BEST review out there, I have been looking at them for 2 weeks , may buy soon.... I like how you went thru the basic controls and the menus no one else did the menus on this. My only concern is the display on sunny days, otherwise I like everything about it.
Good review, much of the XT-1 appears in the X70 and that's why it is a great street shooter. I purchased the Nikon Coolpix A very cheaply for £215 but for approximately £500 both Ricoh and Fuji have excellent offerings.
Thoughtful and detailed review. Thank you! Just an idea, but perhaps Fuji could implement a mode where the LCD serves as a giant histogram display? This would be useful for those who use an optional OVF. The histogram display would be entirely black and white (contrasty) and useful in setting exposure in bright sun. :)
It sounds like a decent camera though quite expensive at the start. But what scares me off most in mirror-less cameras is the absence of the optical zoom.
+Anthony Loomsberg Not all mirrorless cameras are like this camera. My Fuji X-T1 has lenses like my normal SLR camera. They tried to make the X70 as small as possible.
Wonderful review. Thanks. But I'll stick with my X100S. Having said that, the bride has offered to buy me an X70 for Christmas. I'm tempted, but I can show six areas where the X70 is inferior. But do I want an X70 ... yeah. Looks like a great little camera, but compared to the X100S or X100T it's flawed. Seems Fuji was trying to wring that last dregs out of an old tech. But, yeah, I still want one.
A solution of for the problem that your wife had seeing the screen at the beach might be to use a foldable lcd screen shade. The make them for 3 inch screens.
Hello, my name is Marianne and I just watched a bunch of your videos and found them very helpful, which is why I subscribed. I found especially useful the one about off camera flash that you posted back in 2015 but I had a few questions. I am not going to flood here with my questions, but I just would like to let you know that I sent my questions to your email that you provided on your website I hope you don't mind and dont' think that it's junk email. Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from you soon:)
+afmarin90 They seem to me to be quite different cameras. The X70 seems like a specialist camera with plenty of customisable buttons and manual controls tailored specifically for street shooters. The LX100 is more versatile and general purpose with its zoom lens. I would think unless you know you want the X70 (for street shooting), the LX100 will be more suitable for most people.
Thanks! yea I've been struggling to decide which camera I would rather have. Having the versatility of the zoom is nice, but the Fuji also has the "zoom" option. I like that the screen tilts but I like that the lx100 has a viewfinder also. It's a tough one but thank you for replying.
+afmarin90 I love talking photography so no problem at all! I just got the X70 and I love it. If I'm not wrong, the "zoom" is just a digital crop and not full resolution, so I wouldn't use it. I'm a Fuji fan (I have the X-T10 also) and I just love their camera design and dials, film simulation modes, excellent jpegs etc. which you don't get from other camera makers. That said, the LX100 is also a gorgeous camera with impressive specs and great value now (esp. if you can find one used), so you probably won't be disappointed either way (:
