So after having all these crops applied to the video image, it might be best to have the WCL on to have the image closer back to a 35mm, mitigating the crop issue?

Sure, but the WCL - and TCL - make it too large and ungainly in my view. At that point you might as well get a camera with a wider lens to start with.

When you tested the ND filter were those shots done in F-log 2? I'm curious cause I've heard the minimum iso in F-log is 1000, and was wondering if the ND is enough to bring it down to a reasonable exposure. It would be unfortunate if you always have to stop down the aperture in log outdoors.

No I didn't use Log for those, and yes, you're right, it starts at a higher ISO, so you'd probably need something stronger to reach 1/50 or 1/60 at large apertures in daylight.

Depends entirely on ambient temps and direct sunlight if any. It's way better than earlier models but as a small camera, it's slways going to be an issue. If you want guaranteed long times, go for something bigger

Quite busy this morning, so I get to enjoy this during my lunch break as the lord originally intended. (barely survived the rolling shutter test) Quite informative as usual sir. I would love Sony to be inspired by these events and bring back another version of the RX100 with a 24-70mm (eq) large aperture zoom P&S. Perhaps mix things up even with a 20-50mm pocket cam.

One reason is that it is between some of the lens elements rather than directly in front of the sensor.

This is from the X100VI product page on the Fujifilm online store. I guess that doesn't necessarily mean gyro data is available in video, but the hardware seems to be there?

I hope Fujifilm can improve the IBIS function with camera movement. Even with smooth and slow handheld panning, the 100VI struggles where larger cameras I've used like the R5/R6 are extremely smooth.

Fuji’s default IBIS (without digital stab) actually looks pretty good for handheld footage if rolling shutter is eliminated. So basically the XH2s.

@@cameralabs Yes, and also for stills I feel the X100VI IBIS falls behind the Fujifilm claim of 6 stops. In practice I find I can only go down to about 1/30 sec. without really concentrating and using the best possible handheld technique. That's about one stop lower than I could on the 100V. Part of that is the insane pixel density of 40mp on APS-C, which makes it a bit harder to freeze motion (since we're looking at the image at a higher magnification now).

When you do the eye tracking test, it would be great if you would describe what tracking sensitivity and what AF speed you have in the settings*, otherwise it's a bit of a misguided exercise to demonstrate the responsiveness performance. It may be extra work, but tests at the fastest, mid, and slowest AF settings could demonstrate what 'focus pulling' styles the camera can offer. Otherwise, a quality review! (* I don't have a X100 but I assume the setting is found when the camera is in movie mode, press Menu > AF MF side tab > AF-C CUSTOM SETTING.

@@cameralabs Yes I get that, but unless the camera can't lock on the eyes eventually for a failure, the message of the test is that "this camera is only so responsive, or this is how fast it is to act/change" etc, when it's very well meant to behave that way as a setting choice. Such a test will be naturally be viewed like a lens near & far focus speed test as a absolute single capability. Ok, so you show the results of a default setting, but so people (novices) are in the know, they need to know that that is actually merely a default setting behaviour, but it can be more sticky or faster in response (... "now let's test that" ...), or slow for a less frantic smooth transfer. Thanks, cheers.

Haha! Well, if you come looking for drunks, you'll certainly find a few around here as at the weekend Brighton is a party town! You're most likely to find me opposite the pier for the side-on view I use, and a few people have stopped to say hello! Although sometimes I need to be discreet about what Im testing as it may not be out yet.

I don't know why, but the video output looks over sharpened/crunchy much like tiny sensor phone footage. I've seen much better, butter smooth output from other Fuji aps-c.

Hmm, that's odd. The sensor and processor are the same as several other x cameras... it might be I used standard film sims and others used eterna or f log.

Honestly, I still haven't fully accepted it. It's definitely a nice camera (must be, since it's the first in 13 years I last bought a camera) but 1800 euro great? Hmm...

Gordon how about if fuji design this camera for vlogger fuji x100 vlogger with flip screen , 20mm f2 Lens, 3.5mm microphone and headphone jack, faster card, with additional 50mm teleconverter lens, same 40mp sensor. Etc. Bigger battery.... Now they are selling fuji x100 vi on moutains then the new vlogger camera they will sell on mount everest only 😂😂😂😂😂😂.
