Foils are what this 40 year old male beginner hairdresser is challenged with the most-thanks for your very detailed explanation, you’re a wonderful teacher!
I loved this video ❤ thank you so much for dedicated your time in help us, I have you as my mentor in this new career and new phase of my life and you don't even know that lol, you teach me so much, you dont have idea how its important for me. Thank you so much for being that angel that brings light to our lives ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Excellent video!! Love the 3 row tip.....and the mohawk last....the various Volume %. Have a full set of foils to do in the morning. Going to use your technique.
Amazing video❤️✨I’m currently training to be a hairdresser myself and I’m currently practicing foil highlighting which I’m struggling with but out of all the other videos yours is the best!💯 you’re a inspiration♥️ and what I want to ask is what’s the purpose of a high and low developer is it the shade of the blonde color light and dark?
Hi Jamal! Thank you for the sweet comment! I like to start off with a low developer in the back as I know those back foils will be sitting longer than the front. Low and slow. And I work my way up to a higher developer on top and everything lifts pretty even.
Hi summer, what are all the different weave sizes you can do? How thick do slice sections have to be? Do the woven and unwoven parts have to be same width? Thank you
Loved this .. I love the low and slow method trained with wella and they recommend this also .. I love 💕 💕 the three foil placement method going to try this out on my mannequin . Thanku for your teaching method very informative 👍🏼✂️
and wow it lifted so well after only using 5 volume whaaaat. usually use 20 in the back and 30 top and front. can u do a video on the wolf cut vs the shag
Hi Summer, thank you for this informative tutorial. One of my questions is where can I buy the Redken Shades EQ since I am not a licensed cosmetologist?
i was just wondering if u have any training heads you’d recommend to buy? i wanna get one to practice highlights but i’m worried it might not lift due to hair quality love the vid btw xx
I keep going back to this video haha and i see ur like 30 mins from me. my mom and i just moved to daytona ~*sigh so if u ever plan on coming over here i wanna meet u!! i just started cosmo school fee monsths ago lol
whats the difference between slicing and weaving im getting mixed answers from my teachers. what recommendations do u have on foiling faster/tips. i do 2 sections in the back vs 3. do u think 3 takes just as long? how do i prevent bleeding , besides placing foils in between? thank you so much ur my fav
A weave will look a little softer over a slice bc there will be natural hair slightly coming through the section once done. Does that make sense? Two sections is faster, but you're not getting quite as much coverage compared to 3. Try not to be to worried about time in school, you will get faster the longer you are in the industry.
@@StylesBySummer okay forsure thank u so much it's disheartening because my teachers r bullying me because theyre jealous of me so watching videos ur like my teachers now i dnt mean to vent haha
Help, my hair is dyed with a Sally's perm level 7 which has me as t a orange brown : ( I'm going to do a foilage technique on myself .. But need help to answer will the final tonor *( thinking a CT14, with a capful of 050 additive ) will it tone out the rest of my hair to get rid of orange ?? *( I have NOT Bleached yet, it's just lifted to light a brown and sun damage) ... help please . Should I color all over and then bleach ? Or just bleach my foils then tone all over with a 10 vol..
Yes, that is considered a "partial." I do have clients that I charge closer to a full foil price when doing a partial because they like a ton of foils if that makes sense!
Hi Summer - I’m not a stylist at all - just a customer who has had foils for years / highlighting every 2 mos or so . Had same stylist for 10+ years . Med length hair . I really love watching your tutorials. Should I be concerned that my stylist requires me to hand her the foils wrapped around a plastic board? I stay busy and can’t relax. She does a good job on the color , but I’m not sure she does continuing Ed or stays up with latest trends. I’m done with cut and color in about 2.5 hours. I love her - we have built a friendship. But…
If you are happy with the color then stay with her but you completely have the right to tell her you don't want to hang her foil. To me that's very unprofessional of her to do, and it's not the clients job. You are there to relax and get pretty!
@@StylesBySummer thank you so much - she could charge more I’ll admit - so I am not sure what to do now. She has been very good with my color , but lately the color ( blonde) has been fading after a few weeks and a little brassy. She says it might be the iron in my well water?
Hi .sorry I like the way you doing it ..but am comfuse with peroxide that you use ..back 10?and front for finish you use 20yes ? And I never knw I can use bleach powder with 10 volume,,,shame me …pls make me understand? Thanks
Hi Paulina! I start off with a lower developer in the back and finish with a higher level. The lower is level is because I know that the lightener is going to sit on the hair longer, so I like to go low and slow with it. Does that help?
Because toner is a very simple process. Toner+developer, let it sit until it gets to the color you want, if you want ashy blonde you’re going to want a purple blue color, it will wash out don’t panic. if you want a beige blonde the toner should be almost brown when done processing and you’ll come out with a deep beige/warm blonde. The toners will tell you what they’re for and what level blonde you need. Toner isn’t as meticulous as bleach, you can just put it on the head kinda like conditioner and let it process
You can typically balance out yellow with your toner/glaze. So you would want to add violet to your formula as purple is opposite of yellow on the color wheel, but you want to still mix it with a warm shade if you don't want it to be to ashy. If you still don't like the results of that, you may need to be lifting lighter.
@@StylesBySummer okay thanks so much ..to make sure if I understand is I take yellow shampoo mixed with warm shade and with which peroxide 10,20,or i should ask if someone want lighter or dark ? What do you mean by saying Ashy what is Ashy i get the feeling is the affect jus apper on the hiighlit only and not the full hair ,
