Had a few Kohlers with failed coils. And usually very dirty cylinder cooling fins.

Yeah, if MM1 didn't clean that out, a blown head gasket would have been next for the owner for sure.

Do you still use the coil gap tool instead of a card. Thats the first time I’ve seen the tool and i know many times that would have prevented me saying some nasty words lol

Kohler commands are decent dont really like the horizontal commands though ive seen coil failures and blown head gaskets i have a husky gth2548 with a blown head gasket

Sounds good now. When you mentioned using epoxy for that I started wondering how well it worked with motor heat, then you said "done it a thousand times" lol

Man ALIVE You can have a miserable running motor many ways ,I learnt yrs ago to make sure the Flywheel key is full size ,Darned old Briggs motors will half cut the key and make the timing run erratic just making it do hard to start or backfires.

It's a strange thing that I had.2 opposed twin cylinder Briggs and Stratton engines that only used One ignition coil but the engine on My craftsman gt tractor has a v twin cylinder Kohler pro that uses the 2 ignition coil system

The Briggs opposed twin had a waste spark ignition system both plugs fired at the same time

I have the Kohler 7000 series In my tractor it's designed after the Kohler command commercial Pro Engine and its very rarely seen in any small engine repair shop that's how good they are..

Many coil failures, starter failures! 2 most common things and have them at least 1 per week.

@mikesmotoshop hmmm oh really for fun I did a 6 month research talking with small engine repair shops from East cost to West coast and the vast majority says different..so my friend I really don't think you're telling the truth one a week? No I don't think so

I went to a cub cadet dealer they said the 7000 series is good engine. Where I work we have a few Kohlers Right now NOT as many as Briggs its not even funny how many Briggs engines come in. When it comes to kohler 85 percent of cases ive seen have to do with lack of maintenence like running improper oil not cleaning the dust under the blower shroud and running crappy gas or the person using it the early commands were bad about blown head gaskets they fixed that also the courage single cylinder has a tendency to fail the Command is a good engine and the 7000 series is a very impressive engine lack of maintenance can kill a engine regardless of brand. Any engine needs maintenence from a Kohler Command to a Cummins n14 Diesel To those large GM EMD 567s maintence is critical

I am a mechanic for a big toro exmark dealer . The 7000 is not commercial in any way. To agree with the other poster with the problems they have and on top of that they blow head gaskets commely. They build them so cheap that they do not even have a decompression on the cam. I have been to tech school over theese engines. So if you think you know more than us people in the trade you don't.
