You need to turn your sound up for this one...What started as a beautiful evening of watching the Full Moon rise above the horizon turned into a evening of mystery as I heard something screaming out in the woods, It was something I've never heard before, and as I stood out there in the dark, my interest in the Moon became distant as tried to figure out what that haunting scream was. My video card ran out of space just as the noise started approaching me. I swapped cards and started filming the Moon once again. My curiosity about the noise quickly turned into a brief moment of terror. Whatever was out there screaming, was now within 20 feet of where I was standing. I grabbed my tripod and attempted to turn it in the direction of the critter. I never did get a chance to see what it may have been; it fled the 2nd time my flash fired. Of all the nights to be standing out in the dark with no flashlight or firearm. Once I regained my composure, I began videotaping the Moon again & listened to the shrieking and all the neighborhood dogs barking. I debated going in for the night, but decided to stick it out for a bit longer. I was hoping the awful noise was the little red fox I thought I saw near the edge of the yard with a six-pack of deer right before Sunset. In the 18 years I've lived here, I've never seen one around here. First thing I did when I came back in was Google "What does the fox say?". I now believe one introduced itself in a very frightening way tonight. Hard to believe something that small can make that much of a racket.
