@@strada5052 seriously bro its horrible I changed all my lights headlights and fog lights too. It's was a mission to get to them specially the passenger side. I think they did that so we can take the car to the dealership instead and have it done.
Just finished doing mine ,watching videos to see if everyone had a hard time , drivers side sucked but passenger side was horrible, jeep gives u about 2 inches of slack on the passenger side wires ..
Bullshit. Wanna save yourself some frustration. Take your front bumper off an remove the headlights by take off the 1 bolt on top and the plastic things holding the bottom of the headlight assembly b
Yeah you definitely can take the front end off. It might be easier for some. I decided not to, because I didn't have a plastic rivet tool for the fender liner.
I loved this video, great job! Complete information with how to and brands used in less than 10 minutes. Great editing and use of time lapse. I feel you're honestly trying to help people rather than just creating content. Thank you.
@ThisGuyVlad, thanks so much for posting this! This is exactly what I want to do with my WK2, upgrades to LEDs. You made this look so easy, with great camera angles and step-by-step. Will be sure to add these items to my Xmas list and get to work on this soon! Thanks again and keep up the awesome work! I really like that Hunter Green for your WK2!
The passenger side low beam requires an act of God to replace. I just replaced EVERY SINGLE bulb in the front with LEDs, and it took a couple hours, a few breaks, and wishing death upon whoever designed the Grand Cherokee and said "this is good enough"
May sound like a dumb question but is there a way to check the reverse lights if you're by yourself? I tried putting the car in reverse and holding it with my parking brake so I could walk back and look, but it automatically put me in neutral as soon as I opened the door.
If you have D3Ss, which are HIDs. Putting in LEDs will be a down grade for you and I wouldn't do that. I'd recommend these amzn.to/3EpJjb6 to replace your current D3S. They will be the same color as my LEDs.
@thisguyvlad17 says they don't fit my car lol. Ok Il look into it. But I cant for the life of me figure out how to put the oem one back in now that it's out
Vlad, great video. Thx!... I'm trying to order most of these LED bulbs, Amazon is telling me that the Inner Reverse #921 bulbs and the Front Turn #7440 / 7443 do not fit my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo..? Is this true? If so, which replacements would you recommend? Can anyone answer?
So the actual LEDs that give out the light need to face left to right. Which is 3 and 9 on a clock. So you have to turn the actual LED base so that they face in the correct direction.
How did you adjust the LED headlights to the 3 to 9 position? I installed Sealights in a 2017 GC because they worked great in my 2010 GC. The Sealights are in the 2 to 8 position and do not work well. Did you adjust the Fahrens before they were installed or after?
The Fahrens have an adjustable base, so it took a few tries to get them right. Basically, it's take them out, adjust, check, take them out again, adjust & check again. It took me like 4-5 tries to get it right.
I bit the bullet and removed the front bumper cover and the headlight assemblies. The Fahrens were easy to clock with the assemblies removed. I put the Sealights in the high beam and they work great. For some reason, the high beams are in the 3 to 9 orientation. My low beam is great now. Keep up the good work!
Just installed the same fogs in my sons 2015 limited and cannot get them to work. They power on, flash twice and then shut off. Won’t turn back on. Returned them and tried a new set, same lights, same issue. Any thoughts? The Sealights work great in the hi and low beam position work perfect but fogs are driving me nuts.
@@thisguyvlad17 Vlad it was actually easier than that. I did a little research and found that using the Appcar software and going in through the OBD2 port all I had to do was to set “Front fog lights LED” to SET or enabled. The 15’s use a different command for the fogs. Changing this setting tells the module to change the way the bulb is controlled. The software was $49 but WELL worth it. I customized a few other settings for him and he’s thrilled with it now. If you own a 2015 GC and are having this issue it is a much better option IMO than buying the resistors, installing and mounting them. HTH’s 👍🏻
Damn Jeep made it as hard as humanly possible to change these damn lights 😑🙄😑🙄 - took me a whole weekend to do the headlights, fog lights reverse and brake lights. My wife's Honda CRV took 90min {WTF} Jeep ? 😤
Vlad you are the GOAT for doing these vids. I'm a new '21 GC Laredo X owner and upgrading my stock lighting (interior & exterior) is in the near future - 100% thanx to your vid. Two questions I have 1) I'm in cold winter climate, MN. How well do your recommended LED's perform in sub-zero temps? and 2) in your links below, it appears that white fog lights and low beams are not found on Amazon anymore. Can you recommend alternatives? (also....I don't miss my '21 Ram 1500 Laramie cuz I can park in my garage again!!). Love my GC!
