Ever stayed at a hotel with a crappy fitness center? Or worse, no fitness center at all? If so, you’ve been in the same situation I was in, needing to devise a hotel room workout. This video shows what I did to stay fit and active while I spent a week at a hotel and had to make use of my surroundings and get creative.
The absolute best type of workout for a situation like this, in my opinion, is calisthenics circuits. This style is the perfect workout for small spaces. It relies on compound bodyweight exercises that require little or no equipment, plus the workout is fast-paced and intense to really get your heart rate up and rev your BMR. If you’re concerned about working out while traveling, learn about this basic format of exercise and you’ll be good for any situation.
The example circuit I use in the video is 4 exercises and centered on these 4 fundamental movements:
- Pushing (pecs, deltoids, triceps, serratus)
- Pulling (rhomboids, traps, lats, biceps)
- Squatting (quadriceps, hamstrings, calves)
- Core tension (hip flexors, rectus abdominus, transverse abdominus, QL, etc.)
By doing 4 exercises in a circuit format and repeating the whole cycle multiples times, you’re getting in a resistance and cardiovascular workout simultaneously without a gym. It’s the best option given the circumstances.

You should've used the desk to do chin ups or assissted chin ups. The inverted row method.

Great stuff. You could also throw a folded towel over the top of the bathroom door and either do pullups, negative pullups, hold at the tops, or hangers. Pressing your knees against the door can also give you a few extra seconds endurance as well!

A small door anchor would let you get a lot more out of the bands and or super simple supsension trainer that can be as easy as paracord with pvc handles for light travel purposed.

Isaiah Jackson this is the one I currently have and I have no complaints about it: amzn.to/30lwVm2 When we travel by car I can easily fit it in with our luggage. It can be disassembled too if need be. Make sure you bring the anchors with you. The anchors are Z-shaped metal brackets that you stick between the wall and top of the door frame to rest the top crossbar inside of. Those brackets aren't always necessary depending on the door, but it's always good to have them in case you need them.

Damain Eisold Yeah, at that time I was doing full body circuits. I believe it was 5 or 6 days a week... but I honestly can't remember. I made that video almost a year ago. I change up my routine every month or so. Right now I'm doing a push/pull/legs split routine.

Literally - the gym 8:40 Once I tried doing Dive Bomber Push ups/ Suryanamaskar ATG Split Squat Chest to Wall handstand holds Archer Squats..... (What I really missed was the pulling aspects!) To save time on stretching I choose exercises which demand mobility!
