Full Coverage Drugstore Powder Review | J. Cat Beauty Aquasurance 

I have normal dry to combo skin and apply it with a brush. I have had good luck with it- not as good as my mixture of bare minerals Bareskin and L’Oréal Freshwear combo, but for quick application it does really well. Thanks for testing it!😊💜 BTW I agree- it is medium coverage.

I have dry skin and I really like this product (wearing it now!) And I like applying it with a buffing brush as if it was a mineral powder.

I like this foundation. I have oily skin and I apply with a brush. I use a primer, but I have to make sure my skin is not over moisturized or else it looks texturized. I like it for an everyday natural look.

I just wanted to say I truly appreciate when you show close ups! Other more popular RU-vidrs don't do that and it drives me crazy!

This is my holy grail foundation - when wearing masks. I feel this is also good as a finishing powder for my undereye concealer (tarte shape tape). I use brushes for application. Looks very natural, people think i have no makeup on when i use this.

I always use the elf flat top kabuki for these type of powder foundations. It gives me coverage but allows me to buff it a bit. Your eyeshadow looks amazing!

I LOVE this foundation and you can layer it. I apply it wet and then put it on dry over it and it's high medium to low full coverage. Then I spray a setting spray (luminous or mattifying) over it and it is GORGEOUS!!!

I know you don't typically use primers, but this powder is formulated to be used with their hydrating primer! That might help with the texture issue

I LOVE that you aren’t scared to zoom in a bit with the camera! It’s impossible to see the results otherwise, but you are one of the few that actually does it.

I agree, I also like to wear a moisturizer under my foundation, and if the foundation I wear doesn't work well with the moisturizer, it's a HARD pass. It seemed like you really had to work with it, and makeup really should be effortless. If it's not, that also makes it a hard pass. Very helpful review Zabrena, as usual, thank you!

This stuff is amazing, but has a learning curve to how it works best. (Between that and the shade range may be a deal breaker for many) I'm 46, and have slightly textured normal to combo skin. I use the Aquasurance in Ivory, and it does oxidize. The key with this foundation is being moisturized first, and a dewy setting spray. It looks and feels fantastic. (I use all liquids first too) I also use it as a setting powder for more full coverage days.

This is my “go to” for every day but I have dry skin. I use a buffing brush and pat it on but it’s a must to use a Dewey setting spray for me to give it a pretty finish. I use the Catrice Illuminating Prime and Fine Dewey setting spray. Lasts all day for me😊

I have oily complexion and texture. This foundation is meamt to be used with their primer. Although I don't use theirs (I use others) and it's beautiful. Looks terrible without it.

I love it on my skin. I have 99% dry skin...but if my anxiety acts up or I have a hot flash & sweat, then my T zone gets a bit oily... But I do love it. I feel like it is geared towards dry skin, so I don't know why they talk about oil on there lol

I always find powder foundations work best as a finishing powder on top of a favorite foundation for extra coverage. Using powder foundations after a certain age makes u look like the Crypt Keeper!

I love this. It’s all in the application. Lay it down with the sponge it comes with and buff it in with a dense foundation brush. Set with glowey setting spray. It’s beautiful

I like this product using a moisturizing base. Dabbing, and swiping it on with the applicator they give you, and then go over it with a denser powder brush, and then using a dewy setting spray to melt the powder. Hope that helps.

Use hourglass mineral primer, a brush and Catrice dewy glow spray. To set. I have oily skin and it’s great combo! Sometimes I use Nikkia Joy setting powder lightly over primer to keep application from “sticking”

You should really try this with a velour puff! It gives you maximum coverage with a serious airbrush finish. I saw Tati do it that way and was shocked and that really is the best method for this powder!!

I love this foundation. I have combination skin, I have dry texture but I get oily throughout the day. I can tell it’ll last me a good while, and throughout the day it just melts into my skin and I look like I’m not wearing anything. It doesn’t fill pores though, so if you got hella pores like me, I’d use a pores filling primer. If you use a lot to get full coverage, it can feel a bit stiff on the face, but using setting spray helps a lot and makes it look skin like sooner. To apply it, on natural days I’ll use a stiffer brush. But on full coverage days I’ll use a powder puff.

Ok. Now that i know this powder wouldn't work on my oily skin, could you do a video on drugstore foundation powders? Loved the maybelline review also! 💕

I wear it but use the Catrice Prime and Fine Waterproof powder and Milani matte setting spray. I actually like it very much. I know some think it’s crazy to use another powder on top but I am how I am. Actually, I use the Catrice powder, I spray it, then I touch up the Catrice powder slightly on the nose, chin, and center of forehead. I’m really not oily anymore but still can develop a shine.

