Hey, I see my comment in that list :D great video as always Chris, one more thing: The L iso values (125, 100 and 80) also don't show if you shoot in electronic shutter mode, as I'm sure you are well aware because you mentioned it before - only writing it here for those who haven't watched that video yet. Slightly off-topic because the only way I know how to talk to you is in your comments section - relating to auto ISO - on my X-T4 w/ 18-55mm what I noticed is that there is some f*ery going on in "multi" metering mode, where it overexposes the highlights, and in auto ISO (manual SS/manual aperture) it comes up with a higher auto ISO value (about 1/3 of a stop higher) for the same SS/aperture values, than if you expose in "average" metering, which always delivers a lower (or I guess proper) auto ISO value. Of course "average" metering distributes the exposure evenly across the entire shot, but to me, that is a win-win given I get lower ISO and it doesn't blow out my highlights the way multi does. You haven't asked for this - just thought I'd share, perhaps a topic for a future video :D
Yep. And I thought it was me going bats--t crazy with this also. Yes, I almost never meter in multi mode if I can help it. It does seem to crank up the ISO more than it should. Definitely a topic for a future (or many RANT) video, LOL!
@@pal2tech I wanted to follow up because I got distracted and missed the last half of the video, about X-T4 review. I've bought this camera about a month and a half ago, after I did my homework on all the reviews out there, even so, it's your review that I look forward to the most ;) I actually do appreciate that you aren't rushing it. All too many content creators do, just to push a video out. Have a great weekend sir!
@root9065 Thank you for your comment! I couldn't figure out why I didn't see ISO high and low, I didn't know that it depends on shutter mode. Thank you! @pal2tech Thank you for your videos, I've watched many of them, you are doing amazing job!
I appreciate you taking time with your review, a lot of the reviews of the camera on RU-vid feel like the old QVC ads on TV and I feel some of the complaints are from users that have not explored their device!
Thanks Renata! LOL, I remember those QVC ads! I think somewhere in some Holiday Inn somewhere there's a TV still running them. Oh those days (the 90's I think?).
GREAT GREAT GREAT suggestion! Currently, I literally have been throwing everything into a gym bag (not kidding!) as I'm so damn rushed for these video shoots, but yes, I have some opinions on backpacks as well!
@@pal2tech Great suggestion by @EduCrackie's Channel. Would be looking forward to your suggestion. I'll be especially interested for one that can be used in minimal travel.
Just need to say it... I love your t-shirt. Looking forward to your X-T4 thoughts. I value your reviews because of your thorough evaluations, and thoughtful conclusions. Not everyone is the same with theirs! Hope you had a great weekend. Andrew
Smooth follow up to auto iso vid. Nice catch on movie mode dial snag. Greatness takes time. Make no wine before it's time, as they used to say. Of course, wait too long and the stuff turns to vinegar.😊 Look forward to your XT-4 review; hope it will be based on most current firmware updates.
Thanks once again for putting me right on my Auto ISO setting - When I used my canon 5D ML 1V you just set ISO on Auto and nothing more to worry about while Fuji T3 seems to be a little complicated.
Thanks that would explain why mine was stuck on 200 iso when I switched to C, I must have knocked the dial. I may not take my manual with me when out and about, but it's good to know you have our backs 😁
Thanks Chris, something to keep in mind if I upgrade from 3 to 4. At this stage I am not contemplating upgrading to xt4 but you can try and convince me when you do your review.
Enjoying the increased cadence of videos. Great stuff! Other than IBIS, the ISO C mode is the first feature that kind of makes me kind of envious of the XT4...
Thanks Christopher! Yeah, IBIS is the big draw, but trust me, the XT4 does have some issues (at least for me). I'm working on the final stages of testing now for the video!
Viltrox 23mm f1.4 Fuji. Great prime with a lot of flexibility for wedding. Portrait you will want 56mm prime. Or even the 35mm f/2 is a wonderful lens.
Those of us who care about reviews that are based on real-life use of more than just 5 days, in different situations, and above all honest will gladly and patiently wait!!! Enjoy your weekend!
