Its expensive because its one of those jobs where both them and you know that you're screwed. Kinda like tow truck company or impound lot receptionists.
Sometimes the aftermarket makes cheap OEM equivalents. The expensive part is the scan tool and key cutter. I can say from personal experience. There is a reason it costs so much for to get a fob programed at a Volkswagen dealership. The computer we had was slow really slow.
It's nowhere near that cost for this job. The key cutter is under 3k. The programmer he used is about 3k. However, that programming device isn't necessary. Much cheaper options are available. There's cheaper key cutting options as well.
Yeah, I'd say lest than 7k usd. I could programme a key like that in New Zealand with my 7k set up and would charge about $500usd for the job. It's more about the skill of being able to do it more thank the set up costs.
Saludos from puerto peñasco sonora my friend i was thinking of opening a key business down here but short on cash for all the tools but i enjoy you videos animooo compadre
I personally hate prius keys because they are the most expensive key. Last time, it cost me 80 bucks for a blank key. But it made good money , but i charged 220 for the key. The dealer quated them 400.
He problably got all different ones. I watched a TV program here in Sweden that translates to "heroes of the road" that followes a couple of tow-workers that helps people with all kinds of car trouble and I saw one of them use this kind of lishi-tool to open a car. He had a couple of diffrent ones in a bag. Maybe up to 10.
Once you are a certified licensed, Locksmith, you get access to a bunch of tools, websites, and apps. In those apps, you just type in year, make and model of the vehicle, and it tells you what you need to make a car key.
Blake each lishi comes with list of the models you can use it on , meaning hu101 ford list isC Max 2014-2017 Fiesta 2011-2017 Focus 2012-2017 Fusion 2012-2018 Pickup 2015-2018 Ecosport 2018-2019 Ranger 2019 Explorer 2016-2019 Land Rover Range Rover 2006-2010 Range Rover Sport 2006-2010 LR3 2005-2009 Volvo S40 2004-2009 C30 2007-2010 V50 2006-2012 V70 2008-2012 XC70 2004-2008 XC90 2004-2008 While hu100 is gm and the list is BUICK Allure from 2009 and later Lacrosse from 2009 and later Regal from 2011 and later Verano from 2011 and later Cadillac SRX from 2010 and later Various models 2007 and later Chevrolet Impala 2013 and later Volt 2011 and later Holden Astra from 2004 and later barina 2004 to 2005 barina from 2011 and later caprice from 2013 and later colorado from 2012 and later combo from 2004 and later cruze from 2012 and later Tigra from 2005 and later vectra from 2004 and later zafiera b from 2004 and later VAUXHALL/OPEL Astra 2004-2010 Combo 2004-2010 Corsa 2004-2010 Insignia Meriva 2004-2010 Mocca from 2013 and later Opel Mocca 2013 and later Tigra 2004-2010 Vectra 2005-2009 Saab 9-3 2008 plus 9-5 2008 plus Saturn Astra from 2008 and later So check the list that came with the lishi you bought .
It’s based on the type of key the car uses. I have 70 lishi picks. After some time you know which vehicles use which. We also have software we can use to look it up.
Cutter less than 10k - Key 15$ ordered from manufacturers - Programming $10-200 - Skills are impossible to tell but easily the most important The machines could be top of the line but if you don’t have the know how.. the tools useless, haha literally
Cutting machine is about 3k Programer is about 3k Lishi tool 50$ Inventory??? Van??? Insurances???? Years of experience?? Personally my van setup with all my machines and programmers and all inventory is probably about 130k van included.
Lol it’s not always so simple! & why not “copy” the key cut instead of decoding? I’m sure it doesn’t make much difference but I’m curious - Thanks for the vid!
@@aronomoamey9820 whats with the hate? Hes just makin a living and teaching ppl who know nothing about it some stuff to help ppl possibly make a living or if their stuck in a situation or to help ppl save money. what is a real automotive locksmith? What makes 1 a real one? I would personally think anyone who can pick locks to cars is a legit locksmith. Of course theirs different levels of locksmiths whether their masters or beginners or so on. But every Automotive locksmith learns from experience on the job and thats what this kid is doing. If you think hes amateur now well who isnt an amateur at one point? Everyone gets better and improves. A good comparison is like for hackers back then, u got the amateur hackers who hacked using the basic trojan level programs and then u got the master hackers that could hack u using windows Dos without using trojan hacks. Both types are still hackers cuz they both can hack u but their skill level may differ in how they achieve their goal with 1 being masterful and the other being newbie. Everyone begins at the beginner stage before moving upwards and this kid is no different as he will improve over time and learn new methods to become more advanced. Or how about comparing 2 electricians ? 1 person went through schooling for it and never watches youtube and the other guy is a dropout who became an electrician from constantly watching youtube vids and trial n error. 1 is clearly more advanced n prepared n skilled while the other isnt but in the end it doesnt mean the 2nd guy cant learn on the job to become better then the first guy. The newb guy can become more skilled because over time hes constantly open to learning new ideas he sees in youtube vids. The first guy will overlook anyone on youtube because they feel their schooling makes them superior in knowledge. So in this situation u will probs also claim the 2nd guy is not a real electrician cause hes not schooled to become one too. Lets not hate on these ppl sharing their methods to help ppl learn, lets applaud their efforts. I dont see much “Real” automotive locksmiths posting vids to teach ppl cuz most of them will want to keep their secrets to themselves. **P.S I Also suspect u are a real automotive locksmith who is upset your trade secrets are being shared so openly 😂😅**
can you do this for a b8.5 audi? it has a keyhole on the door but to start it you just put the fob in the hole and push it. in other words there’s no key start
and the tools autel diagnostic is £3158 and auto horse cutting key £2135 ,but I think if you have a prolific year you make the money from the investment.
In a pinch, yeah I'll bite the bullet. But those keys are garbage. I always buy my keys from the stealership. These keys start to fall apart months after. And they also start to fail being read by the car thus no start.
He is using AutelMaxi programmer, X-tool is way cheaper is you are starting and you don't have enough money, also there is another cheap cutting machines. Once the bussines is paying itself you can upgrade all your tools and transportation.
The cutter is 3k-5k and the programmer is 3k, key is 15, tools maybe 100, but experience is what's truly important, only bonded locksmiths or dealership mechanics can get access to the code in the programming device
That is just for what he had. Know you need references material and training plus time to practice. A single class will run you about $400. Plus you have to travel to the class. The class only gives what to do when everything goes right and maybe a few tips if things go wrong.
I drive truck for a living, I get paperwork that has to be passed to the customer (so stores or businesses) and you’d be very surprised what some of the places pay wholesale for items.
So you paid off your Lishi set… now to pay for that programmer with another 6 jobs and then the key cutter with another 10 jobs AND THEN you can start making money lol
@@CaptainLockPick im curious if someone wanted to get into business what u do in their country how do they get these program readers to install the key ? Also in this video are u saying your lock pick is a reader too that measures the dimensions of the key? Then u insert it into a key making machine n it reads the lock pick tools data ?
Ah yes because someone can wait for an eBay package to be delivered when their single source of transportation is not working that they probably need for daily life. Dumbass comment
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: (Acts 17:30) Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (James 4:4) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)