I have oily combo skin and like this foundation. I use it two ways. I will either use it over a bb cream line a normal powder, or like you did as my foundation for quick natural days. I live south Texas and lb me it lasts pretty well as long as I set it with a pray to help take of the powdery edge.

I had to laugh through this test because I have totally been there and now I’m (45) so patchy-dry in areas from the fridge-d weather we are having in Northern, WI. I have super oily skin as well, but I had decided to give this a try. First time, it bombed. After several different combo's, what works for me is first priming my skin with too faced's hangover and then picking up a little foundation with the real techniques foundation blender (the short stubby one with pink handle) and buffing it really well into my skin. I still set it with my normal powder and continue with my routine. At the end, I do a quick spritz with Catrice dewy setting spray to melt it all into my skin. So far so good with that. I do my makeup at 630 and I'm not getting oily until around 4pm and normally I'm oily by noonish. I just got this in the mail last week, so I'm still playing around with it, but so far it's one of the best powders I've used in terms of it lasting on my oily skin.

Glad you did this review, but I have always used a brush to apply any powder foundation. I believe you are supposed to buff it, like swirling motions, into the skin.

Love this powder. One of the only ones that does look good on me. I have dry skin and I use the catrice prime & fine primer and dewy spay when I use this foundation/powder.

Powder foundation is my favorite because I hate the feel of liquid foundation on my skin! I use the physicians formula one for years now (and it tends to last me 6 months with applying makeup averagely 1-3 a week) but I also like the bare minerals one not sure if it’s still available or where you can buy bare minerals. Thanks for the review!

i like to use it as a setting powder and it gives a bit of extra coverage if i'm using a sheer foundation underneath. I use a light weight setting spray over it and im good to go. You could try it that way and see if it makes a difference.

Can you re try it out with their primer and see if you get better results?

This is my fav. I do my skincare routine and put it on with no issue. When applying makeup with sponges try not to “wipe”, “pat” instead.

I apply a lighter moisturizer and then my pore filling primer with this. I apply with a dense powder brush. My favorite way to wear this is over a bb cream for a bit more coverage. I only wear this in winter when my skin is dry. In the summer, my tzone gets too oily

I know I the both the L’Oréal and bare minerals powder foundations need to be buffed in with a brush they are both great powder foundations. I found my face really likes the bare minerals and it will help with any of my acne spots. I started with it when I had oily skin and now have combo and still love it.

Honestly that’s what I noticed even from your first application that it was moving around and patches were coming off as you went in with another swipe. And I have to say I have the same oily skin so it’s nice to know I’m not alone in the battle of the oils lol thanks so much for the review!! You Always do such a Thorough Job!!! 💗💗😊

I’ve tried it as a finishing powder! I didn’t like it without foundation. I only use it with a brush. I have it on the back burner, haven’t used it in over 8/9 months! I really want to try it again though. Thanks for your wear test I find that you are very dedicated to the wear test even though it looked like poo

I have dryer skin and I enjoy this. I use it sometimes for touch ups later in the day. Works great for that. It doesn’t last ALL day but it does a fair job. I think it’s great for very casual, minimal makeup days.

Yikes I'm an oily gal ..I did want to try this but after seeing your shine I may pass lol that's how most if not all foundations look on me after a few hours. Sucks. I hate that I have to blot all day. Anywho thanks again for taking the time to help us girls out.

I have oily skin and I like this. It does get oily but so does every other foundation. The best thing about this for me is that I can blot away the oil then re-apply the powder. If you try to re-apply anything on top of liquid foundation that has been set with powder it just doesn't work but applying this powder on top of itself does work. I just carry a travel sized setting spray to take away any powdery finish. I don't think it's full coverage but I haven't tried applying it wet.

I can’t use any powder foundation. I’m 54 and all it does it make my face look cakey and it goes right into every wrinkle on my face. I lived in Ohio for most of my life and my face was an oil slick. 3 years ago I moved to Colorado and now my face is normal to combination. Ive had to change my face products but still can not wear a lot of powder. Great review as always! 💕

I have combination skin, I’ve used this powder with/without primer, it looked the same, but what I’ve found out to be working best with this is a well moisturized skin, but u have to wait until your face is not sticky, and the best tool is buffing brush, pressed not swiping motion, it looked good on me only for 3-4 hours, but after that my t-zone will look oily and it will settle into the pores on my nose.

