I have to say this is the aps c camera right now. $1300 you get 6k open gate, 4k60 all-i 10bit, prores and blackmagic raw. Kills the sony lineup, including fx30 at $1800, murders the canon lineup, which doesn't even have any decent lenses. And it's half price from x-H2s, just does not have 4k120, or a stacked sensor, but half off, man.
not at all. I would still stay with Sony and Canon having their lenses . New canon aps-c R7,8,10 ,100! are way more options to choose right? For prof work only retro enthusiasts will buy Fuji , others still go with Canon/Sony
@mex5341 You are misinformed. Canon aps c has no usable lenses. Fuji has Tamron 11-20, 17-70, Sigma trio, Viltrox 13 and 75, far better than Canon's 18-45, 28, 18-140, all jokes of lenses. And don't tell me you can buy the Canon RF full frame lenses, they are over priced, the FF f1.8 will not perform well on aps c, the FF 1.2 cost a fortune. Canon is the worst.
@@mex5341 While Sony, the $1400 a6600 has no flip screen, at best 4k30p 8bit 4:2:0 video capabilities, no open gate, no 6k, no 10 bit, no external raw, no USB-C. The rumored a6700 with similar (or even better specs) than the X-S20, well, given a6600 price, I think it will cost more than $2000. X-S20 is $1300. That's the best price/performance ratio for APS-C, period.
LOVE the review! I have an x-s10 and it's simply adorable. Can't wait to get my hands on the X-S20 with the new AF improvements. And they kept the flash!!
I didn't expect them to put the 40MP sensor on the smaller bodies, but I wasn't expect the same sensor as the last generation. At least the processor is new so there are some meaningful improvements.
Double the battery life, much better AF and tracking, one more stop of stabilization... nothing wrong with that sensor, it wasn't the bottleneck before
It's not 2013, where "a sensor from five years ago" still meant something in terms of IQ. The potential of BSI CMOS has been pretty much maxed out for a while now.
I'm decently interested in this camera. I got the xt5 for the many improvements of the new processor, but honestly it just feels like the 40mp is overreaching. Lots of diffraction at closed apertures, all but the most pricey lenses not being sharp enough to fully resolve it and somewhat slow readout speed makes me ponder other options, this might just be the exact solution for me, as the XH2s is just breaking the bank
My feelings about the XT5 too. I've been disappointed in my pictures with it, which often seem softer than what I got with the XT30 with the same lenses. Something tells me the XS20 will produce better results.
@@simontrezise8495 suprised to hear so many people complain about the same thing..my cousen just got it 2 weeks ago and told me he was way pleased with the photos taken with his xe3
@@Indydi "soulless" 🤪Never heard anything more ridiculous. Does the camera greet you when you turn in on? You probably expect it to say, "thank you for turning me on" 😂
I bought the XS 10 in February as a lightweight camera for cycle touring. I would be interested to see how this XS 20 compares to the Canon R7 for video as they are both 4k 60p and in New Zealand where I live are about the same price body only. I got $200 off the XS10 so got it for 650 less than what the XS 20 will be selling for in NZ.
Thanks a lot for the Review on XS-20 and It's Wonderfull , We would like to is there any Vedio Limit in this Camera and it would have been really good if this could have dual Card Slot ,as this would have been a boon for Beginners
Do you think it would be better to buy the Fujifilm X-S20 with the XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 kit lens, the 15-45mm lens (black), or just the camera body and then purchase a third-party lens? Which lens would you recommend for both video and photography that is still fairly compact?
In the last two years, Fujifilm cameras have become my favourite because their cameras deliver high-quality videos and photos. I am glad that this model has the capability of recording in 4K 60P 10-bit 4:2:2 internally which is awesome!. Thanks for the review Evelyn and Dave
It looks great. I’m actually debating whether to trade my x-t30 and x-t4 for just this one camera. I prefer carrying a smaller camera but this looks a good alternative to the x-t30. Problem is I love my x-t30 😂 I’m not sure what is the largest lens that would be realistic to use with this sized body either and whether I’d like a pasm dial again. I’d really love to hire one before taking the plunge but they’re all pre order atm so doubtful any for hire before pre orders sell out
@@ruki9043 thanks. I went to the store I usually use and looked at an x-s10 for size as very similar. I haven’t jumped in yet as I’d find it really hard to part with my x-t30. I feel like some are seeing it as more of a video camera due to the addition of the video features however it still appears to be an excellent stills camera. I’m not expecting photos above the quality off the x-t4 but do like the look of the newer autofocus. I still might see if one can be hired eventually to see how I feel about a pasm dial again too. I’m even debating whether it’s even worth trading my old lens as it’s not worth a lot and still takes great photos!! Thanks for the reply
Fuji has so many options. No other manufacturer works this hard at catering to niche crowds. I'm coming from Sony, and can't wait to get my hands on a Fuji (can't decide which one!). Sony has just about killed my love for photography, and only Fuji makes me want to shoot again. Their cameras and their IQ is unique.