Wanted to thank Vlad again for making this awesome video and add some tips that I think make this easier! First, wear gloves for sure because there are some sharp edges on the underlip of the car frame. Plus it will just save your hands in general. Two, use the stock o-ring and FLIP IT OVER, fitting the small lip of the o-ring into the groove. This creates the same gap size that is present on the stock lights and will make it much easier to seat the 3 prong light housing. Next, use a flashlight to see exactly where the aggressive prongs are (two prongs have an angled edge, one prong has uniform sides). It's literally like a puzzle piece and must go in this way. Once you determine its orientation, adjust the ring on the light fixture so the prongs match and the wire ends up pointing straight down when you install the light (screwing it in clockwise about 45 degrees). The LED must end up with the lights pointing towards 9 and 3 o'clock - this creates a nice, strong beam. If it's off too far, the light will scatter.
@@thisguyvlad17 no bro they not the same I think mines is a year older because your head lights shape are different. Thank you for the super fast reply Gn brother your car looks super clean by the way
The front fascia and the headlights and fog lights looks exactly like yours...so I'm taking it that I have Halogens...and the H11's should work? @@thisguyvlad17
Great video. Installation was pretty easy. I changed my headlight, turn and fog. But now why is my driver side headlight not work sometimes? Is it because of the heat?
That's strange. It could be because of the heat, but mine have been inside the housing for a 1 1/2 years without issues & I live in the desert. Maybe the ones you received have a bad LED driver. They come from China, so might be a bad batch.
So i bought two pairs of Lastfit H11 LED lights for my Lowbeam and fog lights for my 2019 jeep grand cherokee... are they the right size and should fit??
I replaced the low beams with the LED's recommended in this video and they work great on my 15 GC Limited. I also replaced the front turn signals with the switchback bulbs linked in this video as well. They were really cool when first installed but they do not work anymore after 2 weeks of being in the vehicle. The bulbs illuminate but the vehicle doesn't communicate with them properly when using turn signals. Vehicle gives fast flash and turn signal out message. Therefore my front turn signals do not work with the amazon linked switchback bulbs in this video. Any suggestions to rectify this situation or should I just avoid the switchbacks and try the solid ambers? Any help would be appreciated.
Your recommended headlights are gone from Amazon. 😢 I found the same ones but they are upgraded now. But I have a question about the switchbacks. I don’t like the Amber/white switchbacks. Are there any that are Amber/Amber switchbacks? I have turn signals in there right now and they don’t light up as a parking light when not activated as a turn signal. I need some help. What are your recs?
question... Did you have to to connect anything to the battery for the fogs or low beams? I see online some have a chip box to add as well? I didn't see you cover that. Great Vid. Thank you for your hard work.
youtube.com/@thisguyvlad17 Thank you for your video, I have the same exact trim Jeep Grand Cherokee, I have a problem that parking light on passenger side is not working while in Drive or Parking mode, but turn signals work fine on both side as well as emergency blinkers. Is it because of bulb of socket that is responsible for parking lights, thank you in advance
The rear brake/turn signals you provided are causing a hyper flash in my 2014 Jeep grand Cherokee limited, is there a simple fix besides buying new bulbs? The hyper flash drives me nuts
Great videro really, but I have a question for you…the H11 Fahren fit inside the room ok, but fit also the electrical box???? And is possible the close the cap anyway?
