I am not a shopper, I am a customer. But I have always been curious as to what it looks like on the shopper's side of the app. This video was incredibly informative and satisfied my curiosity. Now I can be an even better customer because I know now what it takes for me to receive my groceries. THANK YOU!
@@beccamartin8533 depends on the customers request. Sometimes you need to ring the doorbell and hand them over personally or sometimes they say ring doorbell and leave at door. Or just leave at door. I like seeing the customer and handing the stuff to them because then I don't have to worry that their stuff got stolen
I just started last week. It's very easy, it can be a little stressful if the customer adds items or the item that the customer wants is not available but it is very clear step by step instructions.
Another tip of when shopping for multiple orders, you should always take a pen or a marker to write down the name in the bags of each customer. That way you don’t get confused on who’s bag is who’s. Thank me later guys. And good luck to whoever decides to start become a shopper🤗
@@kristichapman7144 you carry them to their door and empty them and take back with you. Instacart required you to buy them from them for like 20 something or somewhere else so you won't want to rebuy bags for each customer
A little sneaky trick I learned: I always do trips with higher base pay just because tip can change. But on Sundays, it does the instant cash out. So on Sundays, I'll take any trip, especially those with high tip amounts. They honor that tip at the cash out and don't take it away if the customer would try to lower it. (Which they do sometimes, tip high to get someone to take it and then lower the tip).
I’ve never heard of that that sounds like a scam specifically with door Dash once you except the order your tip is included and there’s no way to edit or change it.....
@@BaysideFL a customer can change a tip through doordash with the help/chat function and sometimes while leaving reviews/ratings which can be done at any time after delivery so tips can adjust at any point. I've done it multiple times to increase a tip. Most times I give my whole final tip when ordering though, which also eliminates tip theft possibilities but some dashers on RU-vid have reported tip increases and my own receipts always reflect my increased pay is tips. I've NEVER used the post-delivery adjustment option to DECREASE tips. Usually I've done it because it started snowing or raining or if the driver came a long way or if they just treated my food very well and brought it on time and were nice (food safety is so important and especially in the pandemic so I reward proper service). But, there was one time I was even able to give extra tips to at least 5 different delivery people at once when it was weeks after delivery, because I hadn't tipped as much as I'd have liked to nor did I leave any ratings yet and I was actually able to have done so from the same past order screen that you leave ratings on instead of needing to fix it through a chat. I also am a dasher as of 2 weeks ago.
Thank you for this information! As of today, I’m newly qualified to be an Instacart shopper. I’ve decided to leave the extremely stressful corporate world for awhile or forever!
I'm curious...how did that work for you? Did you continue with Instacart? I recently took a leave from my extremely stressful field--which I love but was causing me too much mental pain😔
Going to do this to pay for my sons daycare tuition. Thank you for the flawless editing and explanations! I am very visual so this was needed. Thank you again girly hope your doing well 💕🥰
Tip from a person who uses instacart every week: If you communicate with me and let me know when you can't find something, I ALWAYS offer a cash tip when you come to deliver groceries. PLEASE communicate.
OMG!!! This is an excellent training video!!! I have been wanting to start Instacart but afraid I wouldn't learn how it works. Now, thanks to you, I can't wait to start! VERY informative and to the point! THANK YOU!
I signed up just yesterday and have been researching and watching videos on how to do this work efficiently and swiftly.. and your video was so helpful! Thank you for doing this and spreading the love!! Much appreciated
Hello im considering applying and am curious, How does this work during covid? Every store has usually at least a 15-30 minute wait so would i still have to go wait to go shop for the groceries i deliver? Or is there some sort of pick up system where i just pick up the groceries?
Hi Kristina, how do you deal with long walks to someone's front door (like in apartments) and having many bags or heavy loads like water? Do you have a trolley thing or just take multiple trips?
I had heard it takes some time to be approved for shopping instacart so I applied early on a Saturday morning and was approved in a half hour. So just like when I decided to foster dogs and I decided to take a bonded pair for my first foster, I opted to take a 45 item order in a very bust grocery store near me. As it turns out, it was also the weekend a large university came back from Xmas break and the store was INSANE. I thought I knew the store and I do, for what I shop for. It took me over 2 hours between the insanity, the crazy long check out lines and my first time experience. I did not have a smooth check out and I don’t feel the app is that user friendly so here I am, trying to learn. Better late than never. Great suggestions!
