I’ve been binge watching your videos ever since I subscribed. Lol. Thank you so much for sharing your story! We have so much in common. I also was a teacher for 8 years and decided to stay home with my 3 kids last year. I’m just now getting into gardening on a bigger scale (I had a few container plants when we lived in apartments) and now I have 3 raised beds. Your videos have been invaluable to me because it gives me encouragement that I can have a thriving garden in this intense North Texas climate. Lol. God bless you and your family and I look forward to continuing to follow your journey 😊

Thank you for watching! We definitely have a lot in common. This heat is brutal, but lots of things can grow well here. I'm hoping to make time to post more videos soon.

Just subbed. Used to live in san antonio texas. Had that heavy black clay, so hard to drain, and then cracks like crazy. Bordered them with french drains. But as far as any squash, vine borers were my bane. Had about as much success as you. I'm around Turlock, California now in 10b with sandier soil that I'm building up with homemade compost and kellogs organic garden soil(which is mostly fine woodchips). Working out a little better.

I'm glad to hear things are going better! Yeah, the soil here isn't amazing...growing in raised beds has made things workout well...the only things I have directly in the ground are a few fruit trees. The squash vine borers paired with the squash bugs were just too much for me. Oh well, win some, lose some. Best of luck to you!

Where did you get your cattle panel trellis?

I purchased the panels and the posts from tractor supply.

How are your Cherokee Purple doing in the heat?
@OurGiftedGarden
@OurGiftedGarden 2 года назад
They are doing okay, still producing. Because my plants are so close together there is some natural shading happening that I think helps them out a bit.

Why do u seem to grow tomatoes in the south through the summer when others insist you have to grow determinates and or say u have to pull them out by mid summer?
@OurGiftedGarden
@OurGiftedGarden 2 года назад
I have heard that, too, but I also know gardeners who grow lots of types of tomatoes just fine down here. I like to try things out and see for myself whether it will or won't work. Also, I've seen more success from my tomatoes since I've started growing them from seed myself and therefore been in charge of the entire growing process. Some of my indeterminates don't look amazing right now because we had the heat come in earlier than usual and have had no rain, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority will push through and be back to looking great for fall. Thank you for watching!

@@OurGiftedGarden wonder if it's a scale issue and wonder if they are trying to do it with too little inputs? Idk

Congratulations on subscibers! Tomatoes are to finicky to ME! I was trying to grow to give away but with the heat and disease they got on my nerves. I pulled a lot up I do have a cherry plant though. I can't do much acidic stuff anyway.I had the same problem my green peppers also not the yellow ones.

Thank you! Tomatoes can definitely be hit or miss... that's why it can sometimes be better to grow lots of determinate ones so you don't have to try to keep the plants healthy all season. I'm still not sure what the deal is with the peppers, but it seems to be less prevalent now.