I'm super oily and I love this product! I use it to set liquid or stick foundation mainly, but have used it by itself. However, I always use an oil control primer with everything! I have to or I'll be just as oily as your wear test footage. There is no combination of foundation or powder that control my oil for more than 2-3 hours between blots without a primer.

FYI, Zabrena, they offer 13 shades on their actual website rather than just the eight shades featured on Ulta's website. But I was happy to see your review because I was considering purchasing it since I, too have very oily skin. I'm not sure if I will get it or not. Most RU-vidrs who recommended this powder foundation recommended using primer below it and setting spray on top, so maybe using those things are keys to success in using this product

I have dry and I mean DRY skin..this works ok for me but it def needs some good moisturizer and hydrating primer beforehand.. (I also recommend letting all that junk thoroughly dry b4 applying the jcat or it will get cakey and textured) when used this way it looks decent on me!

I use this powder foundation with illuminating moisture primer because I have normal to slightly dry skin and I use the velvet type pad sponge to apply the powder because it’s better for me

i LOVE this stuff... though my skin isn't as oily as yours. It does layer up nicely on my skin. I use a hydrating primer and a good amount of setting spray, and it looks more natural than any liquid I've ever used.

Zabrena, when I was in my late teens to early thirties, my skin acted exactly like yours did when I put makeup on, no matter the foundation that I tried ( although, at that time, the only foundations that I could afford were drugstore makeup which would melt right off!! I also used a very well known deodorant soap and a complection soap that was very popular back then. So anyway, my point to all of this is that I used to be as oily as you, and that I hear ya.!!!✝️⚜️

Hi Zabrena! Thanks for this review. I got this powder foundation, was convinced after seeing saaaamage. Wasnt sure how to apply it. I bought a cheap velour puff and it seemed to work better that way, albeit it looks thick at first. But throughout the day, it had a nice glow. I blotted my nose, no touch ups. I agree with you, it gets weird with moisturiser. I tried this with a less dense powder brush, and it was... Okay. Didn't cover the pores. (I dont really use primers, still experimenting with various primers) I haven't given up on this yet!

You blended it well. Sounds like it sits on your skin rather than blending in with. Many women like the LANCOME dual powder/foundation. I hvn't tried any duals, combinations, dunno if it's the duality factor, foundation AND powder in one - it's kinda a dichotemy of terms. With oily skin, very oily skin, a primer would help a lot. I understand not using a primer, hving never used one. There is a big difference in how "my" skin holds foundation with a primer. My mature skin likes a primer but the right one is essential or you won't use it. Have you ever tried facial products with KAOLIN CLAY? They are a stayer and do wonders - absolutely great on oily skin. I highly suggest trying one. KAOLIN CLAY MASKS are 👏. Two products I hve with KAOLIN CLAY are: TARTE INC., NY 10018; QUIRKY - 12 HOUR AMAZONIAN CLAY 12 HOUR BLUSH. I LOVE IT AHAVA; PURIFYING MUD MASK. KAOLIN and SILT FROM THE DEAD SEA MUD. Hey Beautiful! I have this foundation and I always use a brush and then a sponge in the t-zone. It also took a couple tries to get it to look good. The wear on this foundation sucks in the warmer months. For me, it's a cool weather base only. I also have a pretty oily complexion and live in a humid climate (TN). Love ya girl.

Love your videos!!! I really have got a ton of great products based on your recommendations!! And some of your tips has changed my makeup game! So THANK YOU!.... I've NEVER been able to wear any kinda powder foundation. High end, drugstore, none of them work on me. I have oily skin and they make me look dry and also look cakey and shows all my texture. I have actually liked a couple powder foundations as a setting powder, or touching up powder. Just real light application with a brush over my liquid foundation, and I've found it adds a little coverage to a light coverage foundation, and does help my makeup last longer on my t zone. But I just gotta be REALLY light handed. I havent tried THIS powder foundation. And also if I go too heavy handed with say blush or contour I can take a powder foundation and go over it and it helps, a little more than a powder. I just cant wear any powder foundation as actual foundation. But since I've tried some, had them, they didnt work, I have found some good uses for them.

