Ironically armour matters even less this patch than last, since it's about having good plates not good vests nor rigs. It really is such a brash knee-jerk overcorrection from bsg. Mid tier ammo is backto being WORSE THAN LEG META which is terrible game design imo. Return to previous system, but cover armpit with soft+side plate, then up soft armour class on higher up armours to 3.5/4. Maybe even bring back stacking body armour and armoured rigs, but with one one plate per plate 'area'.

I just like that armor isn’t ruined after 1-2 gunfights. The old durability was so egregious

I've been dying consisently to Head, Throat hitbox since the armor changes dropped. I wouldn't call that a statistic but I don't think I'd ever died to that hitbox before. Now I die to it constantly. Food for thought

now that we had some time with the new armor: we are literally back to before the change. if you don't run 308, 277 or 556 you are crippling yourself. it went from almost all guns are kind of viable to 70% are straight not.

It doesnt really make any sense that armors like the Ghzel, and Zhuk are somehow in A tier, whilst the Tactec, Tagilla rig, and Slick are above it in S tier despite not having the ability to insert side plates. While the tactec/tagilla rig/slick might have their aramid cover the "front plate/back plate" hitbox(which I wouldnt be surprised if this was an oversight, and artifact of the old plate hitbox..dont think its meant to cover basically your entire thorax in aramid), the Zhuk/Ghzel basically have just as much aramid coverage(arguably more) on top of side plates. The only advantage something like the Slick has over the Zhuk/Gzhel is the "front plate/back plate" aramid tag giving it aramid over the armpit area, but the Zhuk/Gzhel basically has aramid everywhere outside of that area, including areas that the Slick doesnt cover like the Stomach/Throat/Neck..and has side plates. The throat/neck is just as vulnerable as the armpit in terms of 1 shot=dead, so you can argue that in terms of aramid coverage theyre basically equal(although Zhuk does cover stomach as well, but getting your stomach blacked doesnt put you in immediate danger), which should mean that the addition of side plates pushes the Zhuk/Gzhel over the Slick/Tactec. Its also completely nonsensical to have the 2 CPC rigs in the same tier as the Tactec/Tagilla/Slick, since they all have the same Front/Back Plate aramid coverage...except the CPC's can take side plates while the others cant, which gives them an objective, and clear advantage. Im not sure what the logic is for putting them in the same tier. The Tactec/slick/Tagilla should all be in A tier.

i think side plates on korund is easily better than only soft side protection under armpits on the tv-110.

armor change is not good in my opinion. I get where if you grind you should get better gear but the ammo required to get through this armor is ridiculous to get. If you are making level have this big of a seperation based on ammo you have access to then you need to separate lobbies by level. In other MMO type games you cant go fight a max level at a lower level because of the inability to do damage to higher levels. This armor change puts this in a similar category in my opinion.

i do like videos like this but realistically they just make the game stale and forces people to run identical gear to each other. Instead of spending a wipe figuring out whats good and what's not, you're going to have people immediately running meta gear even if they don't know why its good. Just the state of gaming in the content creation era. kinda sucks, but i still like the videos.

This is just high pen meta bullshit all over again. I think I just won't play the game anymore at this point. Being forced to use meta guns/calibers is just not fun, especially when they locked the ammo behind quests that are the weakest part of Tarkov. At this point you just need to use SVT with meta ammo to even have hope to kill players, and forget about anything actually fun like shotguns.

Sorry if I missed this in a previous video - but when was it found that "thorax" coverage soft armor covers certain areas EXCEPT under the plate? I was under the impression that "thorax" had always indicated an area that included under the plate, not specifically excluding it. That was certainly what I had gathered from your "stop using class 2 soft armor" video which discussed at length how "thorax" soft armor is objectively the best option due to layering under the plate as well as covering some area around it, compared to f. Plate which exclusively layered under the plate. Was this subject to a change, or have I been doing the math wrong for months now?

People keep parroting the "organ system" that would have fixed all issues. Knowing BSG it would have been a broken system they would have had to work on for 5 years and still end up with a way more random, unrealistic gameplay, since non-organ hits would just be a bullet sponge or people would whine about 1-shot organ hits. Too much wound ballistics would have to be taken into account before such a system can work, such as the pressure wave, shock effect, bullet fragments, every bone collision in the body, etc.. Much better solution would have been: 1. Slightly increase the plate areas. 2. Since we already have more detailed hit areas, they should have different damage distributions across multiple body parts. For example arm pit shot = 50% arm, 50% thorax. 3. Change high-end HEAVY armours to have tier 4 soft armour. That way people would have to choose between heavy armour for more protections vs lighter armour for speed.

