Addiction is a serious disease whether it’s drugs, alcohol, sex, or gambling. It’s easy for people to say/think if someone has an addiction they should get treatment and they’ll be “cured” yet they’ve never experienced it for themselves. Most people are in denial about their addiction and don’t think they need treatment. Only they can decide to want help and until they realize this is a serious disease and accept that they have an addiction, no one can push them into getting help. They need to want the help.

I really hope she is gearing up to leave. I know it will be hard but I do truly believe she is done. Hopefully she can live with family for a bit to get back on her own two feet. They met in college, she has her degree and wants to go back to working. Likely she’ll kick him out, go back to work and take care of her kids. She needs to get a legal separation even if she doesn’t divorce him yet so she doesn’t get dragged down in his gambling.
