Those family video clips were really astonishing, they evoked so much emotion in me! I especially liked the window silhouette and the last shot of your child looking outside the (train?) window. So inspiring!
Am upgrading from my XT20! Love you review on the XT5. Your documentations on your family is really really beautiful. The joy on your kids … beautiful!
I came here to see the review for the xt-5 review but got in love with your photography, very lovely family pictures! I am sure your kids will appreciate this in the future! Greetings from Costa Rica! Pura vida
I switched from Sony to Fuji for the XT5, love it and I am never looking back. I love the form factor, colors, and lens lineup. Love what you shared about documenting family. It inspired me to bring my camera more.
I’ve had my xt5 for 11 months and I love it! It is so light and I come away with some wonderful images. Thanks Reggie for your review. I may have to copy your settings and also use the digital teleconverter instead of cropping.
I've been shooting weddings for years on my trusty xt2 & xt20 combo. Considering upgrading to a xt5 and xt50 combo... is the low light handling way better with 40mp?
I really loved this review! I've been wanting to finally jump ship from my Canon 5D Mark III and upgrade to better AF and tech, plus I have 9 yr old twins I've been needing to keep up with with my photo/video opportunities!
Great to see your review as always. I haven’t touched my xt5 but I have occasional need for it as family asks me to do family portraits, makeup, etc and as a mom I am gonna need it for my kid’s school etc. what lens do you recommend for school events like concerts? I have the kit lens right now 18-55 f2.8. I really don’t miss the heaviness of Nikon and canon dslr’s and I’m not in the mood to jump the Sony bandwagon. Plus, having this compact xt5 doesn’t make people feel uncomfortable when I’m out shooting public
Hey Reggie, I'll give you my thoughts probably as a landscape photographer. I have used it for a few other things as well but the majority of my work is in landscapes. What can I say about the camera what do I love about it. I love the image quality. This thing is seriously tax sharp. I shoot often at about F9 to F11 and it's a really sharp camera. And while the retro dials are seen as a bit of a novelty for people outside the Fujifilm family as a landscape photographer they are a godsend because you can simply adjust things on the fly. While you're standing over your tripod, or with the camera in your hands. I love the simplicity nature of this camera, and it works really well in many situations. I am often shooting in blue hour and golden hour at the end of the day, and the low light performance of this camera is actually really good. You've just got to know how to correctly expose the photo with a crop sensor camera. With a full frame camera, you can just simply under exposed many images and still rescue them in post you can't do that with the FujifilmXT5, so, in many ways, the FujifilmXT5 has made me a better photographer again because I have to be conscious of light. Okay, I have done some other commercial work with it events people and so forth and I found it to be super reliable. Yes it does miss the odd shot but you'll find bar a Sony camera. Most camera brands are like this and the camera isn't perfect but for the majority of photos I've taken with it of people it's nailed probably about 90% of the shots to 95% I'm happy with that and if you're shooting in burst mode when you're shooting people, one of your photos is gonna be good so it's not a drama at all. I have also used some Nikon lenses on the XT5 as I have the adapter which is the better adapter and it works really well. In fact, I took some awesome sports photography photos of some surfers the other day with the 70 to 200 Nikon and it was an awesome camera to be honest. In that moment I thought wow I can actually do this with this camera and the images were Pin sharp what I would say about this camera is it's a really good all-round camera and to be honest I can't really fault it in too many ways I do wish that I had a slightly higher buffer rate, but you know what you can still burst off 10 or 15 shots over 3 second period and you're gonna get one or two photos that you can still use for what you need them for. Let's go back to the film days we shot sports with film cameras. yes No auto focus and we were still able to take great photos of sports and action with those cameras so this you could still take a great action shot. I think people today want the cameras to be perfect so they can just point it and click the button and I don't see the point in that. I still like it to be a skilful hobby. I love the sharpness of the files that come out of the Fujifilm, Max T5 that's what I really like and even when I push the ISO up to 1600 I still get pretty sharp, clean images and nothing that Lightroom den-noise can't fix anyway. I love the screen and the way it works. I don't use the viewfinder a lot but it's adequate a lot of people have complained that the viewfinder should've been better but the trade-off would be then the battery would die quicker. Yes if you have a more brighter EV then that means it uses more battery and your battery goes flat quicker for me I would rather have slightly less detail in the EV and have better battery life as a landscape photographer. Sorry if there's any typos, I use voice text and wanted to give it a longer review. I'm also part of the Fujifilm XT5 Photography page and on Facebook it's a great Community on that page and we all share a common love for this camera. If you go over to that page you will see the love that this camera has
Hello 😊I have a few questions. I do food photography and videography and I'm wondering if this camera is good for shooting closeup food videos in low light? Also in chapter 4 did you use a lens or just the body to shoot these amazing photos? Thank you so much !!