First off I want to thank you for your videos very informative, but I do have to question the signal lights fronts and rear. Lasfit told me today that they've discontinued those LEDs for Grand Cherokee regarding front and rear signals, that they've had too many problems and they're going back to the drawing board. So I respectfully ask myself being a novice What other brand or if you could give me a link on Amazon of an LED front and back turn signal. I'd really appreciate it That's the only thing I'm missing now. I did all the other ones like you did interior and exterior. Thanks again keep up the good work
I'm currently using lasfit switchback 7443 for the front turn signals, no issues unless they are on for too long and overheat. After they cool down, they function correctly without issue. Rears are Brake/Turn combination bulbs and the only LEDs that I tested that worked 100% are these amzn.to/3Yj3ikV.
On mine Low is H11 and High is H9. Pretty much the same, some GCs have HB3 High. You can reach the Highs very easy, just pull it out and check the bulb.
@@thisguyvlad17 liar? Absolutely not. Over simplify? Yes. Let's go this route: it MIGHT have taken YOU 10 minutes (although I doubt it). Now let's assume someone who's never done it before, but who thinks it's a good look, is doing the work. Don't take it as an insult or that I'm calling you a liar. The rear taillights are easy. Those alone are going to take 5 minutes. Getting the lift gate panels off are a b*tch (especially without busting the tabs on the top piece). And the headlight bulbs...OMG. And we haven't talked about the fog lights yet (BTW, yours has screw plugs for the wheel well, which is nice. Mine has the plastic pop off pain in the a$$ things.) The VIDEO is almost 10 minutes long, man. Granted, the first two minutes are blah blah blah. But a lot of the video is sped up. And you've obviously done this a couple of times before (as in, many, many, many times). C'mon, man. I've tinkered with cars for 40 years. Unless you're a mechanic, this isn't nearly as easy and quick as you're selling it. Just keepin' it real. This isn't an attack on you. I just want the average Joe who's looking to do this to know, hey, don't try to do this just before dinner because it ain't gonna take 10 minutes. And it looks GREAT. It's well worth the effort.
@Mark Burford I wasn't at all offended. Thank you for taking the time to respond. Yeah, I've done this a lot because I've went through and tested A LOT of LEDs to make sure they work first time around. The nice thing about doing it 10X is that you can quickly learn how to cut corners and make it easier for the end user. But, seriously when a guy says he's gonna go work on his car for a couple hours, you know its more like 4-6 hours haha. Wish you all the best!
@@thisguyvlad17 ha ha ha @ 4-6 hours! Sad but true. Thanks for the video, good stuff. Really good tips. Wish I'd seen this video before I did mine. Keep up the good work.
Hey @ThisGuyVlad ! Thank you so much for the informative video! If I may, I have one question/confusion - In the video you mention that we need 921 LED for the reverse and a 194 LED for the tailgate However, when I check out the links in the description, you do link the 921 bulb for the inner tailgate, but for the outer reverse lights you linked a 7440/7443 bulbs. So what exactly should I look for, 921 or 7440/7443 for the outer reverse lights? Thanks again!
My apologies for the confusion it may have caused. The 194 LED is for the inside of the tailgate.. For the reverse LEDs you'll need the 921 for the inner reverse & 7440/7443 for the outer reversed.
Hey- can you give more walk around or how it looks- when you were done you just said that's it there you go look at it..... end of video. Can you add a little bit more- kind of a close up and or just maybe show more video...
Great video. Which Fahren H11 did you install. There are several to choose from, 14000lm to 20000lm? Also, did they flicker or gibe an error code. If so, did you buy a canbus decoder? I have the 2018 jeep grand cherokee. Many thanks
Thanks Nick! I went with the 14000lm, no issues when I had them installed on the that GC. I recently switched out to some different ones on our newer GC. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RZ9f6Huswh0.html
@@UCDZWA2EjjBfwqsu3oE70wNAGreat info video. I am doing the swap on mine as soon as spring arrives. Do you have a lift kit on the Cherokee? If so, which one?
Awesome! Best of luck with your hands. Haha. I do lift kit, it's from OME with Medium Duty springs all around. I will be upgrading to HD springs in the rear for the extra weight I carry when offroading.