I’m not planning on becoming a shopper, but am an Instacart user and thought it might be helpful to understand the process from the shopper’s point of view. And it definitely was! (Although it makes me even more puzzled about how I ordered and was charged for a 16 oz pkg of mushrooms, but received only an 8 oz pkg - surprised it got through the “wrong size” scan) I’m curious why you would be less interested in larger orders. Seems like tips would be bigger. I guess I’ve been lucky - I typically order lots of meat and produce from one store in particular and I always get my groceries super fast. But I’m a good tipper, so I suppose that’s it. And unless someone does something particularly egregious, I usually increase it even further after delivery. I even increased it on the order with the mushrooms (with a couple of other small issues) because I know it’s not easy. Which brings me to my next question - what is the percentage of the typical tip? BTW, I know I’m not in your area - we don’t have the stores you were shopping! 😂
I did one where the thing was originally 40 when I accepted it it was a double batch one didn't tip much and the other tipped 30 In the app and then after a complicated delivery handed me another 20 dollars for actually making it through googles difficult navigation
Hi Kristina, I must say this video is very transparent. You explained and covered everything that a newbie should or want to know. I personally think your video surpass everything video that I have viewed under the help sittings. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your experience & knowledge regarding shopping as an instacart contractor. God bless you! I would rate this video an A plus if asked. :)
I signed up for Instacart and am expecting my card today. Lined up a bunch of tutorial videos. I should’ve put yours first in the cue. I learned the most from your video. Thank you!
I just signed up to be an instacart shopper a couple nights ago, as I love grocery shopping so I figured what the heck! LOL. Waiting on my card now and in the meantime researching lots on how to be a shopper. Really liked finding & watching your video.
Thank you Kristina for this video. I wish I would have watched it before going on my first shopping trip!! I almost wanted to give up and NEVER do Instacart ever again, it was soooo bad! I'm still letting go of the absolute frustration I just put myself thru by no having watched this. So Thank You ;)
Excellent video. I wish more RU-vidrs would take a cue from you. I too hate long, rambling openings. I learned a lot from your Door Dash videos and you’ve done it again. Great job. Please keep the videos coming.
Kristina Lynn You’re welcome Kristina. I appreciate that you don’t ramble and have some big opening. I can’t think of anything I’d like covered right now. I’m doing Door Dash and your videos helped a lot when I started. I watched your videos several times. Thank you for the hard work. I know editing videos can be a lot of time work. My best to you. John
"I hate videos with long introductions so we`re just going to get into it right away." Aaaand you got a like! XD thanks for the ride along video, it was very helpful ^-^
OMG!!!! Your video is so perfectly thought out, organized and informative! Not to mention you are hilarious 🤣. Thanks for putting all the work you did into this, stay healthy and safe.
I signed up last week. Haven’t made a run yet. But when I did the demo training, I was worried I actually texted someone, so closed the app immediately
"If you guys are watching this and you passed it with ease, don't come for me in the comments." I'm laughing so hard I'm crying! Don't worry, Babygirl. It's okay and I thank you for this tutorial. :-)
Super informative. I am a dancer and lost my job due to covid 😢 just signed up n waiting for my card in the mail. Thank you for all the pointers. I immediately went to sign up for the alcohol delivery and realized my state doesn’t allow delivery of anything except beer 😫 but I did to the prescription one. Again, great video. Thank you so much
Hi There, Kristina! Hope you're doing well!🎉❤ Awsome step-by-step walk thru and extremely helpful! Thx!🎉❤ Question?? How n what are easy step-by-step procedures for when customer wants to add-on items to existing orders?🎉 Thx and stay safe and may all your shifts be prosperous!🎉❤ Happy Shopping!🎉❤
Thank you so much for your help. I've been doordashing and what you said about payment transparency is still true. A customer turned me on to instacart and I've been considering it but with some hesitancy. After watching your tutorial I've decided to go for it. Thank you again for your time because as we all know..time is indeed money
I’m so glad to hear someone else did bad on the prescription quiz I couldn’t figure out what I was answering wrong and they didn’t tell me which ones I got right and I just ended up giving up!
Pro tip about tips is sssooooo true. Also true for Ubereats customers as well. Seems like most people that don't tip either act odd, no eye contact, have complaints or odd/extra request that half the time you can't do (like use your own money to purchase something & promise to pay you back through the app even though they aren't even tipping you or ask to drop them off somewhere). I took orders in an area I usually don't do because in the past the few I did take did not tip and seem to have attitudes for some reason. Did everything (like "don't knock just leave at door" type of request) that the customer had in notes. After that week my rating went from 100% to 97%. Never went back to that area again. Rating went back up.
And thanks for the pro tip on not accepting orders from 0 tip orders, as I loved your punchline: I don't accept those batches, as they are almost always Karens! Hahahahaha Karens tend to be super-cheap and super picky.
I am starting this weekend and am really nervous but this helps tremendously so thank you. I am wondering about the bags though do I have to purchase reusable bags each delivery per customer? A lot of stores aren’t doing plastic ones anymore. Do they take off the cost of bag on the purchase order through the app?
