The hydrauilc ram pump is an amazing tool used to take water from a creek or small river and pump it up to a storage tank. This off grid water pump can be used for many things but in this video the water is for hogs and chickens. Later they will use the ram pump water for the garden and greenhouse.
This is a full install of a 3/4" pump. The water from this pump can fill two 275 gallon ibc totes in a day. If you are looking to buy a ram pump you can find them on both Amazon and on the Land To House website.
Please check out the LandTreAir Homestead channel.

an idea to stop the screen on first bucket clogging, fix/glue a fitting in centre bottom inside of bucket, put a 1/ inch pipe long enough so potrudes 2 inches or so above bucket neck line then put screen on, this creating a slight screen elevation from centre down to bucket edges.😇

I’m having a heck of a time figuring out the fitting from pump to 3/4 black polyethylene pipe.. I ordered a 3/4 npt x 3/4 barbed fitting and the pump side was the wrong size.. any help would be appreciated

I had an idea but I don't know if it could be made to work. I want to install a ram pump inside a rainwater collection tank so that when it rains heavily, the pump will push water up to another storage tank on the hill behind the house and provide me with 'gravity feed' pressure in the house. I am hoping that this will work while not wasting the water that escaped the flip valve. We don't have access to any other water on our property. We could install a RAM pump in a creek on a neighboring property, but the distance it would have to travel is considerable. We do have 3 seasonal springs that we could also install RAM pumps in, that we currently store water from and pump using a generator to fill the household tanks.

Why don't you do vent holes on the bottom of the first bucket to prevent silt to accumulate? I mean you do drill vent holes in the second bucket to vent air and excess water. Is there a good/valid reason why you do that this stupid way? You get enough water to overfill both buckets but use only one the second bucket to flush the air but forget to flush the second one? I don't understand this

Last year I angled my waste valve while keeping the air tank vertical. One direction causes the flap to close with very little water (fast cycling). The other slows the cycling because the flap is no longer almost vertical, but is now more horizontal and it requires faster water to slam it shut. Next I timed filling a 20 oz bottle of water at various angles. There was a very significant difference due to the pressure wave caused by faster flowing, low-cycle rate (harder hammer effect) water versus lower flowing, high-cycle rate (softer hammer effect). If you want to test, simply make your flapper 90 degrees to the water flow and begin to angle it.

Your explanation at the 2min 29 second mark, and when you are saying the increased pressure goes back up to the intake side (back to the left), what would happen if you installed another gate valve so that it prevents the flow back the intake side.

The delivery pipe going up hill can be any size you want. The drive pipe feeding the pump needs to match the pump size.

In this setup the head pressure was around 5 feet. The lift height was between 25 and 20 feet to the tanks. The delivery needed to go a little higher to maintain back pressure.

@@LandtoHouse out of curiosity, what kind of drain on the tank do they have on average usage?? And where does excess go once they're both full?? Could you do like a manifold to hook the supply line into and fill both tanks at the same time??
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 3 года назад
You can install a Y fitting on the bottom and that would fill both at the same time. Or you can connect the tanks at the top so that the overflow of one fills the other. This would work well if the tanks are just slightly off from level.

Mr. Teslonian had ram pump and air compressor in the same thing, might work for low pressure release every now and then. Perhaps that way you could have that pressurised air to blow on some turbine for a little bit of electricity, as he also demonstrated. You can see his videos on youtube. I'd like to hear your opinion on that kind of consept.

Ok that makes sense now what about a vertical pipe coming out of the air separating bucket that goes higher then the intake to increase the overall head pressure
@LandtoHouse

If you sealed the bucket and let the pipe stick up it could match the source and increase the head.

Seth, Try experimenting with PEX crimp rings, there are a variety of sizes and you might find that they'll do a better job keeping your couplings in place. You might have to use a 3/4" or 1" PEX crimp ring for your flexible tubing installs. Would save you from the hose-clamps backing off. Used to recommend to install two on barbed fittings, opposing each other to keep vibration and pressure from loosening connections but either crimp/synch or compression rings might do all the wonders for you.
@jamess1787
@jamess1787 3 года назад
Maintenance might take a reduction, but is part of the game? Less maintenance means you can do more with your free time as opposed to tightening hose clamps or finding air leaks/etc.

Yes the delivery pipe going up Hill will work well as 1/2". The drive pipe needs to match the pump at 3/4".
