I agree that this lens can be a great everyday lens for general photography. I have mine permanently mounted to my X-T2 and it goes out with me everytime that I have no particular subject in mind. I still would prefer to have the option of a faster aperture for some subjects, so I would not consider this an "only lens you need", lens, but it can be an 80% lens for my use. I have no regrets after owning this lens for thousands of images.

I have a feeling that the ovf on the x-pro cameras is very limited to fujicron plus 2 pancake lenses. Hope it changes in mk4

I don't own this lens, have though about it but I have some concerns I would only occasional shoot macro, I'm a portrait photographer and I don't often like stopping a lens down past F/2.8 or F/4 as I want just enough in focus I have other F/1.4 lenses that are good at F/1.4 but brilliant by F/2.8 as most lenses perform better when stopped down a little. For portrait work, the F/2.8 is a constraint less so if it is brilliant wide open. I would only really consider this lens if my current 35mm F/1.4 died, but then, it would be considering this lens the 33mm F/1.4 or the many 3rd part options we now have.

I go hiking and like macro shots as well as landscapes like valley shots, the 30mm is too tight?

Would you prefer this or the 35mm f2? Since both are pretty much similar in focal length. If you consider, focusing, weight and size. Which one would you get?

Nah - I am sticking with my 18-55mm kit lens :D I get your point, but when I am travelling and travelling with just one lens, it is still the only one for me. And it is attached to an X-T5 :D

The minimum focusing distance might sound unusable to casual shooters, but there is at least 1 professional who uses this lens with extension tubes to get 2:1 images of insects. 🙈

I actually find the 30mm WR abhorrent. This is nothing to do with the IQ or the slow maximum aperture. It is plain ugly and the size is disproportionate. It looks like a semi-erect mechanical phallus stuck to the front of one's camera. Which is sadly ironic, as one of the major points of Fujifilm cameras is that they look so good and make you want to use them. Fujfilm should have been less ambitious and made it shorter. This would have meant making it have a 1/2 life size reproduction ratio but that wouldn't matter as using a 1:1 ratio on a standard focal length is plain silly.
