I have 2 questions. I didn’t realize that tigers didn’t spawn. It seems you get a number of them… how are they there in abundance without reproducing? The second is based on the little tykes board…. I definitely fish too close on some spots. For places new to you, what do you looks for to decide you need to start deeper ?
@54orbust
@54orbust 7 дней назад
NWO is at the perfect location, with a late spring thaw to see the spawning times for musky and pike to overlap. I suspect 4-6 yrs ago we had a few years of those conditions and thus the wealth of tigers. Life any thing, they will die off and we won't see as many in a few years. Second, study the lake maps. Look for obvious spots to start. And always, always work in slowly. That's the hard part. Take your time while you break down spots.

I bought the Musky shop in Woodruff Wisconsin out of the sunset jailbird regular swimming dawg which was 11 of them and I got the pro bulldawg in sunset jailbird from the Wausau Wisconsin musky expo. My 10 year old son caught his first musky ever 2 weeks ago on the sunset jailbird regular swimming dawg which was 47 1/4" and I won a league night of ours with a 45" on the same swimming dawg and our last Musky tournament I got 2nd with the same swimming dawg. My 8 year old loves throwing the same pattern rubber confident it will bring him his first musky ever. Both of my boys and I love throwing medussas and we all 3 would ABSOLUTELY LOVE a medussa in the sunset jailbird pattern! We have to settle for the bulldawg in that pattern I have though for now which just am not as confident in throwing compared to the medussa! Both boys and I watch EVERY episode of 54 or bust on here and they are constantly asking me if you posted anything new on Facebook and when you do they have to check out and read the post. When they saw this episode they asked if they could give me money they have saved in their piggy banks each to have me go online and order them each a medussa in sunset jailbird and I had them go back and rewatch this and listen to what you said about them being the only ones in existence and that you will be giving a set away and they were alittle bummed they can't have me order them each one of their own but are confident if I comment about it they feel lucky enough to win the set and each have one. But if not we are hoping they become available to buy and they can spend their own saved up money on them and would be happy to use their money for one. They also fight over who is gunna wear my 53 or bust hoody I got from you when we go out because they feel so cool to be representing you guys and they both live by the stuff you say and tips you give on how to fish what type of area and have really keyed in on you talking about moon times too. I am glad they look up to you guys and take everything you say to heart and that is how it is and it has paid off for my 10 year old son and will for my 8 year old son too! Thank you guys for the tips and content you put out. We try and do everything to support you guys in any and all ways we can!

Great video as always, Glenn. Backing off structure and hitting the deeper breaks is something I definitely plan to work on this year up there. I think part of the reason that folks from the states push tighter to the shore is because most lakes up there aren’t mapped so it’s comfortable to know that you’re at least hitting one of the breaks by getting tight to shore. Those who have fished up there for many years do a better job of boat positioning.
@54orbust
@54orbust 8 дней назад
Kyle, that is a great way of looking at it. I suppose if you don't know the lay out it would be easier to start tight and work out. But, that hardly ever works in the real world. Can't wait to put some stink in the new Alumacraft soon...

Such a great channel & vid! This is one of the only channels that actually explains WHERE to fish for Muskie. It’s hard to know where to start unless it is properly explained like it is here. Fishing over deep water can feel very foreign, and it is good to see how it should be done. Very nice to hear that you should not be afraid of going a bit deeper.

Thanks so much for finding us and watching! We always wanted to be the channel that shares 'HOW' we do it, not just the results. The catch fest channels are many and they rarely show you how and why. Appreciate you tuning in!

Man that breakdown explained my last trip almost to a tee. We were going along 20-30 fow, casting up main lake islands and steep bank drop offs with the IC7 and tubes, ended up 2 for 5 for the day. 74 deg surface water temps, winds picked up like crazy, and they moved up really shallow on protected side. Biggest one humbled me, hooked in 3-4 fow, jumped and fought like an absolute unit, then lost her boatside. The way she goes sometimes...

Over which (bottom) depth and/or up to which depth do you fish dive&rise style jerkbaits? I own a range of baits running down from a foot up to 6-7 feet deep but I am uncertain the latter are the best choice at times. Thanks for your feedback
@54orbust
@54orbust 8 дней назад
Around minors and majors I tend to think fish will move further, vertically to hit a bait. Off peak you generally have to get the bait down closer to where they are sitting in the water column. I err on the side of a deeper running dnr. Even with a Suick I reach for one that I know runs 5-6' deep.