So they made so that now there is armor where there isnt actually armor. Makes sense 😂 . Actually no it doesnt, because how the fuck are you gonna know the difference between vests. A small vest has the same protection area as a big one, like how the fuck does that make sense??? This update is shit. Why do the vests have different hitboxes than what they actually look like in game?

The mobility needs to be considered. The armor is plan B for me. I don’t wanna get shot anyway. Position and decision are 2 things that keep my SR high.

I love that it went make it more realistic>realise that without vital points it's shit>return it to forcefields but only for plates. Truly the greatest development team of all times.

The best armor is the heavy ones like Zabralo and specifically will always be Fort Zabralo because with Granit level 6 side plates and Cult Termite on the front and back it is the second most durability! (The most is the dev balaclava level 10 on all bodyparts :D only fall damage and grenades can kill you with it) The one and only major downside of its immense weight and impact on movement speed, turning speed, and ergo is entirely mitigated by simply popping copious amounts of Meldonin, Trimadol, and SJ-6 at the start of raid for fastest possible killing, 2A2-(b-TG) and 3-(b-TG) mid raid for fastest possible looting after all of the most unfair movement juggernaut onslaught killing, and a Obdolbos 2 Cocktail 🍸 with the Propitol and another SJ-6 and another Trimadol and Meldonin if you want. Funny shit starts to happen if you're like 100kg and sprinting to extract and stop suddenly with this Stimulant injector combo. It's like ice skating. For those of you who can't afford it every raid: try PvE as loot and roubles and gear and weapons are plentiful and so are the scavs and raiders for mass murder and killing! MUWAHAHAA The Combat Stimulant injector addicts understand this sentiment all too well.

It's wild that this armor change has made it so small rigs like the tv-110 actually have more armor coverage than full armor like the korund. Can't help but feel like it was rushed and just a knee jerk reaction. hope more issues dont pop up because of it.

Hopefully in the future we can see some trim to the hit boxes. I was enjoying being punished for my position than blaming my poor aim or armor, but casual is all good.

I don't know... At this point the armor system kinda just starts to confuse me even more than it did before. I guess I kinda just have to come to the conclusion that hearing "Armor is more worth now" or less worth and kinda just stick with it. Honestly, not sure what to think about it that we return to a money-dumping meta now where the better ammo rules all. It always has been like this but with the last armor system, which was far away from perfect tho, it at least didn't feel too relevant.

Thanks for the explanation. Cant believe we got people cheering for the backwards progression. We waited for years to get the realistic plates. Now where are back to a similar meta that's been done before. Penetration is king again. We took two steps forward and one step back. We're going to have to wait until the next wipe when people start reaping what they have sowed in order to get some change. Ideally they would revert this dumbed down armor system change and implement a vitals hitbox. This change feels like a PR decision and not a game design decision. Precipitated by certain streamers tendency towards being angry and trashing the system after a death for engagement and views.

ik they're all really close towards the top but im so certain that s tier should still favor the protection for extra hitboxes. at the class 5-6 level armors, i just want to protect my neck and such from scav/bad rounds rather than have a thorax that might tank 1 extra bullet once every 10 raids

I honestly feel like the re-vamped armour system is a step backwards, mostly because you can now (again) hit somewhere on the player model that is graphically not covered, but the phantom/magical armour plates wrap around and extend past the edges of the armour itself. I also think they'll catch the anomaly with the soft armours that don't have "Thorax" and "Upper Back"; again having armour that *doesn't* have "Thorax" being better at protecting your Thorax than one that does is weird and unintuitive. I suspect either they'll give *ALL* soft armours Thorax, Upper Back and Lower Back, or they'll change the hitbox of the "Thorax" zone on existing soft armours to match the profile of the Plate template (even if the armour doesn't have a plate). I do understand why they changed it - with the last system you could get shot in the shoulder and die immediately because your shoulder and your heart were the same hit point pool; I think a much better fix would have been to add more player model hit locations, and then have the armour plates protect the more vulnerable parts of your anatomy, like it does IRL. That's a massive rework of the entire hit-reg system though so I understand why they didn't do that. This "new" (it's really just the system from 0.13 with plates added) is just a lot more gamified and less realistic, and it means only the meta ammo is worth running again. I don't like it.

For me, they’ve complicated armor mechanics too much. imagine removing a system where you just need to see the armor to understand where it can protect you and instead add a system where you have to do more research to understand which armor is the best. The best thing they could do was to change the functioning of the chest health with an internal and an external chest area, so as to always have the factor of the fast mortality in the center but enduring much more on the external one. I am more and more convinced that this recent update is a downgrade for the game but I always hope that BSG will continue its path and I hope that in the future they will add modded private servers for the various communities.

