What the hell? This is the most random camera release of the year, but this completely changed the landscape of video cameras. Sony APSC (except the FX30) feels dead 😭
I have the same camera, with the fan. Disappointed to discover that at 10 bit 4.2.2 in All-Intra, you can only record video up to 45 minutes continuously, in whatever mode (with a very fast SD card). And nothing to do with overheating. Not good enough.
Wonderful speaking voice, great review. I'm pretty excited about this camera as an upgrade to my video shooting. Currently on MFT, so it's going to be a slow transition as it means I'll have to invest in lenses too. Cheers!
First time watching one of your reviews and enjoyed it - thanks! You got a new sub 😊 Question: is the xs20 capable of unlimited recording? You may have mentioned it and I inadvertently missed it in your review.
I still adore your xs10 opening section, so memorable. ...plus slowmo cat, of course. It feels like it was happened yesterday. The big oomph on battery is a great choice 😊
On the XT5 does the skin smoothing mode under the dynamic range on the first page of the menu work in video or just on stills? It seems like that could speed up a wedding workflow.
While using it as web camera via usb-c cable, is the battery charging simultaneously too? Or dummy battery with power supply is needed to keep camera running?
8mm 3.5 size that is damnn smexyyyyyy, and bc the megapixel count increased.....you can crop the 8mm to 16mm so...damnnn i want one so bad I wonder how much its gonna be in Tokyo..... wait that screw in filter mount is a dream for landscape ppl.... thanks for a great coverage on the XS-20 and 8mm F3.5 Love your contents do you know if Fuji is going to release the Xpro 4 since im kinda sad the Xpro 3 is discontinued or will...
Im preordering this, what a jump in tech from my canon 6d mark 1. Its not full frame but its better in every single way otherwise. The weather sealing is missed too so hope it holds up.
did he mentioned that the xt5 processor on the new x-s20 only up the video capabilities and not so much on stills? what if i'm into wildlife/sports or other fast action use cases?
Hey let’s make a camera that records 4K. And let’s convince them to purchase a stupid fan accessory because it overheats. Fuji has failed to deliver……….nothing. The camera isn’t even thermally stable.
If you don't shoot high speed video, with other brands that boast high fps video, high bit depth etc specs, you always have to carry around extra thickness with an inbuilt fan, inlet and exhaust ports in the camera all the time. The fan accessory gives you flexibility for a slimmer body. The fan was made for the X-H2/S but by reports not many people actually need it, but it's there if you do demanding video in hotter environments. There's nothing much to knock about, and the fact they made the same accessory compatible is great. (The camera actually does 6K open gate too.)
No. This is essentially a video camera that shoots stills. The only advantage that this has for stills is the ibis. If you aren't interested in video, there isn't really a reason to consider this over other options.
I was on a few back order lists before the X summit for the x100v. I cancelled them all and preordered this. I was going to use the x100v for photo and video and it wouldn’t have been ideal. This is a way better option for a small hybrid setup
The X100V has a fixed lens. That makes the camera more compact (plus I believe inbuilt ND filter), but with the S20 you can put any lens on it you want. They are really different cameras with different feels & size & dials, but with respect to process, the S20 would have to kill it with the new processor with new focus engine, fantastic new focusing modes, battery life, video capability. It depends what you want to move up to.
@@balboa0621 Wouldn't be for professional photography - I recently sold my Canon 600D and all lenses, so now I am cameraless (pandemic hit me hard, had to.) I'm now able to purchase but the x100V is obviously impossible to get anywhere. I could get a X-T5 and a pancake lens, but the difference of price is £2.2k (body and lens I want) vs £1669 (this new body plus same lens). So I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to get the XS20 and save money, or if it's not much of a replacement for the x100V, thus I should spend more money and go for the X-T5.
@@TheOpenmindStudio the xs20 is very much a video camera. If you aren't going to use the video features much, an xt30ii, xs10, or xe4 are better--and cheaper--options.
nope. moved over from a phone to an actual camera...and i cannot go back. Phone images are just upscaled. Put it on a screen bigger then your phone, the image falls apart...not happening until there's a couple leaps on phone sensors.
@@PhatsoJuggalo806 Well yes, but the vast majority of people look at photos (and videos) on their phones exclusively. It’s sad and frustrating for us photographers - and disastrous for camera manufacturers.
For the same reason there are still laptop and desktop computers in the age of smart phones, there will also continue to be dedicated cameras for the foreseeable future. Nothing compares to a tool that is custom tailored for the job. Even if my phone had equal image quality to my Fuji, I'd still choose my Fuji for the experience it offers.
