That’s like saying i shouldn’t tell people to learn how to drive a car but put it in cruise control.. half of the time TTL doesn’t work well but if you learn the basics you’ll know why and can adjust.

When using on camera flash like this, what metering Methode do you use? Spot, Center or Matrix? I find that the results vary a lot depending on what I use and i am still experimenting what is best for this look.

I usually have it set to a specific setting for my simulation. Specially since I mainly edit the raw files, so I jsut change it in post

I highly recommend looking up the LightPix flashQ Q20ii for your X-100v. All manual pocketable off camera flash with a tiny box receiver for under 80 bucks. Paired with the WCL and you’re good to go. Adds so much flexibility to an already great daily camera without too much weight to carry.

Ehhh I use the TTL mostly. I heard Fuji’s compact flashes have super slow recovery speeds too

Excuse my ignorance, I'm pretty much a beginner when it comes to manual camera settings! What is the benefit at shooting ISO640 rather than a lower ISO when there is a fair bit of light around?

The Fujifilm cameras have a setting called Dynamic Range 200 and 400. This setting requires the camera to be set at ISO 320 and 640 respectively. The camera then internally uses different ISO values for different areas of the image. Highlights with lower, shadows with higher ISO. This prevents highlights from blowing out and shadows from turning to black.

Hi there! Awesome video! I just got into flash photography and am now trying some stuff with the x100vi. I noticed that the TTL is pretty slow - the delay between the first metering flash and the photo itself is about half a sec... is that normal? When using my external flash on my Sony, you don't even notice the first flash because the second one is nearly instantaneous..

Yeah it’s not the TTL it’s the recycle time of the flash. This is why I’m upset Fuji didn’t update the battery on the new one. And yes an external flash will always be better because it has its own power source

For these fun little shoots, I’m just going after like retro vibes and less like high end portfolio stuff. So def gravitate to the X100V for that. But the canons quality and color fidelity is still next level so 100% am using that for most shoots.

How would i achieve this look with my SonyA7c and Godox v1 flash? I've tried so many different settings and modes and flash power and my images keep coming out all yellowy uneven skin tone on the models skin and it's not a nice smooth blended look like these. Heeeelp
