I worked derricks 6 years. On occasion, though, seldom did my crew ever pull a wet string because my 10 - 15 barrels of slug mud was at least 150% of its original weight. When you broke a stand tripping out, you could hear that suction as the mud inside the drill pipe fell.
imagine you have a huge ass crane in the rig and you need to carry heavy stuff on a metal stair no wonder those drillers only get 60years old or die on a rig
You can't be a cocky know it all, and expect to go to the top so quickly. And every single job you do on a rig, or any other job you work, the peon jobs should be just as important as any other job you work on. Humble yourself, listen and learn. And safety first.
@richardgraham9805 But it is. The Driller is the one who has the most control over that "drill bit." If you've too much weight on that bit, it's going to fail before expected. The mud also serves a significant multipurpose role.
Home-sweet-Home.. no place like here born in raised Oilfield trash, Midland/Odessa.. just another breed of human beings we are..stay well and vigilant guys.😁✌️🇨🇱😎👍🇺🇸👀
I still remember my first time ever fishing for a broke hammer bit..we tripped in and out about 12000ft as many times a shift for 5 days trying different tools..
I rough-necked in the early 70's in Texas, for about 3 years.... hardest job I never did again. ALTHOUGH, it took me to 3 countries and made me a shitload of money 🤑
You mean shipload no one I have ever asked knows exactly how much is a shitload but if you willing to educate me about it please by all means do so but if you just going to say it’s a figure of speech then please don’t waste your time and reply Salutations from right here in the heart of it all THE PERMIAN BASIN
@@millan8837 ..... I mean "shitload". Been using that term for almost 60 years or so, I guess. It IS an accepted "figure of speech", as you say....must be...a number of thesaurus sites list it. And a shitload is "an indeterminate but large amount....as in buttload, multiple".... etcetera etcetera etcetera.....maybe it's territorial...ennywaze, did my share of roughnecking in central and south Texas, Oklahoma, Mexico, Guatemala and Brazil.