When you watch the 0.14 video, sell all your class 6 armors, then see there is a new video from 3 weeks ago where everything flips :) fml

If I'm honest I skimmed over to the priorities at the end but I really value neck protection from scav ammo, seems like that was somewhat missed. The Osprey (P) has been my pick for that reason earlier this wipe. I swap in GaC plates.

Wait they removed the gabs in armor hitbox? That was actually realistic why did they remove it. That would people with pistol ammo had chance against armored enemies.

garbage update, went back to high pen ammo meta and removed any reason to use other types of ammo, such bandaid solution... The problem is the thorax hitbox how simple when taken damage, shoulder shot should not receive full damage of the bullet, should be reduced with a modifier of 0.90 or something. Even better then, they should look at what realism mod has done in SPT

Bunch of the S tier and A tier ones would be swapped in PvE mode because neck armor. Gotta mitigate that one aimbot shot the PMCs seem to take every 5-10 shots.

An unpopular opinion is that armor in game doesn't matter as much, you'll still end up dying by bad caliber scavs somehow

BSG decided just to do hot fix its not good its same as used to be. They just need add small cube inside of pmc thorax (same as head/neck hp) size of plates. You still should be able to shoot it from the angles around the plate but shoots from front and back that miss the plate but hit the thorax not gonna kill you straight away act more or less like stomach. To get angle to penetrate the vital cube inside pmc thorax would be eay more dificult, then the whole plate system feels and act realistic how they intended, you less likely to die from random scav shoot and to kill someone with cheap ammo is not imposible but require way bigger angle of shooting or when person is moving fast and you able to get arm pit shoot that actualy goes trough inside cube hit box but not someone back

I think you're more likely to die to those random scavs when you push locations harder. Neck armour might matter more to those people, whereas based on your end and str at 52 you seem to play more methodically and are probably more cautious with scavs.

Respectively, I disagree with this tier list. Watched my buddy wearing the CPC Mod.1 take a neck shot and fold from a scav using US 5.45 last night while. Level 2 neck protection would have saved him. Same logic goes for lack of side protection. IMO, no neck or side protection, automatic boot to A-tier list. No both, B-tier max. We can argue the importance of level 2 or 3 on neck and side but carriers like the Slick are max B-tier IMO.

The CPC was my favorite budget armor for PVP. They used to be 67k (vendor price) but now they are 200k. Thanks a lot GB, haha. Also, how important are side plates? I end up repairing my side plates almost as much as my front plate so I feel like they are very important, but if they only protect the stomach then I guess they don't really matter that much.

Although I agree that the tierlist is well done, I still can't comprehend how so many people (the vocal bit at least) are satisfied with this system. Like, it's not even about hitboxes anymore. The current durability system was designed to make plates tank far more when they actually got hit. When extended to the full body coverage this gives absurd amounts of defense. I think that they should be nerfed significantly. Only today I had a guy with Osprey Assault with stock alu plates tank 460 damage from a Veresk with BT ammo. This literally renders this weapon and many others useless for no reason, the guy should drop dead even from blunt damage. And let's not forget you need 20 kills with that thing for Test Drive 2, and Zubilo rounds (the ones capable of piercing class 4) are literally nowhere to be found. I think that at the very least the plate durability should be reduced by like 30% at least, maybe making class 3 soft armor exclusive to the likes of Defender and Gen4 assault armors could be nice to encourage using them. But some changes are needed, the armors are too OP right now, this is hella overkill and not needed to keep them viable.

ever since the change I swear by armor with neck protectors, my group typically uses osprey protections, it has some extraneous arm protection and weight, but I would prefer the neck protector to mitigate some of the threat of SMGs and buckshot, as well as various lucky shots. it falls off as opponent ammo improves, but remains useful in my opinion, stack that with class 5 or 6 and you have high protection overall with minimal downsides

People complaining about realism probably don’t play much. At the end of the day “it’s a game” it’s not real. These are great quality of life changes to the “game”. If you have been killed by the fun armpit you would understand. This game is a mixture of realism and again a “game”. Great changes to improve the overall experience imo.

ANA M2 imo is the best budget and lightweight rig/armor combo. its only 2.25kg. Thor + thunderbolt has 2 slots less and is 2.32kg, and is of course more expensive to run too. I do think the ars arma CPC is as good as it gets at 2.75 kg for 23 slots and the slightly better protection as you went over, I could not find a single combination using the thor + 20 or higher slot rig that was as light. If weight matters it seems its best to stick to armored rig combos that come with slots, even using the lightest of the best armors (thor) it's still much heavier than the good armored rig combos like the ars arma cpc, and ana m2.
