My other GoPro broke on this flight, so rather than waste over 1 hour's worth of footage from a great day's flying, I uploaded the whole unedited video from inside the cockpit!
This is the entire flight from startup to shutdown. My route was Perth - Crieff - Stirling - Thornton - Perth, taking around 1 hour. I've included all of the ATC audio, including receiving a basic service from Scottish Information. Due to the high pressure system affecting the UK just now, this flight was quite hazy, but still well within legal VFR minima. As you can see from the footage, there was virtually zero turbulence. I was able to fly this route hands-off for most of the flight. And no, there is no autopilot!
This Cessna 152, G-BSDO, belongs to ACS Flight Training at Perth Airport, Scotland.

Great video and flight! If I tried to do this in a flight sim without using the autopilot, the plane would be all over the place without constant manual adjustment... even wrestling! Incredible how stable your aircraft was... and how stable aircraft are in general compared to flight sim planes. Honestly, comparing simulated flight with real flight, with my 9 hours of PUT in a similar 152, flying a real light aircraft is much easier IMO! Thanks for the upload. 😊👍

Thanks for the comment Johnny! Agreed, Flight Sim can be very useful and accurate in some respects, but is a lot harder to ‘feel’ than the real aircraft. I’d be the same, it’s a lot harder to trim out a simulator than doing it for real. The 152 is a great aircraft but the very unusual weather played a huge part in getting it trimmed out on this occasion 😉

why is the altimeter showing different readings before takeoff and after landing?

When taking off, QNH is used to set the altimeter, which indicates altitude above mean sea level. Perth Airport is roughly 400ft above MSL, so the altimeter reflects that. When landing, QFE is used, which indicates height above aerodrome level, meaning that on the ground, the altimeter reads 0ft. Thanks for the comment!

Eesa Khan There are no requirements as such. It’s recommended that you make sure you’re able to get a medical before spending too much on flight training (class 1 for commercial and class 2 for private)
