Dr.s Phinney & Volek deserve a Nobel prize for the work they have done regarding metabolic health.

I don't know, yet, the specifics of their research, but a shared prize to the 50-100 top researches in LC diets despite working against the "obvious" SAD is certainly worth it.

It really is a challenge to find a primary doctor who understands the Keto diet, much less that supports it.

@stvcolwill
@stvcolwill Год назад
@@jackschitt6235 no not at all. I have been ketovore for a little over a year and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I have benefited greatly on so many levels. What I was getting at is that there are doctors who aren’t studied up, no clue, who are joining the low carb doctor lists that are just trying to get more patients. They don’t have a clue. I found this when trying to switch to any doctor in my area that understands how keto even works. And, I’m in a huge metropolis area! In my area there are a couple of specialist who only take severely obese patients and cost a lot. Neither of which I need. I just want a general practitioner who is up on the research enough to have as a keto patient viably. Sadly I haven’t found any.

Legends! On my own 25 year journey. Still get confused and lose my way from time to time. And the rabbit hole often leads back to these two gentlemen…and sometimes to the observations of Dr. Atkins. Recently, for this metabolically challenged old dude, their protein and fat lessons are golden. 🙏

I found out about the Keto diet when I visited family in the USA in July this year. At 65 (Aussie retired nurse consultant) it has dramatically reduced and sometimes stopped my hunger. I have lost over 7kg since August this year, my bloods are now normal and I feel so great. I can now enjoy being active in my garden and walking to our local shops is much easier. I consider I will be able to continue to lose weight, atain a normal BMI and sustain this Keto lifestyle in the longterm.

Probably because the video has no description and the title is so vague that people interested in keto or Phinney/Volek will click elsewhere.

Excellent discussion thanks ! What amazes me is that the health authority’s recommendations for a healthy diet i.e. 50-55% carbs has created the biggest health disaster ever with approx 2.5 billion adults being obese on this planet …….. but this doesn’t seem to be bad enough yet to change the official recommendations !

I think they forgot about the most important issue here which is carb addiction. I think most people know how they should be eating but they can’t stick to it because of the addiction part of this subject.

Is there any risk of bone loss with long term (like decades) keto? I am a mid 50s male that has been on "healthy keto" for over 3 years and have osteopenia which was diagnosed after about my first year of keto. So this is super important for me.

@@marygrabill7127 Thank you. BTW, I had upped my protein dramatically (probably double), among other things, and recently had another dexascan and learned I gained about 8% bone density since my previous scan, 2 years prior. Some of the other things I did was cut out about 1 - 1 1/2 pots of coffee per day, reduced nut consumption, started eating an apple a day and berries at night, and started lifting weights and using a high-resistance elliptical.

@@pangeaketo I use the same combination sugar substitute but still get an insulin response. Not the same level as sugars but the body still thinks of sweeteners as a good reason for your physiology to respond with insulin. Reversed my diabetes through keto and intermittent fasting over two years ago. No meds for diabetes control for two years. It works when you work it! Good luck.

Drop ALL SUGARS!! CARBOHYDRATES, processed oils, potatoes, bread, rice, cereal, etc. They all turn into sugar. Suger is the culprit!! Don't think about subscripting sugar. That's like saying which TYPE of poison do I want to kill myself with!!

I've always worked out in fitness, weights and martial arts. I've also always struggled to get physically defined. My diet has always been between 70%-90% spot on. I'm 57 yrs old. 3rd Sept 2021 I had a surprise double bypass surgery?? My heart saved me, it was strong it was the pipework that was a mess, I found out it was to do with genetics and PTSD, stress. I was 14 st 2lbs, compact before surgery 5ft 8 inches. In March 2022 I'd given up, I was still struggling to walk, rehabilitation was a just hard. 7 mths after the surgery. I watched things on RU-vid about men back at work in 3-4 months. 100% Rubbish, Bollocks. And they were slobs... I was a brick, giving guys half my age a run for their money. In March I went to 15st 7 lbs fat. 15th April 2022 a friend recommended keto and intermittent fasting.. Within 4-6 weeks I was walking from 2 miles to 7 miles. My body started healing fast, I was back in the gym, tapping a few bags. Great, but I've lost a lot of the muscle through keto and intermittent fasting and struggling to regain the lost muscle. I admittedly did what I called clean keto down to 2 meals day sometimes 1 meal a day. I've lost a lot of the body fat I'd gained I'm 12st 10 lbs, but still carrying external body fat? Smooth can anyone answer that please 🙏 The body has gone into hibernation mode so it feeds on the muscle keeping a hold of the body fat
