fujis, might just be me but I hate digging into endless menus etc. just takes away the joy and the film like approach. Also shoot a Nikon FE and every time I do so I really enjoy the simplicity of it. Cheers from Switzerland

@@Jorge-Perez I had the 35/1.4 and 23/2 on loan, the 18/2 came with the XP1, got the 7Artisans used for half nothing to try MF, and adapted my Nikkor vintage glass to it. I stil have the XF18/2 as it is a new focal length to me and I quite enjoy it. Maybe not as great as the 35/1.4 in terms of image quality but still very good with its own character as well. Still use the 7A 35/1.2 as it is such a small lens and fits the XP1 perfectly. Zone focussing works, as the markings on the lens are accurate. Gives a Very special looks to the pictures, slightly vintage and with a unique imperfect quality one could argue its character. I do like it. XF35/1.4 great image quality! Certain character to it. Not as compact (with the hood on) but still very light. Maybe the best image quality of all lenses I tried. But I am no pixel peeper and getting the shot (and the memorie with it) is more important to me. If it came with the camera I think I would have kept it. But it is quite noisy, hunts in low light and if the sceene isn‘t contrasty enough. Not too bad though, it is workable, no question (so is the 18/2). Bit after trying the: XF23/2 I knew for my documentary approach the ‚Fujicrons f2‘ are the way to go. Image quality is very good. One could argue that a bit of character is missing compared to the 35/1.4 (or 18/2) but it is minimal and depends how and what you are shooting. The AF is way faster and near silent. I would go as far as to say my XP1 became a different camera. The difference is very noticable. And I also like the look of the newer f2 lenses on the XP bodies. Also if I ever upgrade to a newer model with WR, it us handy to have WR lenses too. Just a thought. I didn‘t buy the lense, as I wanted to know the camera better and decide later on what lenses to get. I am a minimalist (or try 😎 - my approach is less is more and the 23/2 is already covered with my X100T) . Nikkor 50/f1.8 with adapter. Very unique look to the images. Used it to do a bit of portraits of my kids as it is eqv to a 75mm on the APSC. Very nice to use (as is the 7A 35/1.2) BUT it is getting quite bulky woth the added adapter. And form factor is important to me. Quite heavy also. I much prefer the 3party lenses with an X-Mount such as the 7A. So much smaller on size. Something to point out, at least for me, focuss peaking isn‘t that great on the XP1 compared to later models. Just the ‚white‘ color option, makes it hard to get accurate focussing in daylight. Then it depends what you photograph. I like the 7A for going out at night, take my time for every shot, maybe blur the scene…kinda arty lens if you like 😉. So for documentary style, or a everyday carry & travel camera (not head shots, portraits, maybe products) for me at least, the newer ‚fujicrons f2‘ lenses really giving the older X-Pro1 a right kick up the a** and bring it to another level in terms of performance. All subjective of course. Hope my english us readable. Not easy in another language. Take care and drop a line when you do visit 🇨🇭 Cheers

I agree with your comments about the X-Pro 1. I still enjoy using mine with the 18/2 and 35/1.4 lenses. My X100-T is also fantastic but has some odd quirks I have learned to live with: the battery charger is a disaster and was exchanged four times for repeated failure (I now charge via USB). Also, the software will suddenly switch to using an accessory lenses (e.g. 33mm) even though I don't own one and have never adjusted settings to such a use. Sometimes the small manual-focus rectangle can't be removed. I need to do a factory reset about twice a year to correct these failures, though I then need to again apply all me individual settings. Despite these quirks, I absolutely adore the little camera.

@@Jorge-Perez Jorge, my camera system switch took place mainly for two reasons: I only seldom photographed landscapes, macros (plants) and nature, but switched to more "street" photography and I was missing a dedicated aperture ring as used in my analog cameras. I sold almost all my Canon gear, keeping only the 5D (1st version) plus 25-105/4 and 100-400/4-5.6. I bought into the Fujifilm system with the X-Pro1, the X-T1 and X100T with a number of lenses. I reduced my Fujifilm lens collection, keeping the 18/2 and 35/1.4 with the X-Pro1 and the X100T. My X-Pro1 renders many images a bit greenish and I correct the white balance during post processing (in LR). I love the 35/1.4 and very often shoot wide open. The lens has wonderful character. All Fujifilm lenses I used were outstanding: 56/1.2 and 23/1.4 and 16-55/2.8, but I didn't use these very much anymore. I realized that less is more for me, so I reduced my gear to what I use almost daily. Fujifilm cameras rekindled my love of photography, which had been on a low flame, so to say, for some time. It's amazing that mainly one feature was a major driver in enjoying photography (again): the aperture ring! A few more words concerning printing: I regularly print to A2 on matt paper with images from all my cameras. Results are excellent and I've exhibited many prints without anyone mentioning pixel count. In my experience the post processing and quality printing process are important for good results. I even print images from my iPhone 7 in A2 without any major quality issues. Glossy paper would be a different story. My digital camera path lead me to the Leica M8 which I didn't enjoy much, though I loved my three analog Leicas. I didn't enjoy the Sony A7 and still have nightmares recalling the menu system. My Canon SLRs produced excellent images and had the best white balance performance I've ever experienced. During air shows I would shoot all day with only two batteries and a couple SD cards. But I hated adjusting aperture with the thumb wheel and having to press the shutter release to view the aperture on the LCD screen.

