Let me be clear, When a diplomat is in their home country, nor when they are on leave or away from their host country in a non-official travel., no diplomatic immunity are afforded.THEY SHOULD HAVE REALIZED THAT THE CHINESE OFFICIALS CLEARLY KNOWS THIS. At the end of a diplomat's career, between their last posting and retirement from service, they'll typically return to their home country at least for debriefs and be requested to surrender identifications issued by the government including special badges and passports They may take up a pre-retirement job in the HQ of their ministry of foreign affairs, diplomatic academy, private sector or elsewhere. Diplomatic immunity usually ends once a diplomat has been separated from their post
