I’m really tempted to buy some neons and have a go at breeding them. I loved your neon tetra breeding video and it definitely looks like a very rewarding project. Thanks for this update!
I’ll tell ya they’re real easy to spawn! I just set up my second tank ever and got 20 of them in there and they show signs of spawning after only a couple weeks!
I have had mine for 2-3 weeks and there are already fry. My pH is 8.0... I was NOT expecting it. I wasn't trying to breed either! I have otos, cherry/amano shrimp, pygmy corydoras and lots of neon tetras.
Nice video but a couple of suggestions. One, if you use infusoria rather than egg yolk you’ll improve the survival rate of the very young fry. Secondly, the deformed gill plates are common with young tetras (and some other species) and can be caused by ‘poor’ water quality - the egg yolk can contribute towards this. I’ve made a couple of videos of tetras spawnings on my channel which you may find useful…
You're doing a great Job, 👍 Thumbs up 👍 I've been breeding/propagating Fishes specifically from Central/South America for over 42 Years - I'm 50, by the way. Think you're really great... continue to have maximum success & many greetings from Germany
Goes without saying, but I'll still say it: Thank you for the incredible content. I'm sure I speak for all the hobbyists globally when I tell you that we enjoy your videos so much because you're living the dream!
@@richardcolligon4277 I thought he was doing ok but he makes the same mistakes over and over he doesn't take advice. He is hung up on this Neon Tetra breeding ever since Cory mentioned him. Everything he does now is for Cory's benefit. I watch because it fascinates me how many people think he is skilled.
just a quick shout out... i enjoyed your videos over the last week i decided to get back into my fish after a long break. you made me realise how much i miss my fishys..... i am hoping it will chill me back out...the last couple of years have been stress for us all.. good luck in your new business opportunity ...
Even your comment section is inspiring. Whenever you make a video no matter how long or informative it is there's always going to be help around the corner. Thank you for organizing this community. 👍🥂
Thanks for giving me the inspiration! I started a breeding project with Tucanoichthys tucano. Again, please continue making/ showing us your wonderful fish videos.
How cool! I can't believe how tiny the fry start off. It's so refreshing to see a big fish channel that's Australian, and actually hear "from Kmart" - it's like music to my ears 🤣 I always feel so left out when US channels talk about getting things from stores we don't have here!
Congrats for the great content you share 👏👏👏 your videos are a motivation for many aquarists to start new projects...the way you demonstrate and how you teach is incredible ✌️ thanks 😄
I've been trying this off and on for a little while and I got my first viable looking eggs today. I've only been doing one container and pair, but if the fry survive I feel pretty confident in scaling up to trying multiple containers.
Hey man, I would love to see a brislenose breeding video. I know you've done some in the past, but I feel like you have more knowledge now. Love the videos man, keep up the work
Can you make a video on how you made your water system ? Can’t find any videos that tell you how to make your own water from your home at all . And what kind of system and materials you need to build a set up like yours !
nice video! have you considered to buy fishes from fish shops and sell them on your website? i think there is decent demand since your online shop seems to be always empty. maybe feature some of them on your channel (tips/guide to grow/maintain them) this way you might have more revenue. your channel is very interesting as a business model/marketing avenue.
I don't care what the hater's say, I think you're great and love the video's. All the Kmart stores closed up here in the USA. Would you be so kind as too get me something during the blue light sale's. ( Lol ).
I have 15l tank with 6 neon tetras and 1 albino cory alongside ludwiga repens polysperma and lucky bamboo that i bought and set up 1 year ago. Today ive noticed 2 tetras with really fat bellies just like fish in the video. Should i put them in diffrent tank to breed or just leave them in this tank. ludwiga and polysperma provide a lot of foliage
Question... I just bread zebre danios using your vid but only using yoke, they are about 2 months old but can I put snails in to tank to eat left over eggs?
Deformed fry is part of the process with all of these small egg layers. In nature they get caught first. I try and catch them out as early as possible as I hate euthanizing the larger ones. Even while I do it humanely with clove oil.
do all types of neon tetras school together? my girlfriend bought 5 neon tetras and 2 died and they didnt have any neon so i replaced the 2 with a glow light and a black neon tetra. im not trying to breed them together just curious if theyll be happy together or if i should get more of each specific type? i would like to breed some neons tho!
I accidentally bred them. The weird thing is, my pH is 8.0, and yesterday it spiked to 8.8. But, this morning, (in my stocked tank of amano shrimp, cherry shrimp, otocinclus, and neon tetras). It's planted. This morning I woke up (and I've had these neons for less than 1 month) and there were fry in the tank that look like yours. Anyway... Did not anticipate that. I'm actually trying to slowly lower my kh & pH slowly to a more sustainable level. I recently got catappa leaves, and I'll start adding a little bit of ro water to my tank during water changes.
How long does the egg laying process take after the first egg is laid?. Today morning i see my neon cardinal tettra first egg. Now i see another eggs. Please help me
So it only takes 2r hours to hatch? I can't belive how quickly this process takes. Awesome I'm wondering do you need to pair them to do well breeding or would they breed in a tank setting with other neon.s.,? anyone help??
Not quite sure pouring such tinies into a tank from such a height into such a low water depth is that great for them... might be one thing that contributed to a few swimming "funny" ? Each to his own though & thanks for the vid =)
My guess on the swim bladder thing: over eating. Especially brine shrimp. When they eat so much that their little bellies are so huge, I’ve heard it can damage the swim bladder’s development.
Hello, I spawned neon tetra fish, but no eggs hatched, as it was the type of rain water. Is the problem in fertilizing the eggs or chemical water? Please answer
The water only effects the adults drive to spawn, not the eggs themselves. So if they’re spawning but no eggs hatch, either they’re not fertilizer or you weren’t seeing the tiny fry.
Amazing video Nick! Good job on the neon fry! I’ve been watching you since 2017. Keep it up man. Also quick question. Don’t feel obligated for whatever reason but I was wondering if you could send a video to my email with is in my about section on my channel. Of you telling me your worst fish keeping mistake? Or just a email telling the story. If you don’t have time that’s understandable as you are setting up your new shop! Anyway so excited for you man keep it up! Also to anyone reading email me if your are interested in being featured in this video! Only 5 spots left! Thanks!
Hey buddy, I have a question. Is the male and female are just the same size, coz it's so hard to sex them which is which.. Last year I have bought a dozen of this neon tetra, now I wanted to try to breed them, watching your video and the way you breed them looks so easy for you, bye n thanks..
I am trying to breed my neon tetras. But something is not right. I used peat moss, placed it in my tank with distilled water for over a week. The peat is nice and settled, spawn mop in the corner but my two neon's doesn't seem to mate. I placed baby brine shrimp in the tank to help and added some cold distilled water and still nothing, they have been in the tank for 36 hours now. Any thoughts?
I ended up with smae issue with simillar configurations. Now i am breeding them clear plastic container with no peat, I see alot of eggs but they are not hatching, I am in different zone of issue.