As a HUGE Instacart customer and member (so my delivery fee is waived), I would be embarrassed to not leave a minimum of 20-25% of the total order as a tip (more if you follow my simple instructions of ringing the doorbell to alert me that my groceries have arrived since I could be on a conference call and might not be aware). I appreciate my Instacart shoppers so much for the time they save me and most of them go above and beyond in making sure I get the most important part of my grocery order (usually the family pack of cooked chicken from the Deli which serves as dinner for that day and is leftovers for lunch for the next day). My orders are usually pretty big (about 35 items, however mostly packaged multiples). I don't believe a shopper has received less than $35 for a tip from me at any given time and from the time they start shopping and finish checking out, at most they spent 20 minutes which is pretty impressive (I take longer than that myself, but then again I loathe shopping). I have had shoppers alert me of specials which I appreciated and increased their tip because of this extra effort. I always increase the tip if it starts raining after the fact shopping started. I do go out of my way to identify replacements in the app since I am so picky and I identify what I don't want replacements for due to being so picky. It saves the shopper time and I get exactly what I want. 7/10 times I am usually on a Zoom conference call and therefore I may not be immediately available to respond to the shopper's message which is why I do as much as I can on my end to help the shopper do what they need to do. I work from home and I rely on Instacart, Uber Eats, Door Dash and Amazon for pretty much 99% of everything I need. I literally have zero time to even leave my house most of the time. When and if I do, the last thing I want to do is to run errands and deal with people. I hate shopping and much rather spend my precious time doing other things. Therefore, THANK YOU to all that do Instacart and all these other companies. I for one appreciate the hell out of you all. I wish everyone tipped and for the cheap bastards that don't, they should be ashamed and I don't blame any of you for not taking their order as I wouldn't do it either. This type of work is not for everyone, but is such an important service for those that use it. While some people just use it occasionally in a pinch, there are others like myself that rely on the service for quality of life. Time is something you can never get back once it is wasted. Time is money. I want to spend my precious time doing what I want and grocery shopping or picking stuff up at the Dollar General or getting something to eat is just not worth my precious time and I will gladly pay for someone else to do it for me. So again, thank YOU, y'all ROCK! Stay safe.❤
Im just gonna let you know anyway, I passed the prescription test on my first try. 😂 all jokes but thanks for this video. Very helpful and informative !!
This was a really great video with amazing details about Instacarts process from signup to completion. Thumbs up and I will be signing up for instacart and doing it daily!
I experienced that today as a new Instacart driver, but my solution for Costco was just to connect to the Wi-Fi and I didn’t have any problems after that.
You did an amazing job of making this video as far as the technical and visual spectrum, explaining things and just teaching and coaching how to use this app. Very professional, kind, and just awesome! You are a cool gal and you are good at what you do. Kudos to you.
GREAT VIDEO 🤩! Thinking about leaving my horrible paying job to work for a delivery service. Your video was very informative and eased my nerves. Thank you, liked your video 👍
Thanks you so much for this video. You’re so sweet and it’s so easy to listen to you. I am so grateful as I havnt done my first order yet and want to know EVERYTHING 🤪
finally, someone shows screenshots of the app and how to navigate it!! i been getting comfortable with doordash, but have been shy trying a new app like instacart. i'm already signed up for IC months ago...but scared i couldn't figure it out!! thank you!!
I'm just waiting for my first order. I did a bunch of tutorials from the app, but i appreciate this video. It made me feel a little more confident. Now I just need a batch opportunity since my app is saying No Batches Available(we'll let you know when batches are available) lol.
Thank you for doing this video! You were to the point and very informative. I’ve been nervous about starting my first order/batch but I think I will give it a go finally tomorrow! You rock!
Thank you so much for posting this video! I’m so nervous to start the instacart venture and this whole video made it seem a lot more like something I can do and something I know I’ll be good at.
It’s so fun to see the behind the scenes lol! I use an app called Everlance! It automatically logs all driving trips you take and then you can quickly classify it as “business” or “personal” with a swipe. So cool.
use a small dedicated notebook and go old school. apps share data. i used to use an app but realized i was getting a ton of unwanted spam. since then, I have been using a notebook for 4 years. add up miles each week. make sure you log miles from starting point. if you are starting at your house, log odometer reading when you start the car. when you are back home or to a destination after you are done, record that odometer reading.
Thank you for your very informative video, it definitely helped with my anxiety. I just received my card today. I passed both tests to do alcohol and rx deliveries. I plan on starting tomorrow after I finish my regular job.
Thank you for the detailed tutorial. I have been going to the tutorials for different delivery jobs to see how it is done. You were very good at giving all details. Thank you.
You would have to communicate with customer to LET them know that there will be that additional cost, it just adding to their order. After all how they gonna get their stuff if it doent sit in something!!!
im planning to do instacart in NYC and they make you pay for bags. does the customer choose the type of bag or do I need to purchase them? Love this channel btw
This is so helpful and definitely easing my anxiety. One thing I didn't see covered that I'm nervous about. What about stores that make you pay for bags, for example, Aldi? Does the bag cost get added to their payment? Or how does that work? Thank you!
Thank you 🙏 I was hesitant & nervous about doing my first job/Batch but you made me more comfortable & confident! Be safe out there my fellow Carter lol 😆