Thanks Fuji for setting the bar way higher in this segment! well done. obviously not your long-recording-A-Cam, but awesome for pretty much the rest... and now kinda forces the rest. love it! me beeing "fluent" in the panasonic-world now hope for a mft variant of this: a mix of G9, G91 (size), S5 IIx
Good question. We have X-S10 bodies in stock at The Camera Store in Canada, so it's hard to say which camera you'd get first. The performance upgrade would be nice if you can wait for the new model.
@@TheCameraStoreTV The X-S10 seem to be all out of stock in Australia for now. Stores have just opened up preorders for the X-S20 and they're $1,000aud more than the X-S10. I think I'll be happy with the X-S10 lol.
A neat camera but not sure of the significance of the upgrades. I liked most of the X-S10 but I just couldn't get past how it looks like a Nikon but I couldn't make it control like my Nikons. I wanted it as the little buddy for the Nikons but that didn't work. I'm mostly happy with the X-T30II instead.
Looks like Fujifilm actually listened to the people, and made the camera people requested without any restraint! How is the weather sealing? How is the video AF, is it smooth and reliable ?
Another great review, cheers from the north of Canada. I returned my XS-10 after just a few days as I hated that they removed the d-pad. Every time I picked up this camera the focus point moved because my thumb and fingers would hit the joystick. I don't get why they removed this in the first place. After our Christmas pictures were ruined by being out of focus I returned it. I was hoping they were going to put them back but I guess they didn't. I wonder will they cheap out again on the X1006 ?
I am very interested in this camera, mainly for using in (military) aviation photography. Would like to hear more about the subject-detection mode(s) for airplanes/jets.
How’s the af? This maybe the best vlogging camera for video and budget friendly options from fujifilm. Much cheaper than the xh2 or xh2S and smaller and the xt5 unfortunately no flip screen
@@CincyDude5 Interestingly, Julia Trotti mentioned she did a photoshoot in the rain with it and it held up okay. She said BTS for that shoot will be on the official Fujifilm RU-vid channel so we'll have to see what they say about it.
Hi! I'm a beginner looking my first camera, and I'm torn between the X-T30 II and the latest X-S20. Can you guys help me out and share your thoughts on which one would be the better option for a beginner like me? I'd really appreciate your insights and experiences. Thanks!
Depends on what type of shooter you want to be. IMO, XS-20 is leaps ahead as a camera for photography and video. Also, more efficient and faster when it comes working in the field. Xt30v2 is capable but incomparable in features. It’s like having a foot race with your aging dad in his 50s when you in the 20s, Unless you a fat house cat. If you just have taking photography in mind and like to take time to frame your shots and twist knobs then XT 30v2 might be a cheaper option. Although, carrying around a xt30v2 might get you more cool points for looking like you belong in the old soul hipster genre of photographers.
@@bilbo8338No, once you get accustomed to it you’ll realize how functional the tilting screen is. Easily take high and low shots, and selfies, Very useful for video recording. With the tilting screen you have more options. I got into Fuji-film system with the Xs-10 and purchased the XT5 at launch. The XS-10 also has built in flash, not the best performance but it’s functional when you need jt. After using both camera, I prefer the XS-10 ergonomics and functionality over the XT5. I think it’s a better everyday camera, carry the mini fixed lens or a 18-55 and you got a dam good set up for street and portrait. I don’t have the version 2 because of the recent XT5 purchase but I want it really bad. Lol..II guess I’ll wait till the V3 drops
The xs10 used cheap materials. The flash housing, the dials, the screen housing, and the bottom plates are all poor quality plastic. Did they improve that?
No, the body design is similar to the XS10. The more affordable (plastic) materials keep it in line with the pricing of other APS-C cameras in this price range.
@@TheCameraStoreTV I get using plastic, but I found the plastic to be poor quality. The bottom plate on my xs10 got deep grooves--not simply scratches-- from a quick release mount. The flash housing is also much thinner plastic than on my old xt10. That's disappointing that Fuji is using lower quality materials and increasing the price (by 30%, no less) over their older entry level models.
The S10 has four customizable slots (C1-C4). The S20 only has four, as well. This is regrettable. A number of other Fujifilm cameras, albeit more expensive ones, have seven. If they're going to match some of the latest fundamental components/features found in the T5 or other higher-end units, why not match this one, too? Of all the upgrades it strikes me that this one wouldn't have been that tough to include. For shooters who enjoy playing with film sim recipes, four slots is not enough.
We only had early access to the X-S20 and didn't know what else they would or would not be announcing. Hopefully, we will see an X-Pro 4 in the future. We love the X-Pro 3. But it's definitely due for an update. It would be a perfect candidate for their newer 40MP sensor.