Nice video as always! I'd like to see more content on vintage lenses especially on how to maximize them. They're quite challenging to use, but rewarding when used properly. For example, my Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 has a large aperture. However, I can't depend on it for low light due to its obviously soft rendering, but that is also a strength for creative shots in natural light. After comparing it with the SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8, I realized the f1.8 is the sharper lens wide open making it the more clinical lens. Experimenting with these makes photography interesting for me without getting swept up with the latest and greatest gear (which is quite inaccessible for most people tbh). They also go well with the in-camera JPG recipes.

Thanks for sharing! Vintage lenses is something that i'm really interested in, I've been considering shooting with manual lenses for a while. Most cameras feel like computers now, and most lenses are just pristine/generic looking, so there will always be a market and a demographic for vintage lenses. Thanks for the great suggestion, I'll try to do videos like that in the future. And thanks for watching! Cheers! 🙏🏼✨

Hey, thanks for watching! I picked up an X-Pro2 not long ago, currently testing it and working on a full review. But for now, I'll say that the OVF is better in the sense that you get more options, the frame lines, lenses crop etc, however, the peaking and manual focusing assistance is day and night compared to the X-pro1. I still love the X-pro1 and I'm not getting rid of it, but if your sole purpose is to use older manual lenses, then the X-pro2 improved OVF and peaking options is the way to go. But I wanted to have the possibility to vary focal lengths a bit, so I started to look around for the X-Pro line, and thanks to your video I found an X-Pro1 (X-Pro2's are hard to find) in perfect condition and I have to say I love it too ! thanks for this i really enjoy your reviews.. logic behind your decisions etc. we seem to have similar needs/wants in camera and luck would have it i was winding up to buy a pro1 as the problem i have with my 100f is the focus by wire and the lack of weather sealing. the pro1 would sort that on both accounts.. well that's what i thought! for some reason i was under the impression the pro1 featured w/s & i even yelled "what!" at the video.. hoping you'd made a mistake i investigated further.. oh noes as usual you were on the money. not sure where that leaves me now.. pro2 maybe.. but i was really looking forward to that xTrans1 'magic'. in the future i will get the xt4 for landscape/video reasons but i'm in no rush but the idea of having every xTrans model is quite alluring (i just wish they'd drop the fake prism viewfinder pyramid and develop a camera with the rangefinder-esque ov/evf.. common knowledge people respond to this style more when being photographed) ha! sorry for the rant but while i'm at it i'd put my pennys worth in for a thumbs up to lens reviews as well ;) ATB

Agreed! the weather sealing, rangefinder style viewfinder and focusing system really matters. I bought and reviewed an X--T3 last year, and it's a great camera, and a great bang for the buck (specially during the fuji summer sale), but I could not deal with the location of the viewfinder. Ended up returning it. Although the x-pro1 does not have weather sealing, if you have lenses that do have it, it helps protect the body a bit more, but it's still not fully sealed, so beware. And by all means, I like when people share their thoughts and stories as well, it gives me an idea of what kind of people watches my videos and if the content is somewhat helpful or not, the comments turn the subscriber number into actual human beings 😁 Thank you so much for watching, the likes, and taking the time to share your thoughts as well, I really appreciate it man, cheers! ✨🙌🏼

I have been using the X100S for the past few months and it's been a treat to use it daily but I often find myself wanting a zoom lens for a better coverage/flexibility when I'm outside. X Pro series are great but they're bulkier and heavier for a reason. There's the X-E line but they don't have the Optical Viewfinder that is in the X100 and X Pro series. I guess fuji wants you to have more of their cameras hence the different features of each series.

