What made scenes like this work so well, was how defensive Jesse always was regarding his image. Other guys would've laughed it off as an adult, but Jesse took it personally since he was bullied over it.
It was more like 0:39 He was like how do you find out what my real name is because you know my name is Uncle Jesse. For example in THE WWE when STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN made up the word "WHAT?". It got so many people angry that the WWE wrestler's hated that word. That's how Uncle Jesse feels when he hears that word "HERMES"
Honestly nobody is too bad looking Jesse Becky dj are really good looking Michelle and Stephanie are pretty And everyone else is average looking in my opinion.😀
How did he manage to keep a straight face during that? Laughter like that is so contagious. I mean really. When I was in my school play of ELF, I played Buddy’s father. When we rehearsed the scene of Buddy singing to me “I love you, I love you, I LOVE YOOOOOUUUU!”, I couldn’t keep a straight face the first few times, but I managed. Unfortunately on the night we performed in front of the audience, the laughter, cheering, and clapping to how hilarious it was made it difficult for me to keep a straight face. I had to turn away and cover my mouth with my hand to hold back my smile and laughter. This was causing the audience to laugh too.
I feel like Jessie probably also had to switch schools after the name change, because the kids would definitely remember that he used to be Hermes and never let him hear the end of it.
Especially in the 90's. Nowadays I feel like kids have simmered down a little bit with physical bullying, and now they stick more with online bullying. If the internet was as functional as it is today when Jesse was a kid, that name would've been spread all over the world.
Isaac the Worship Warrior I don’t think it’ll spread across the internet and everyone on the internet will hate him and troll him. Of course there’s gonna be trollers but they been around for eons
0:37 The audience’s reaction along with his face really sells it lol 😂 the first time I saw this I expected the standard chuckle audiences do but they lost it
Dude! Hermes is an awesome name. Hermes in Greek mythology was one of the most important Gods of all. He was the Messenger of the Gods, and the god of messengers, travelers, commerce, trade, roads, languages, border crossings, thieves, athletics, speed, cunning and trickery. He even guided the souls of the dead to the underworld. Jesse should be honored to be named after him.
@Raymona Martin That was his name in S1. John Stamos (himself of Greek heritage) then asked the producers to change it to Katsopolis so as to make it sound more Greek.
"Thank you for finding my shoes, Uncle Hermes" "You're welcome *stops, realizing what just happened. Turns around* who told ya my name was Hermes?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I miss Watching this show. I really loved watching this show. I watched this show from the beginning to the end. UNCLE JESSE is the closest in this show.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the name, in fact, I like it. But, when people are used to a certain thing. That's what they are accustomed to. that and the fact certain names just have an "image," the cliché names that mean girls, jocks and nerds have in movies etc. So, when people have names that don't fit their "image" it can be rather amusing. Hermès is not what one would expect from leather wearing, elvis loving, motorcycle riding and band member person who wears more grease in his hair that a mechanic owns in his shop. It's just more so an "image," it'd be like finding out Dwayne "The Rock," Johnsons real name is "Carl" or "Timmy"
If only Kimmy, Joey, and Danny were in this scene to find out this secret. Danny would’ve said “I got a brother in law named Hermes?” Joey would’ve laughed so hard in this scene. He laughed when he saw Jesse in his Elvis outfit, when he was wearing that fake pregnant belly for a day, and when he found out the name he was given as a kid for his ridiculous hairstyle.
I love ❤️ it when Michelle says the word thank you for finding my shoes uncle Hermes even though I thought it was pretty hilarious 🤣😂🤣 and yes Michelle did cracked me up on that one right there of the name by their uncle like that 😂😂🤣🤣😂
Fun fact: Jeff Franklin originally named Jesse's character "Uncle Adam". When he met with John Stamos for the audition, Stamos said he had one little request. To change the name from Adam to Jesse. The reason why is because Stamos told Franklin that Elvis had a twin brother named Jesse who died at childbirth. Stamos felt that the name "Jesse" was more suitable for the character and Franklin said he loved it. Stamos was right. "Jesse" does sound like a more suitable name. In addition, I think it would've been a nice touch if DJ said she found out from Grandma that the reason why Jesse picked this name as his new one was so he could have a connection to his favorite singer Elvis.
Oh, that would be hilarious, to see Ramona or DJ's kids react to that. Jesse could be in the scene, and someone calls him "Hermes". He looks at Becky with that death glare, only for her to shake her head no...to which Jesse immediately blurts out, "DONNA JO FULLER!!!"
Michelle: Thank you for finding my shoes uncle Hermes. Jesse: Your.. I say: Don't worry Jesse my name was changed as well but I didn't find that out until I was kid anyway my real name is quite strange well to me that is I know how you feel.
