I’m just at show #2, and I am curious-is Dex a horse that takes time to get going forwards? He’s really long, so I know that comes with challenges. But honestly-you ride him SO WELL! Regardless of the distance choices, you commit and go with him and it’s amazing! Those jumps are NOT SMALL! He makes them look easy-you both do! I know when we start showing, my coach always said to aim for consistency and have a base to work from. Not sure if you have winter shows in your area? We are lucky we can, though indoors, it does help us tune our horses up before outdoor season starts (which actually starts indoors, but we have winter/snow so we go with the flow ) ;)
WOW!! Hannah, what a great show season! I’m not sure how many shows you do in a season/how your shows work, but I think you did fantastic! I had to laugh when you said Dex pulls because I rode a Dexter who was the exact same-he would literally drag you down from the fence he was so strong/heavy on the forehand. Course the Dex I rode was 15.2 so a little bit different of an engine :D I can say from riding spooky horses that the cycle of horse being spooky/rider tension/nerves is such a struggle. Watching your second last show when Dex was taking off, I have a similar video of myself with my mare who was just dragging me around our stadium at our Horse Trial and I finally after a combination just sat her back on her butt to slow her down. She was a steam roller on XC too. But those jumps were barely 1m. I can’t imagine 1.30m!! (We did that at home, but not off property). Congrats and you have every right to shine with pride and happiness!! Congrats!
So good! Well done! ⭐😁👌Everything your horse is telling you is right here in this video, he loves to jump 1.30m and you can see in the video he looks happy he got the privilege of taking you around that height even though you were nervous 🤩 you two are a leading pair. 💯✨💝🌻 Stay present ❤️
Nice watching the two of you progress together. He's so big and quirky, he makes 1.3 look easy, but it's hard for him to get you out of trouble... that he puts you in. Keep up the good work, and keep sharing your journey!
