i think it would have been more merciful if Romero had just finished him early instead of knocking him over and letting him recover a few times. Polizzi probably took a few fights worth of damage because of Romero toying with him and not going for the finish.

Yeah, it was Yoel's cruelty that kept him in the fight, he could have shown mercy and ended it in the 1st round...Polizzi probably took some career shortening damage, taking 3 rounds of Yoel Romero landing at will....it was actually really awful and shitty to do haha.

Romero is such a likable fighter; 45 years old, seemingly invincible and terrific sportsmanship. Doesn’t seem to give off vibes like he wants to be there just to hurt somebody. Much respect and the way he was towards Polizzi at the end of 2nd round totally admire that. MMA needs more of this.
@RobTheProspect
@RobTheProspect Год назад
Lmao you haven't followed his career at all. Romero is notorious for nuking his opponents after they're unconscious (or close to it) then thanking Jesus for allowing him to inflict so much brain damage. In this fight it almost seemed like he was enjoying fucking up Polizzi so much that he let him get back up so he could continue hurting him. He's an incredibly impressive athlete, for sure, but he's unquestionably quite malicious. And truly anyone who thinks Jesus gives them the power to inflict pain on others like he does is a fucking lunatic.
@ivaard
@ivaard Год назад
Wtf are you talking about, Romero was stalking the poor guy and could KO him whenever he wanted. At 11:51 Yoel KO's him and is presumably waving to the crowd he's not done playing with his food. Yoel is quite sadistic but nonetheless an incredible fighter and a very strange one.
@samuelgibson780

It seemed to me that he thought the fight was over after the knockdown, when he was waving. And I think the ref could have stopped the fight there if he had wanted to. But I can see it both ways. In any case, that's the coolest beard on TV.

Well, that was a massacre. Romero was using the event like a warmup/practice session. It was a warning & statement indeed : Romero is a tough puzzle who’s not easy to solve.

Let’s be honest. This was not a TKO, the final bell rang way before Beltran even stepped in to “wave it off” It’s disrespectful to Polizzi who kept getting up and refused to give up. What a display of heart, and to make it to the final bell and still go down as a TKO is a slap in the face to this warrior. The commission should do what’s right and overturn this to a unanimous decision loss at least.