I owned a XT2 in the past couple of years and upgraded to Xt5 last year. Xt5 is undoubted a faster and more reliable camera comparing to xt2, and better in many aspects. However, sometimes I missed the Color produced by xt2 especially in Provia, which is a bit different in the two machines.
I agree. I too have a XT2 and upgraded to XT5. 5 is not as enjoyable as 2. The colors are not that great, as well as the build quality. The only good part with 5 is the autofocus. Its much much improved.
I've had the X-T5 for 6 months, I love it, but hate it ! It's to small the ergonomics for me it's like a toy. I need a battery grip, I shoot concerts, I also have the X-T4 and with the added grip the ergos are night and day. I will probably move it on for the XH-2.
Looking at cameras to upgrade my current canon m50, one of the biggest things I’m looking for is better low light capabilities. How does this hold up to full frame camera’s in your opinion?
Hola! Gracias!
Interesting to hear your feedback, but it seems to me that the T30 does 95% if not more of the same. I got mine used and it’s amazing value that has a lot of the “critical” parts you mentioned. Yes the sensor is older and the autofocus - worse. But other than that, for day to day photography of memories - such a great little camera.
I really got the x-t5. I'm loving it so far. I will be going home to see my family for Christmas after a very long time. I'm really looking forward to taking pictures and videos of my Nephew.
At last, a non nonsense informative X-T5 video. I’ve had mine for about a month now (moving over from Nikon) and thought I was stuck with ISO 125; no longer. Also, I prefer front and back dials for ISO and SS.
Hey Reggie, did your camera's SD card door have some sort of flex and squeak to it when pushed inward? Not sure if it's normal, but it makes sense that it would be if the rubber seals are just rubbing together. The flex also makes sense since the spring is just naturally trying to push the door outward, creating an inconspicuous gap. I just want to make sure I’m not overlooking a design flaw with the squeaking haha. Cheers!
@Reggiebphoto I can feel the flex just when gripping the camera naturally, it's this way on other Fujis with similar card door designs too (eg GFX100S). Nothing to worry about, I think
I love it upgraded from the XT 30 which I really enjoyed but very happy with the upgrades. Don’t plan on, leaving to do anything with the camera body for sometime!
I have the X T5 and love it. Can’t tell difference in image quality vs X T3, T4 and X H2s. Don’t need 40 mp lol. 26 more than enough. Af better than T4 but not as good as X H2s.
I absolutely love mine, had it since the start of the year and honestly I was not super impressed by the AF at the start but the recent software updates have improved things so much! Love using it with my 27 f/2.8 and 35 f/1.4 lenses. Still wish I could find an X100V for the occasional grab & go but maybe the next version will have better availability 🤷🏽♂️
I am really considering the X-H2 but I seriously cannot get over the flip screen. My dad shot Canon’s my entire life with flip screens and I’ve always hated it. An update to the H line needs a tilting screen setup.
I purchased it specifically to use 2 specific Nikon full-frame lenses with my X-T5 knowing it doesn't do AF. Based on this, it does the job, and I'm happy with it.
Great review, will buy mine next week after having the X100V for about 2 years (which I intend to keep of course!). Just a stupid question - you said that if you were to start over as a wedding photographer you would go with two X-T5s. So, I am a street photographer only, hence the stupid question, but as a wedding photographer, what is the main reason to have two cameras? To have two different lenses on so that you can more quickly adapt to situations and don't have to switch lenses on one single camera? What lenses would be your default ones to equip those two cameras with then?