1:43 I just checked on my X-Pro3 and it looks like dialing through "C" only goes up to ISO High value on that camera... no scrolling through ISOA1-3, which is a bummer! It's either a bug or missing...
Thanks for your videos 🙏 You have taught me many things 😊 I had this issue but it was because I had changed from mechanical shutter to electronic shutter. Now I'm back in mechanical I can go down to 80iso again. 1 question while on the topic. Which shutter would you recommend for focus stacking? Thanks for all of your very educational videos, much appreciated!!
Thank you! For focus stacking, as long as the camera is on tripod and subject is completely motionless, you can use pretty much any SS. Just make sure whatever SS you choose it will ensure that your ISO is 160 (which is best place to be overall).
I cant wait to see your X-t4 review. Gosh,. I need to do a review as well. Is 4 years, after a release, of a camera too late to make a review? I'm jk! I should make one. I'm going to torch it with all these new advance camera coming out. Yup. This is going to get so ugly on my end. lol.. Have a great weekend!
Hey Chris, 3 of us have posted a note that our Button Dial Menu does not show these high and low ISO setting options as seen at 2:00 min into your video. They just aren't there. Do you still see them in that location with firmware version 1.1, which is the latest?
@@jmgrnoc I learned that you can't access extended ISO if the shutter is set to Electronic. When I set the shutter to Mechanical, the extended ISO can be accessed.
Besides movie mode, another setting that prevents low and high iso from appearing in command mode is electronic (ES) shutter. I was just tripped up by that one.
So does the the hight and low ISO not work at all in video or are the setting s just missing. I'm guessing they just dont work but it isnt enirely clear. a bit too fast
Same situation. In still mode, those high and low ISO settings don't appear on menu 1 of 3 shown at the 2:00 mark on his video. I wonder if it's a firmware difference.
I have my settings in still mode, and have put my ISO settings to 'c' but I see no ISO Low or high showing up, on using the scroll button. The problem is low/High ISO doesn't show up in HDR setting 😐
I have a question about XT-4. I cannot find the ISO dial setting L in menu which shown in your video. Whether the firmware version has changed? I'm using the latest version. I'm in struggle with damm ISO 80
Hi Chris: Picked up the XT4 yesterday and traded in the XT3; I am yet to see if I made the right decision. Just this morning, I was wondering about the Hi & Lo ISO setting on the ISO dial and here you're!!!! Thank you for solving the problem for me. By the way, I have started looking into an L-bracket for the XT4. Many members from one of the FB Fuji groups suggested the Smallrig L bracket for XT4. Do you have any suggestion? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Congrats on your new camera! Yeah, I have a smallrig cage for my XT4. I don't have an l-bracket yet, but if smallrig has one, that would be the one I'd get. Smallrig makes some great stuff and I've never had any problems with them. I usually just leave mine on the cage so don't have one just yet.
@@pal2tech Thank you Chris! I am inclining toward the Smallrig l bracket with silicone grip. It's on back order. I'll wait a few days and then place an order.
X-T4 - Hi: When I used to click on the "Rear Command Dial" to check the Focus, it always worked but now it randomly magnifies the scene or nothing happens. I am talking about "Auto Focus" Stills photography NOT Manual Focus Mode. Of course, the Rear Command Dial focus check works in Manual Stills and Video modes. Is there something I am missing? Thank you.
When it's doing that, what are the other settings, i.e., AF-C, AF-S, etc. set to and have your checked into the AF/MF settings menu to see if anything is amiss there?
Hi Chris. I am looking at upgrading from my xt1, which I still really like. Right now I can buy a used xt3 with a cheap lens for $1200 Canadian. But I have been watching videos about the xt4 and it looks impressive. But it’s $2300 just for the body which make me wonder if it’s worth the extra $1100. Thoughts?
Get the XT3. Now I don't know your shooting style or needs, but the XT3 is perfect in just about every way. The XT4 does have better video, but the video on the XT3 is damn good. Unless you absolutely need IBIS, the XT3 is the best mirrorless camera around and the best deal you'll find. Save the extra $$$ and get yourself an extra lens or something.
