I am yet to try this recipe but just Incase your yogurt doesn’t thicken after the incubation period....put a bowl of water in your microwave and let it stay on for 12-15 minutes....take out the water, put off the microwave then put in your yogurt and let it stay in there till the microwave totally cools off You yogurt would thicken from the warmth...

I only use powdered milk and I love greek yogurt and so does my dog. But since the Covid 19 restrictions and the limits on food items I thought it might be useful to make my own. I did it years ago but used a commercial starter. However with all the recipes available on RU-vid I decided to use some bought yogurt like you have as the starter. I did buy a special container to keep it warm in while it grows. Wish me luck!

If the ambient room temperature is about 30 degree C, you may be able to maintenance the temperature at the desired setting by heating a pan of water at a temperature to about 50 C. You can use a steel cover or a pan on top of opening pan containing the 50 C warm water. And use a smaller steel pan to keep the prepared milk powder . There would be very slow heat losses ( convection heat losses) due to slight temperature different between ambient and the desired temperature. Under this environment, if there is a slight temperature drop over few hours, you may just heat up the water for one minute to maintain the ideal temperature of the prepared culture. I use this method to make Natto, and it is perfect way if you do not have a yogurt Natto maker. You better NOT to use my method if the ambient temperature is too cold.

This is not a Greek yogurt, Greek yogurt has PDO, (protected designation of origin) This means that nobody on the planet, can claim that they make Greek yogurt! But Greeks!

Hi! I've got some questions: 1. Can I freeze the yogurt after making? I don't have a fridge and would like to know if keeping in a deep freezer does anything to it. 2. When do I add sugar if I want to make a sweetened yogurt? Thank you 😊

You can freeze yogurt - it is called fro yo. Add the sugar whenever you want. It will freeze hard so stir it every hour.

Starter has to be at room temperature, ingredients in starter is important, temperature of water is important and incubation of milk is also important. Most times people just want to watch the videos without paying attention to what am saying.

do you loose half the weight when the whey is separated, and why is the yogurt sour, everyone says yummy cream yogurt,when in fact its sour,does everyone just like sour yogurt ,no none can tell me how to make sweeter, adding fruit does not make it swrrter,

There are three reasons I can think of that your yogurt might have come out sour. 1) The yogurt was allowed to sit too long in the fermentation stage. 7-12 hours is plenty for this type of yogurt. 2) The bacteria probiotic blend in the source yogurt or starter you used was not to your liking. 3) The powdered milk you used was expired. As for sweetness, add sugar or sugar substitute to your yogurt after you finish draining the whey.
