I love the maybelline powder. It really does a good job. It’s a shame about the jcat one. I love me a full coverage powder foundation, but oil control is a must. Looking forward to the setting spray series!

I know, I really wanted to love the JCAT foundation...I suppose you could still use it if you only wear it for maybe a few hours lol. Do you use the Maybelline powder as a setting powder or a foundation?

@@stephanieholiday I wear it as a setting powder, but in a pinch I wear it as a foundation. Either way works great. Oh! And I have started to wearing it as a “priming powder” before foundation and after the infallible primer ( thanks for the recommendation). It really is versatile!

So after watching this video I bough the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Pressed Powder (in the UK). Going to be honest, while it made my skin look a little more poreless, with skin texture being less noticeable, I personally found it didn't add any coverage at all no matter how much more I added or how much I buffed into the skin. It didn't appear to emulsify at all. It just mattified my skin and made pores look more blurred from a distance. However it clung to dry skin around my nose (I don't have dry skin in particular but on either side of my nostrils it's ever so slightly drier). If I used a setting spray to try and counteract this, it pretty much dissolved all the product. I think this review was brilliant and I'll still be using this powder as it does blur my skin texture a little and provide something for my minimal eyemakup to stick to on quick work makeup days. But I think saying it had a good medium coverage was a stretch. Still a fabulous review video. Just sharing my experience. Maybe it's cos I'm in the UK not the US? Wondering if the formula is different?

Oh no! I'm so sorry that you had that experience but thank you for sharing, I'm always curious to see how products work for others since I do make recommendations. What kind of brush did you use? I know I get different results when I use different brushes. I noticed that if I use a more dense brush with short bristles (Tarte Blur Brush) I get a lighter coverage but if I use a brush that isn't quite as dense with longer bristles (ecotools Complexion Buffer) I get more of a buildable coverage because the brush gives me room to add and disperse the foundation. I hope this made sense lol Hope this helps!

I LOVED this series and agreed with your conclusion! (I have tried several of these and had a similar opinion). As someone with very oily skin I thought I should let everyone know that I just tried the new Revlon ColorStay Grip Matte Primer and it is AMAZING! After working a full 8 hour shift in Florida I was still completely matte. I would love to see you try it in a video! :)

Have you tried Revlon's Blurring Powder? It's probably one of the best powders at the drugstore. It's a new reformulation of the old Photoready powder and it's really excellent! 🙂

I just found your channel and am so happy! Personally I use No 7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder as my powder foundation over a tinted sunscreen and it gives a light coverage which is pretty good. Going to try the Maybelline you recommended as I have it and haven’t opened it!

I just found your channel and love it: you’re the best. But.. I do think you didn’t give the L’Oréal True Match powder a fair shot. First off, I think you simply got *way* too dark a shade, and possibly even the wrong undertone, since you said you felt like an Oompa Loompa. I think if you’d have tried the N1 or W1 shades (or 2 at the most, in case you’re deeper than you look on camera), you’d have had a better match. (Things don’t “immediately oxidize” the *second* they hit the skin- they’re just the wrong color and undertone.) That’s what I think was happening there. Also, using the sad, ridiculous sponge and a super thick Kabuki brush wouldn’t work with a lot of powders. (Yes, they shouldn’t be including a ridiculously wrong tool, but there you go.) What works best is a small, damp, but well wrung-out sponge. Pick the right undertone and color, and it’s the bomb.