Amigo me podras mandar la lista exacta de los modelos que compraste para tu jeep, los que anexas son similares, pero yo quiero los exactos , te quedaron muy bien gracias exito
We switched the low beams and they aren't adjusted properly. We called two different places to have them do it (because the lights were so hard to get to and we wanted to make sure it's done right), both places said they can't be switched like this because the lights get too hot and for them to do it (so they don't get hot) it's $1500. Have you had any issues with the led's burning anything? I'm not sure if they are just trying to upsell or not.
So, the LED driver (little box attached to the LED) & heat sink do get very hot when they are on & running. But, you would only need them on for like 5-10 seconds to see the beam pattern, then you could adjust accordingly. What it sounds like is that they just don't want to do the job, that's why they gave an outrageous price.
So u used lastfit on the video for the front turn signal and listed another brand on the description, so which one is better? Don’t u get hyper flash on the lastfit ones?
Thanks for the video, I would not have done this if it were not for seeing you do it. You were gone to be blamed if it went wrong, so I must give you the acknowledgement and thank for success. 2 issues I encountered was the metal retainer that the LED locks into on the Jeep came apart . I used epoxy to glue the retainer ring back in temporally, but I ordered a new light housing of course. Second issue, i had to take the gloves off a lot to feel around the install and mon oh man did my hands get scrapped up. It was worth it for the finished product. Thanks again !
Thank you so much for your awesome videos! I have 2017 JGC limited, I changed the low beams to H11 LED, and it looks great! I have a question about the low beam housing rubber cover, if we covered it , where can the heat go? Shall we drill a holes or something? Thanks!
Thank you for your support! The heat really doesn't go anywhere, it just stays in the housing. You can drill holes, if you'd like to do so. I never did.
@@thisguyvlad17 man tell me about that got my arms all scratched up from trying to get in there and still had no luck lol and in this vegas heat i was out there melting
have you experienced any issues with heat? Especially with those headlights? LED headlights will have significantly lower light output as they heat up.
Just changed my low beams, fog lights, and turn signals all using the products/links you provided. So far so good (2018 GC Laredo). I must say the low light on the driver side was particularly brutal. DONT FORGET TO SWAP OUT THE GASKETS. It took me a sec to remember that and I tore up my hands trying to get it in with the oversized gasket. Clocking isn't too bad, just remember what angle the OEM sits at before you unscrew it, and then align the 3 tab pattern on the new light to match the OEM. Wear safety glasses when doing the fog light or you will get an eye full of dirt. Thanks for the video!
WOW FOR AS OFTEN AS THE HALOGEN BULBS BLOW OUT I WILL DO THIS NEXT TIME... THANX FOR THE INFO.IF YOU CAN COMMENT BACK PLEASE LIST ALL THE BULBS IN ORDER FRONT TO BACK. ONLY CAUSE I'M OLD AND HAVE A HARD TIME WITH MEMORY... AGAIN OUTSTANDING VIDEO. MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONES OUT THERE. STAY COOL PEACE....
My JGC has the premium lighting group with the bi-xenon HID headlights. The headlights are slightly yellow and I prefer white. I’ve read it’s difficult to convert HID to LED as it’s not a direct bulb swap as it is with halogens. What do you recommend?
I added HID bulbs from Amazon. They are super white, 6000K color. Originals Oskrams are 3000K so a little more yellow. D3S bulbs cost about 40 - 60 a pair. Go local and pay $149 for 3000K. Not easy to change, takes about an hour.
Hey, thanks for the vid...definitely helped me out. One question though, I didn't see anything about the inner tailgate brake lights, only the reverse. Did you change out the brake lights too? I couldn't find a way to reach them.
Hey man, great video. No BS and I appreciate you letting us know what worked and didn't work. I have a 2021 Laredo E because that's all I could afford. Gonna upgrade the lights! Thanks.
Awesome build and I must change the brake lights to led's lol. I will go with the JDM because of the no hyper flash as well. I've read about having to install resistors but not comfortable with splicing into oem wiring at all and will go the JDM route for the reverse lights. What lift and suspension changes did you do as well? Really appreciate the video!