You came up with great answers already, friend! Two bodies means less lens switching. Some shoot with one prime and zoom, some take two zooms or two primes. Whatever fits your needs best! There are many exciting and good Combos out there, but generally you would want something like 23 or 33mm and something with more zoom like the 56 or 90mm. Some rely on the 16-50 and 50-150. Having two bodies is also vital safety! If one camera fails, you have at least one back up. Imagine you are booked for the wedding. Everything is checked, packed and you arrive at the wedding. Take a few shots and suddenly your only camera is dead. You are s... out of luck now. Do you want to be the Person to tell the couple that you can't do the job and document this once in a life time event? Bring two bodies :)
Yes, I'm seeing this 8 months later. The digital teleconverter point was a lightbulb for me. One prime lens, but 3 lengths. SMART. And it was your x100vi tip to get off the top dials and use the front and back that I follow thanks to you.
As an X-T3 owner who shoots films with my RED and other pro cinema cameras, I really didn't care about the video section of this presentation. BUT YOUR KIDS, hahaha. They made me die from their ridiculous cuteness and you really reminded me to shoot more video of my own family. Oh yeah, and I just ordered the X-T5. Woohooooo!
@@Reggiebphoto sorry for the confusion. I was just saying I was going to skip the video section, but then I actually really enjoyed it and you reminded me I need to capture more video of my kids!
You are fearless! Thanks for being honest about shooting jpeg only! Most pros are afraid to admit it. I don't think it is possible as easily with Sony, Canon or Nikon , because they do not allow as much customization in camera. This attracts more people to Photography, who can't afford a powerful computer with discrete graphics for editing RAW files or who enjoy capturing images with a film style digital camera and think editing is a PITA.
It’s lovely to see you boys having fun. The portrait of your son just after he’s playing with the car in the muddy water is great. I guess this is where your autofocus helps.
Really well put together video. I think i’ve moved to other camera systems but you are Fuji’s best salesman, whether they acknowledge you or not. PS, especially like those night shots you showed with a glow filter effect. Very cool look!
I've been loving the X-T5 so much. I've shot it for close to a year now and it's noticeably better at autofocus. I loved the flip screen from the X-T3 but the resolution wasn't great. The X-T4 screen looks great, but I didn't like the tilt swivel as much. The X-T5 isn't perfect but it includes everything I liked from previous Fuji cameras without losing the import functionality and character from previous models. It's a great camera for nearly any situation. Great video and nice photos as well. Keep it up!
Hey! Love the video, your last couple on the xt5 convinced me to upgrade, though I went xh2 to try something new. The ch2 had a firmware update that lets you assign ISO to a dial, super cool! Thanks for the content!
Hello! This video was super helpful thank you so much, I loooveee your photos! I wondered what lenses you used for these photos? I'm an amateur photographer and I had my old digital camera stolen which was Nikon, I've used film in the mean time but just with old cameras with fixed lenses. I want to buy a mirrorless digital camera especially as I am about to go travelling for a while, so want to get a transportable camera but then also a go-to for anything after I stop travelling, so felt like the XT5 might be a good option! Hoping to get 2 lenses, one small compact one, and one that's a bit bigger with more zoom for when I'm not travelling but I am unsure which ones to get!
Man, I bought the XH2s, and I’ve loved it, but there are times when I wish I had the XT5. I’m more of a filmmaker, so I bought the XH2s as an alternative to my BMPCC 6K Pro, going for a hybrid camera. But I find that when I reach for the XH2S it is more for photos than video.
@@warrenc2306 - i was working direclty with Fujifilm techs and pretty sure my feedback led to the fix for x-h2/x-h2s but they never flowed it down to x-s10
Awesome video. Love it. I have experience shooting with the X-T1, X-T3, X-T4 and X-H1. Awesome cameras all of them. Would love to find some mint ones one day and keep them all. Sold them when upgrading. I recently owned a X-H1 but it got stolen, autofocus was not so cool but i got some kickass shots with it. I will pick up a black Fujifilm X-T5 tommorow.m. Would have loved a silver one, but those are harder to come by. I will pair the X-T5 woth a 50-140 for now. Kind of big, but good thing i have it, shots with 140 look amazing. Big fujifilm fan and addict, love them. Thanks for the vid. Very inspiring. Keep up the good work!
Two words...... Full Frame? I am glad they have not tried to be a Frankenstein photo/video hybrid. My Google smartphone has unbelievable video technology and I prefer a camera that just focuses on photography. If only fujifilm would reinvent their lines of lenses for full frame enthusiasts.
