Today let's have a look at the batteries that will be going into the Pro Guide for 2024.
Batteries are a big expense, but knowing you have power to last days takes a big load off your mind.
Going into year three of running Lynac Lithium, I am happy to continue our partnership with a great company.

Loving the blog style of videos, Glenn! Lets you sort of expand the content to various aspects a lot of people don’t get to see normally. Although this doesn’t affect me now, I do hope to get a boat soon in the future, so this was still a great watch! Looking forward to the next one 🫡

Appreciate that, this is the goal of the channel this season, all the great fishing content you expect but add the daily vlog updates that keep it real. The real life stuff that goes into owning a boat, or two and the behind the scenes stuff with the fishing (musky) industry are just as cool. Thanks for watching!

I definitely will have to check out lithium batteries when my current batteries decide to give out. Looking forward to the your install video and curious on the weight savings. Great video brother.

I’m running a full Lynac system aside from my cranking battery. I couldn’t get a straight answer from the dealership for motor warranty etc so I opted not to get the lithium cranking battery. But I’ve got a 120AH BT true for my graphs and 3 120AH BT true for my trolling motor along with the 4 bank charger rigged up. I put a NOCO plug in in the back and routed a heavy extension cord to the charger so I can just plug my rig in without actually climbing into it. Makes life a little easier.

That sounds like a great set up! I had a similar set up in my basscat. With the new pro guide it was time for a wholesale swap over to lithium. I'm not sure if there are any more warranty issues with lithium, I believe mercury now allows lithium cranking batteries on their motors. Again don't quote me there. Just nice to know we have all day power with no drop offs. Thx for watching!

Going on three season now and loving the all day, or all weekend power and quick charge times and the weight savings are a bonus! What's not to love?

Nice to see. I run 5 batteries and just changed 3 graphs and mega live to a single 100 ah lithium. everything i have read has suggested to not run your cranking batteries to litihum yet. Now I see that those are labelled cranking. Is the reliability and technology there now for cranking batteries. Like you I am in Canada and sometimes on the water I will see no one all day. That has scared me from changing . The weight savings is staggering

Lynac has some bass pros set up with full lithium rigs and Conor said there has been no issues, as of yet. It was time to try it and if I have issues, I report it here, so we can learn together! I just got tired of dealing with dead or weak batteries all the time after long days. Until something better comes along, Lithium is here to stay, we either get on board or stay with the heavy, old technology. thanks for watching!

Not sure about the particulars, but one of the fishing guys at Cabelas in Barrie told me a story about his buddy who was a tournament angler. His lithium batteries malfunctioned and burned his boat, his driveway, his garage, and all his gear. His insurance company would not cover the loss because he failed to notify them that he had lithium batteries - some technicality. I have absolutely no idea how true or why it happened, but it might be worth having a conversation with your insurance agent to make sure you are covered!

Interesting, I don't know the chemistry of the earlier lithium-ion batteries but I understand it was much less stable. The newer version of LFP or LiFePO4 batteries are much safer, able to handle over charging without overheating and are much less affected by water etc Many of the pro anglers use them, many weekend anglers are using them. On the questionnaire for boating insurance there was no mention of battery type. My experience has been nothing but great this far.

That’s good to know Glenn. Like I said, this was a secondhand story and I was sceptical, but bottom line is to make sure you don’t give the insurance companies any excuse to deny coverage after the fact!