Thanks my guy! I tried to find all the LEDs that would work right out of the box & be painless. I'm actually running a full Old Man Emu kit from RRO. So far its been great on & offroad. I wish I was a little bit taller, but I'm just gonna compensate with bigger tires.
I just spent 2 hours on replacing the passenger side low beam with the Farhens. Man you didn’t mention even that is too big for the housing. It just wouldn’t fit! I think I was finally able to push it in somehow right before I was about to give up.
I’ve been using the Sirius LED amber turn signals in my 2020 Trailhawk with no issue. I’ve left them on hazards for over 5 min and no hyper flash or overheating. Not sure if it’s the claimed built in resistor but they work great!
All the LEDs I have recommended in description work with the Jeeps CANBUS system. Not all LEDs work correctly, I tested alot of different ones and these are the best I could find.
So it looks like the ones I put in have been discontinued. They have a newer version, not 100% sure if they will fit. The base is slightly bigger on these: amzn.to/3Q6xn2Z Here are some other ones if you're interested: amzn.to/3IkdjYX I'm currently running these in my new Jeep: amzn.to/3YMpGTx
Yeah that's correct, I like them so far. The base is adjustable as well and you don't have to remove them to adjust it. You just keep turning it and there's notches built in.
Great vid! I think I noticed you having changed out your shocks? I have 2015 Limited and it takes the smaller bumps bad...skips over them then kinda darts in the back end. Has anyone noticed this with theirs and how did you fix it if so. thanks.
Yes absolutely. It feels like at times it's riding on rails as it kinda kicks side to side. But this also seems worse after a tire rotation. I have 2 Cooper tires in the front and I hate them! The rears are nice A/T toyos. Had a blow out so I only replaced 2.
Ugh. One of my led head lamps went out already with less than an hour on it. Its totally out and will flicker now and then. I think I'm going back to halogens even though I loved the led's when they worked. Too much money in labor to keep replacing led bulbs. So far the fogs are working.
Damn, sorry to hear. Sounds like the load regulator fried. I completely understand it's a PITA. Find some really good halogens. I personally prefer Philips & OSRAM.
I haven't personally tested them, but my experience with the GC CANBUS system is that its very finicky on what bulbs it likes. So you can try them and see if they work for you.
I have 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland . I am confused does it have dual beam spectrum or single beam. And I want to upgrade it to led can I do that ???
Mine are single beams for the lows & highs. If you have the fancy headlights that have the daytime ring, then you have HIDs that are dual filament and I wouldn't recommend swapping to LEDs. You're better off just getting a better D3S HID bulb like from Diode Dynamics, OSRAM or Philips.
What’s different about those taillights from stock? Are they aftermarket or just have some tint on them? Love the lights and the green jeep btw. Bang on👌🏼
The Fahren lights seem to come with a separate little Canbus thing that connects to the headlight lead, but I don't see that on the lights you installed. Which model did you use on your H11's?
So you switched out to the Fahren, I see they have a cord that comes out of them to a box, how did you get the waterproof cap back on with a cord hanging out? I looked on amazon and they list that as not fitting a GC
Great Video! Really saved me a ton of money instead of buying a whole new headlight set. Only problem I have is the turn signals. I purchased the ones u mentioned and they look great. But after installing them I get a message saying “Turn Signals Off” and get the constant flickering. Other than that everything else looks great. Also do u know good high beam brands?
Thank you and you're welcome! Yeah, turn signals are hit or miss. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I have another video testing 3 different ones, I don't know if you've seen it. I personally, don't recommend running a LED in the HB. Reason is that the HB uses a reflector lens and LED light just scatters it, but feel free to change it if you'd like to with whatever brand you prefer.
It is actually a good idea to use THE SAME ENVIRONMENT when attempting to compare something. Hey look how much cooler this is (first shot is a vehicle buried in the mud, second is show room shiny in an environment that naturally enhances the beauty).
hmmm. i had my shop install the same headlamps for me but they said they were too long so the rubber cap would not fit back on. they are in but the cap is not on. i have the same jeep. hopefully no issues with water getting inside..
