You can still get the bespoke Access 3 footprint on some websites and eBay, rather than the universal one. I have it and it is perfect with none of the issues you have with the universal, if you see one well worth the money
I fancy the naturehike cloud peak but its 2p. This would be a lot more roomy for 2 and gear. Not sure it's worth the extra money though. Over 3x as much. Thanks for showing us around it.
Dear Dean, could you explain please how to install and tighten those long 4 straps which are for additional stability. I have on them red metal peace of metal which look like banana and i dont understand how to use it. Br.
I saw the access 3 with ventilation openings in the outer tent on the internet. I think that MSR has revised the tent in this regard. Does anyone know anything more about this? Does this fix the ventilation problem?
Hi. The outer fly sheet does not extend down to the ground like a Hilleberg 4 season tent. This does allow for some airflow. But that said, a winter tent is all about warmth so the Access is a bit strange by having a slightly raised fly sheet. There is also a bit of breathable net on the top of the inner tent door. I would say this is more a 3.5 season tent.
Hi. The floor area is 213cm long and 178 wide. A standard width Thermorest mat is 51cm wide and the 'wide' version is 64cm wide. So you can get 2 x std and 1 x wide mat into the Access 3 with a little room left over. .