I'd have to pass on this one myself, as I have to have my sunscreen on (which serves as my moisturizer). If they didn't play well together, it would be a no-go. One powder foundation that DOES work well with my sheer-touch sunscreen is the Maybelline Mineral Power Powder Foundation. It's an older product, but works really well for quick makeup days. I just apply it with a flat-top kabuki brush & buff it in. I have combo-oily skin with large pores on my nose & chin, & it really helps disguise those. Plus, it's under $10 at Walmart! Woo hoo! 😊 💖 👍🏻

Wow, an American, I feel like a little kid! The chicks are all from the UK when I put on a make-up vid. Finally, I can talk about MAYBELLINE?? And WET 'N WILD?? Tell me I'm crazy, but hve you found some WET 'N WILD products to be good? They had a heavy duty concealer from FERGIE. This stuff was outrageous!, and one of their foundations I've had hanging around for awhile, a couple of years - I swear it's still good😃. Haven't seen the serum you mentioned from WET 'N WILD. Their gel eyeliner in a small, wide, jar, applied with brush, no good. They hve a clear compact, duo lip and cheek, love it. L'OREAL has an enamel eyeliner, dark, shiny, stays put! Comes in a little round jar, but you hve to use it. It can't lie around and it flakes. It seems or so I've noticed, some companies are becoming sloppy and their products "flake". Boy, do I remember the hype when that stopped but L'OREAL ENAMEL EYELINER, and GOT 2B GLUED HAIR SPRAY, yellow can, flakes with build-up. MAYBELLINE LOOSE POWDER, 👍. Good stuff. The pancake or flour look is not for me, yet I like to use powder. Years ago, I worked with a woman who worked at ELIZABETH ARDEN RED DOOR SALON. She said to me, "Don't you use powder to make your skin look like velvet?". Food for thought, comin' from a pro. The loose powder I apply with a big, brush, but not a tight brush. After it sits for a bit I use my hands to blend, just enough to take that "flour" look away. The coverage we want, not the build-up.👍 I've been blending my make-up with my hands for EVer, still think its the best. BARE MINERALS is AWESOME. Never saw any woman look bad in it, even if they applied it wrong. Pretty sure I subscribed to you already, yup, awesome fake eyelashes tutorial! If you know HOW to apply your make-up, drugstore brand make-up, MAYBELLINE, L'OREAL, NEUTROGENA are my go fors. Certain ingredients I look for, hyaluronic acid in any product is a plus, does wonders, and saves the skin. MAYBELLINE FULL 'N SOFT MASCARA, silver tube is my ultimate fav mascara!! Makes my lashes FULL 'N SOFT 👍. MAYBELLINE was bought by L'OREAL years ago and PAYOT bought L'OREAL. When I learned that, I went for those brands as I was a huge fan of and user of PAYOTS' MAKE-UP. Same set-up today, ALL owned by PAYOT and I took note. MAYBELLINE products got much better. Their foundation has its merits, but only one or two of their foundations are noncomedagenic. The best foundation "I" ever used was HALSTON. MAYBELLINE had an awesome primer, with the sponge top - I can't find it anymore. As I've become older I find my skin likes a primer, but I forget to use it! This primer was awesome around my lips as they hve some deep lines that extend into my upper lip. That stuff took care of that problem and I can't find it! 😁 Thank you for sharing your techniques and reviews on these drugstore products. Most girls, women who wear make-up shop at WALGREENS, RITE-AID, etc., so it's almost a no brainer that reviews on the products sold in those stores is what we want to hear. I am amazed at how fast certain make-up is GONE, in the drug stores! Thank you👍❣

As I get older my pores keep getting larger so I have stopped wearing liquid foundation. I have found that by just using a pressed powder such as the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless or the Wet n Wild Photofocus covers very well and keeps my pores from showing up so badly. I just use my Real Techniques sponge dry to apply. I first sweep it on then I go back over the areas with the larger pores using a press and twist method. Not sure if that may help any. That sponge doesn’t look as it would really apply the powder that well.

I have tried it and I am oily in the T zone. It looked the same on me as it did in your video! I did not like it at all! The Too Faced CoCo Foundation powder looked and performed much better for me, however it did not last but around the 8 hour mark!

I've been curious about this since Tati reviewed it and I'm still on the fence. I'd love to see someone test it using a damp sponge to see if it'd change the coverage/consistency.

This powder is terrible on me too. I have oily skin and it is so patchy on me. It goes on much darker on my skin than it seems in the pan and it oxidizes like crazy if you go over the same spot twice. The sponge looks like if I used it with a bronzer, and I have fair skin! Maybe it's the sponge, I will try it with a brush next.