@@Reggiebphoto Wow, so rude. Rest assured I won't be back. No need to be so defensive is there? Fuji Fan boys are just too aggressive to anyone who thinks differently.
@@Reggiebphoto I have all Fujinon primes. 23mm 1.4 older version, 35mm 1.4, 56mm 1.2, 80mm Macro 2.8, and when I ordered the XT5 I also got their new 8mm 3.5 lens.
Fuji XT-5 discontinued? What gives? Supplier problems? AF not good enough? Trouble with assembly plant in China? Fuji to drop camera production due to falling demand in US and Europe?
Hey Reggie! First time viewer in your channel and this video is amazing! Definitely insta subbed! Question: I’ve been a Sony user for years now and I’ve been wanting to have a Fuji camera as my personal fun camera apart from my work camera. What lens(es) would recommend for Fuji? And what lenses did you use for those shot of your kids?
Great review and nice footage of your fam. Do you prefer using the 4k or 4khq mode? I saw that 4khq doesn't let you use digital stabilization (just IBIS) and I was curious if that makes it worse for handheld video.
4k hq has more dynamic range than 4k. it's very apparent in the shadows. but unfortunately you have to deal with the slight cropping on the footage. if you check out gerald undone's xh2 video review he goes thru the differences between 4k and 4k hq
I've had my own Fujifilm X-T5 for three days, and from this short time, I can say it's a fantastic camera! I would like to ask, what is that hood on the XF33F1.4 ?
I'm going to be a dad soon and I'm also looking to document stills and video of her growing up. The family part of the video really sold me. I'm gonna sell out of my Canon m6ii and pick of an X-T5 this week.
Thank you for the video. Please advise which lenses really cope with the 40 million X-T5 matrix? There is a lot of information out there that most of the existing Fuji optics are not very good for this camera. Thank you!
is the XT5 AF and eye detect as fast as XH2s ? I have the XT4 and want to get something that I can use for action, fast moving /low light with a higher hit rate than I get on the XT4.
For the chapter 6 of the video, what lens did you use to film those clips? Did you use multiple ones? Wht lens would you recommend for those type of shootings?
I wish had a positive experience with mine. It felt super cheap to me after using an XT4, and paint started flaking off after minimal use. Returned it before the 30 day mark and ended up throwing in the Fuji towel entirely after that.
I am still with my XT2. I try JPEG only for a few months but I am not really sure if it’s the best for me. I tested many Recipes but didn’t find the perfect one. But the camera still is amazing, looking good and produces amazing photos. The XT5 is way to expensive for me atm, but maybe in the future I will upgrade. Nice video and amazing photos 🎉
Your videos are among the best quailty photography related content I've literally ever seen on RU-vid. It's a great mixture and balance of professional and personal content capturing the real essence and meaning of photography (according to my personal taste). You deserve waaaaay more subscribers! So starting +1, subscribing to your channel:) Thank you for the great content and keep up the great work!
Awesome review and amazing photos! Tho colours in your photos are beautiful. Did you really not do any post processing on those (ie they're JPGs)? I recently listened to your podcast on Fujilove which was interesting. Do you have your JPG recipes available anywhere? Thanks!
Af-s single point. All day. I dialed this in on the x-t3 for weddings and demanding scenarios and it’s the most reliable way to use fujifilm autofocus.
Nope the af doesn’t work for Nikon. Nor did I purchase it expecting to. I got the speedbooster specifically because I wanted to adapt specific Nikon lenses that I used before
I plan to buy this end of next year (2024), i feel it is about time, been saving slowly. I've had my XT3 for years now, it is still working awesomely no problem. Just slowly upgrading. And i can still keep my XT3 for 2nd kit with diff fixed lens.
So I actually just bought this camera, primarily with the guidance and review from this video to push me over the edge, and because I am new to not only this camera but also the FUJI realm could someone maybe help me out and let me know how @Reggiebphoto programed the function button to bring up the film simulation recipes at 3:00, that would be awesome!
hold down the disp/back button, this will open the function menu. Set the button to be the custom setting function (for film sim recipes) or film simulation for the default film sims
I've had this camera for about a year now but I only purchased manual lenses. Today my first autofocus lens came but the autofocus does not work when I push down the shutter halfway. It only seems to work when I use the back button Autofocus. I've tried changing all my settings around but nothing seems to work. Maybe my shutter button is just broken and it doesn't work halfway.