@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 2 года назад
It depends on your personal preferences. The X-pro1 will be slower than both of the cameras that you own, and both of those cameras have regular viewfinders, that's another thing to consider. I would take an X-Pro1 over and X-T4, X-T5, X-T6 etc just because of the rangefinder style viewfinder. Like I've mentioned in previous videos, the physical location of the viewfinder is better for my particular face, plus having the option to change between OVF & EVF is also a priority for me. I think it's a great camera to own, even if it's for collection purposes, and it would make sense if you have never used rangefinder styles cameras to start with a cheap/used one. That being said, just have reasonable expectations for it. It won't be faster than the cameras that you already own It won't be magically "better" either. It's more like a compilation of small details, and when you add up all of those details, then the camera really feels unique and makes a difference. Hope that helps! I almost threw my X-Pro1 in the bin in 2016, literally. I’d tried to take a picture of a flower in my garden, it was large in the frame and against a clear blue sky and the thing missed focus. I never touched the thing again for a few years, I bought an X-T1 and carried on. Then I came across someone using one as a manual focus body only. As I’d always liked the images it produced I gave it a go, now I use it almost exclusively as manual focus and love the camera again. The X-T1 was very DSLR type, small, good IQ, better AF etc but it never shone image wise like the XP1 did until recently. Someone on RU-vid recommenced these simple settings, monochrome and ISO 4000....................... I know, ISO 4000 I thought that too but I picked it up and took a shot of each of my kids. It was awesome, just like I was used to getting when the XP1 nailed focus but now with a fast shutter and accurate AF.

I think it's settled! I'll try to get my hands on a X-E1 in the future, just to experience it! 😂 I personally feel that there's a lot more of us "in between" photographers than people think. The internet is filled with reviews and videos of gear that most of us can't afford. So people think that you need to be wealthy to be able to experience our craft, and that can't be farther from the truth. There seem to be hardcore film people that keep saying: "If it's not film then don't even talk to me" and hardcore digital people saying "If it's not a $10,000 Sony mirrorless camera then don't talk to me" but most people can be flexible, and enjoy both things. There's no need to choose one over the one, and most people don't have the budget to do so. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hypocrite, a part of me really appreciates the engineering, design, and crafting of Leica cameras, I'd like to at least try one in the future 😂, I don't see that as an issue, the issue would be telling people that if you DON'T use a Leica then you're nothing, nobody, useless, etc. We need to adapt, evolve, and find a happy medium, otherwise we become extinct like the dinosaurs. Once again, thanks for watching, for takin the time to share your thoughts, and for enjoying my content, I really appreciate it! 🙏🏼😁

That's one of the things that I really like about Fuji cameras. There's a lot of noise online, favouritism, fanatism, but at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is how does the camera make you feel? If you enjoy using the camera, the results and the experience, then you'll make sure you have it with you always, shoot more and grow and learn and to me that is key. Sounds like you're already enjoying yourself and having a great time, I'm glad to hear. How's the X-Pro2 treating you? I'd like to give it a try in the future. I'm not sure if it's identical, but it has the same sensor and image processor, so in theory it should be very very similar. With mostly physical changes like smaller body/viewfinder, etc. But I keep hearing great things about the X-E1 from my subscribers and RU-vid comments, so I might give it a try in the future. I have the wonderful Xpro2 and Xpro3... but why do ppl say Xpro1 has better white balance and is sharper ? can that be shown side by side ?
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 2 года назад
It's a personal preference, I'm not sure if it's better per se, but I do prefer the older sensors in terms of colours and image quality. The newer cameras are sharper for sure, the newer the sensor the more technical improvements it has, the more clean and clinical the look as well. White balance is one of those settings where it can be adjusted manually and try to match it to other cameras if needed, but the sharpness, overall cleanness and lack of noise are definitive features of the newer cameras. There's nothing wrong with the newer cameras, those are amazing. It's more about personal preference. In a world of pristine clean lenses and sensors, some people seem to gravitate more towards older, more film-like sensors and cameras as well. Like us here. Hope that helps answer the question, thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts as well! Cheers ✨🙌🏼

I am wondering why you only refer to vintage Minolta lenses, when virtually any vintage lens can be adapted to a Fujifilm X-Series camera. BTW, how did you find an X-Pro 1 for $300 CAD? That's an amazing price! I have a hard time finding an X-E1 for that price.
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 3 года назад
I have history with Minolta 😂 and they're fairly cheap and easy to find here in Canada. But you're right most vintage lenses can be adapted to these X cameras. I bought the X-pro1 locally, but I've seen it for 400-450 cad on Henry's, they sell used equipment and lenses that have been tested and give you a 3 month warranty. However, they are charging you a premium for that. Check periodically to see if they add the camera you're looking for. I've never seen an X-E1 go for more than 400, never seen and X-T1 go for more than 450, and X-Pro1 go for more than 450-500. Unfortunately the used marketplace in Canada is not ideal, so you're gonna have to hunt them down. Hope that was helpful, thanks for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts as well! And good luck! 🙌🏼✨

Interesting to hear your thoughts on the X-trans 1 and color compared to your x100. I’ve always heard that the Bayer sensor of the x100 is better than any x trans that came after it.
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 2 года назад
Yeah, this is an interesting conversation, I think for the most part you are correct, however, since classic chrome and acros are so important to me, and the way that I shoot, I think the first X-trans sensor is easier to customize and to try to replicate those simulations. The Bayer sensor is great, the images I can get from the X100 are fantastic, but it does not play well with customization, or I least I'm unable to create something like the classic chrome on the X100. Hope that helps, and hope that the video was useful! Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts as well, Cheers 😁🙌🏼

