Since the making and uploading of this video, BimmerCode has removed VGate from their 'recommended' list of dongles. I believe it stills works but, if you're yet to buy one, check out this link for the ones they currently favor: www.bimmercode.app/adapters/

yea the hotkeys is an absolute killer feature makes it so easy and safe to get to the things you use every day. like hold state of charge or navigate to recent destinations or the message list if you use the app to send addresses to the navigation system.

Roof - it is a case of direct translation from German to English: "Dach" [DE] = "roof" [EN] Here, Dach is used as "overarching"; E.g. Dachgesellschaft = "Roof company" or, in actual English, a "holding company" that is overarching other "sub-companies" - VW Group is the roof over VW, Audi, SEAT, Škoda,...

Hey Ray, so excited each time come across your vids! I subscribed and downloaded them, especially this one!!:) On the USB cruzer, noticed the size isn't typical USB thumb drive stick, assumed to allow it to fit console? And the minimum storage size (64gb or 128)?. Thanks a million bud!

Thanks for the compliment and watching! I really like the discrete nature of this size drive. Use it in the Tesla MX too for Dashcam/Sentrymode. I use 64s due to cost but that becomes less of a factor everyday.

Pardon me Ray, I have 2014 i3, hoping you can to clarify where to insert the USB cruzer, mine is under my arm rest where aux Jack located, front of storage bin. Please confirm if this is correct location. Thanks

Watch your video on the instrument cluster rex take over battery percentage how do you increase that I decrease it years ago and I'm having issues I'm trying to increase it back but you go very fast over that I'm not sure how to get back into it .

Thanks for doing a more thorough follow up video on the i3 coding. Can you tell me in your last section in the Roof Function.....what is the acoustical lock confirm volume high and how does that differ from acoustical lock confirmation low? Did you ever get your REx takeover to function at a higher level than 6%. As you may already know, Bimmercode no longer compatible with the Vgate, but now has a list of what is recommended. Thanks for your video and time. I am looking forward to the next video.

Honestly I'm just guessing, but suspect it is high vs low pitch. I do not own the car anymore so cannot experiment further. The beauty of the Bimmercode app is it's very easy to test functions like this. Thanks for watching!

@Chuck I used the VeePeak OBDCheck BLE and it worked just fine. Be sure to put your phone on Airplane mode. You don't want any phone calls or texts coming through while programming. I played it safe and just used a separate tablet, to avoid any call or notification interference.

@@hunterklugh5067 I still use the same set-up, the VeePeak BLE and Bimmercode. Once you set it, there is no need to set it again unless you want to tweak another setting or function. I am told that I may need to use it after a dealer service. They may set the codes back to default US BMW standards. This is because the ReX setting is different for US and Europe.

How do I get rid of the annoying gong that chimes when the car is in Reverse. Not the warning beeps for the PDC, the annoying Gong when the car is just selected the Reverse. It was not on, until I did a few codes with Bimmercode. Now it is on and can't seem to turn it off. Its super dangerous as I instantly look at the screen as I expect an error message, and not where I'm reversing. Its also annoying and totally useless.

I see you can change the brightness of the LED DRL's. Whats the default brightness? Not interested in turning down, only up. Not interested in changing the brightness of DRL's when headlights are on.

My understanding was that the options in the Body Domain Controller only speak to 'active/inactive' toggling. Beyond that I'm afraid I'm not savvy. Good luck.

@@DWraysGarage When I hook up the Bimmercode app, it states "Angel eyes" are already at 100% by default, but dimmed with the low beams on.

Hello, I have a BMW i3s from 2019 with all equipment, but maybe is there something wrong with the car?. The problem is that there are LEDs under the handles. You can clearly see the led under the doorhandle, but they do not light up when in reverse gear or the welcome light. Has anyone experienced the same problem or is there something wrong with the car ?

I have backed up the factory profile on usb drive. What are exact steps to restore back to factory profile from usb? I really thing your RU-vid's are great.

My apologies George but I never actually had to use this procedure while I owned the car. Inserting the drive into the USB port and navigating to it on the infotainment would be the first steps. Thereafter I'd be flying blind also I'm afraid.

Hi, I just did all the as instructed with bimmercode but my i3's iconnect (or drive) no longer is connected to BMW. It says "no network" Just happened after I made the new settings. any ideas - please help....thank you!

I've not heard of this happening before. I'd give it a while and then go back. Holiday weekends are common times for tech updates. You could revert back to the original file if truly you believe there's an issue with your coding. You had full signal during code update, correct? No intermittency of wifi signal?

You can register your new battery using Bimmerlink, if you replace the battery with an exact type, and match as the old battery. In Bimmercode, you can only enter information about the new battery, such as cold cranking amps, gel cell, dry cell, etc. If the new battery is different than the one you replaced.

To restore original settings, do I have to go to every option and click on restore or there is a "master restore " that will erase all coding?

If you saved an original settings file you can revert back to this. You would have needed to out this on a USB before coding any changes like the video describes. If you didn't, you'll have to go one-by-one through the options you coded and change then back.

@@DWraysGarage i think i missed step of backing up, so I'll just go one by on, I did only tank and rex, the rest is non essential. Is your bmw 2016? I was told that tank should not be coded on 2017 and up

@@DWraysGarage interesting fact i still did tank expansion it actually dropped range, but after restoring it went way higher from 64 to 84 miles in comfort mode. That's good but I have no explanation how this worked

Question I have a bmw i3 2015 I connected the BimmerCode . I want to use the Rex extended feature but on the BimmerCode app is shows as active already but I bought this car used and I don’t see the menu to activate the extended rage? Anyone got this issue? I got the app and the obo port to code that extended rage feature active in the EU but I can’t do it because it shows as active already when it’s not

It's been a while since I had mine in the garage but, if memory serves, even activating this feature requires the battery SOC to hit a threshold (75% maybe). Until the battery is depleted to whatever that SOC is, there is no manual override to REx available. Maybe others have more solid answers. Good luck!

For the life of me, I can't get the keyfob trunk button to open the frunk instead - do you know how to make that work?

Have you set the delay and then held the trunk button for that period of time to see if it releases? I haven't tested it yet but will this weekend. I'll report back if I have a breakthrough.

@@DWraysGarage I tried changing button 3 to whatever item is supposed to be the frunk (don't recall off top of my head) for short, medium, and long press. Every time, no matter how long I hold it down, it still pops the rear trunk at mid-delay like stock. I successfully programmed the "alarm" button to instead precondition, so I don't know why I can't get frunk-on-trunk-button to work!

Troy - thanks for watching and commenting. I do not know the exact location of the ASG item but it must be identified and changed within the 'Expert' mode. As a rule, this requires you to have some German language knowledge.

I have the paid app, and I did not find the Range Extender Activation Battery Level option. is not listed under "Increase Electronically Limited Fuel Capacity" also, I enabled Video in Motion and I had not been able to play a video on my screen. Is there a video format that must be used? Can I play videos from my Android Phone?

Sorry, but need to clarify. You have a REx, right? Also, you are in the 'Instrument Cluster' ECU? Have you 'Expert' coded for the HSOC? Is 'Activate REx' activated in the Head Unit menu? I cannot play video from my phone. USB I think needs MP4 format to work and you need to activate all three USB options in the Head Unit menu. Feel free to message me on Instagram #dwraysgarage.

You can play audio via BT from your phone but not video. You need to go to multimedia and choose USB to view videos. Then you can go back and forth among your files.
