Thanks for all the amazing tips and for showing us your process! I'm wondering how do you estimate how much to mix for a particular mold? Also, are there any steps that you need to wait several hours to do? Like sanding or sealing

I watched the part about combining Jesmonite and epoxy resin twice. I have a lot of terrazzo chips I made with UV resin and tons I made with broken glass. Could I mix those with the Jesmonite?

This is a great informative video… I have a question on the 2nd method…. Why did we have to break that pink to pour in the white? Could have poured in part pink and part white in the beginning?
@sherivegasartist
@sherivegasartist 2 года назад
Yes you can definitely do it that way as well. So people like the break look and so prefer to pour 2 colours at the same time.

What benefits does it have compared to plaster casting which is white, harmless, very cheap and sounds a lot easier to work with?
@HO-bndk
@HO-bndk Год назад
This stuff is literally Calcium Sulphate (i.e. plaster of paris) mixed with acrylic resin. It is easier to use in silicone moulds than straight plaster and is much stronger when set. It also offers more options for finishing.

@starrspoter
@starrspoter 2 года назад
@@raeronda30 adding black to pink? to male it red
@sandcastle2069
@sandcastle2069 Год назад
You start off with white base, so it’s natural that it comes out pink, because white and red mixed together makes pink. Do not add black. That makes no sense unless you want a dirty pink. Depending on your pigment, you’ll need a very high pigmented red in a large amount to overcome the white. I recently went through all my pigments and found to my surprise that the cheapest one I had, bought on Ali express, was so insanely pigmented it beat all the known brands. I would test out a small batch and different pigments like mica, alcohol ink (there are huge differences there when it comes to pigmentation) and see if you have any thing strong enough to conquer the white. Don’t be afraid to try out anything, most brands say you can only use their pigments and 99,9% of the time it’s a huge lie. I use my pigments for anything and everything that needs color.

@@sherivegasartist Unfortunately I think you are saying it wrong. I lived in Australia for 26 years near Wollongong (Albion Park) and there was a group of us that used this product. No one I know in Australia pronounces it as Jes-o-mite. The break down of the spelling tells you it is said as Jes-mo-nite. It is pronounced the same throughout English speaking countries. The pronunciation however is not to detract from the fantastic things you make or the quality of the work and items. Your tutorials are informative and creative.