@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 3 года назад
Hi Alain, the X-Pro1 does not have the ERF mode (dual display), the newer cameras do have that mode, including the X-Pro2. It has parallax correction but not as intuitive as the newer cameras, basically when you half press the shutter, it will show the actual area of capture and parallax correction. By then you have to release the shutter, correct your focus point and half press it again to see how it lines up, and keep going until you managed to get it right. It works, but not as intuitive or faster as newer cameras. Hope that helps, thanks a lot for watching and taking he time to leave a comment as well! I appreciate it! 🙌🏼✨

Jorge, When I was working at the camera store, that I rely on my DSLR as I got the Fuji S3Pro, and then got the Fuji S5Pro, as I was using my AF Nikkor lenses, but then when I got the S5Pro, that it had the AI Cam Ring, so I was able to my Manual Nikkors lenses that I stock up when I was using it on film shooting as I got my lenses AI converted, still I was happy in using my SLR Film Lenses, as then I got later the Fuji XE1 via using a FX-to Nikkor F adapter, and I was happy in shooting manually although it was just a bit slower in shooting, however I was shooting with it, and have noticed the output look when using the my Old Nikkor lenses into digitally shooting, and using the film simulations. Then I decided to get the XPro1 body, and it was something in shooting like a rangefinder along with my Nikkors. So I was happy in shooting both models, and still shooting film as well. The reason why I am using my lenses is this - - Even when working at the camera store that STILL I could afford getting the Fuji line of lenses since I am happy in using my Nikkors. So why I should break the bank in getting another system.... So after seeing your video that I agree in a system that your comfortable in what you are using as just like me.... Now am I right.?
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 2 года назад
Enjoying the camera that you use, the system and lenses is equally important, otherwise what is the point of even practising a hobby or a craft? If you enjoyed and had fun with a specific camera and set of lenses, then more power to you. The point is to use gear that we enjoy, gear that encourages us to go out there and capture the world and create memories. Specs and image quality and tech is created to help us, not to get in the way and prevent us from creating and shooting. That being said, specific jobs might require specific cameras, like high speed sports or medium format prints, etc. But like I said in a previous video: The best camera is not the one you have with you, the best camera is the one you enjoy using. Thanks for watching, I hope it was helpful or entertaining! And thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts as well! I appreciate it 🙏🏼✨

hey there i would like to ask on how the optical viewfinder looks like. I am too used to either the ones on DSLR or EVF on mirrorless cameras. does the xpro-1 viewfinder look like a typical one from a film-based rangefinder?
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 2 года назад
The viewfinder experience is customizable. When using the optical (OVF) it's somewhat similar to the DSLR experience. The frame will show you what the crop will end up being, depending on the lens that you are using, it saves a ton of battery & it provides the full view of the environment, so it lets you prepare for things coming in and out of the frame. And yes, it's almost the same as a film rangefinder, but with the option to add some settings to it. You can see a brief clip of the viewfinder in action in my 5 reasons to the get X-pro1 video. Hope that helps, thanks for watching and for sharing a comment as well! I appreciate it! ✨🙌🏼

Hi there, I haven't used the XM1, but on paper it seems pretty decent! it has the x-trans sensor, 16mp, interchangeable lens mount, so I'm sure in terms of image quality it will perform well. But the lack of control, dials, and a rangefinder style viewfinder makes it a bit hard for me to consider. However, if those aspects are not important to you, If you don't need a viewfinder or dedicated shutter speed dial etc, then yeah I think the camera would be great. I like this camera and I'm thinking about buying it. Does it have focus peaking through the viewfinder? If not, how can I focus with manual lenses (the 7artisans series, for example). And also, does the field of view of the viewfinder change when you change a lens (even if it has no electronics?).
@Jorge-Perez
@Jorge-Perez 3 года назад
Hey there, the camera does have focus peaking, there's a setting called MF ASSIST, in there you can toggle the "focus peaking highlight" between low and high. This works well with the EVF. OVF's do not change FOV, that's what makes them an OVF. However, the white frame guidelines inside will crop in and show you how your frame will look with different lenses. With the EVF the field of view does change, it's basically the same thing as the LCD screen. There's another X-pro1 video on my channel called "5 reasons to get the X-Pro1" in there you can see both the EVF and OVF in action, you'll be able to see how the optical OVF shows white lines and those change depending on the lenses that you have and the focal length. Hope that helps! it's a great camera and I highly recommend it! Thanks for watching and for dropping a comment! Cheers 🙌🏼
