@Tanya Collett Mickey Mouse, aka Gomer Pyle was Vincent D'Orfino who eventually kills the Drill Sargent after Hartmann goes too far verbally abusing Him and He goes Nuts, and Shoots Him! He then Shoots Himself by putting His Rifle in his Mouth and does a "Swallow Your Gun" move! D'Orfino later was on "Law & Order SVU".
Funny thing about that movie is that even though Lee Ermey was an actor after his military career. In the marines he was a drill instructor I think during the Vietnam war. So that’s probably one reason he was chosen for that role. Louis Gossett Jr made a very good drill instructor in an Officer and a gentleman but he was acting. Even though I thought he did a terrific job and I like his movies
If I'm not mistaken, they originally took him on as a consultant for accuracy. He was demonstrating how the scene would have realistically happened, and his performance was so good they decided to just give him the role.
R Lee Ermey was a consultant to Louis Gossett Jr. (which won LGJ an Oscar) RLE got smarter when he was hired as a consultant for full metal jacket, and did an audition video. He ended up being good enough to take the role from the actor who was cast.
Goof Troop really used to have such heavy flashback moments. This and that particular scene where Goof and Pete used to smoke joint together from the muzzle of a Remington in the jungle after an S&D.
