Great footage! And interesting to see how different the roads and bike infrastructure in the UK are. I commute to work here in Austin Texas... Our roads and infrastructure are... abysmal. lmao, plus Texas is ass. What camera do you use, bruv?
Hey thanks for the feedback. Our cycling infrastructure is slowly getting better. It'd be cool to see bike commuter vids around Austin. I use GoPro 10s and a chest mount for the front camera. I mainly use wide but switch to superview for BMX or trail rides just cause you're more upright and the angle is better. Cheers and good luck out there!
You totally should. I follow a few cyclists is the USA doing similar videos and I think they’re neat. NY, California but not the midwest so highly recommend to do it😀 I use GoPro 10s with a chest mount for the front shot. I like to get arms and the handle bar in shot as it puts the ride in context with a familiar sort of look. The GoPros are average at sound recording so I record using an iPhone with a Rode Wireless Go lapel. I connect the socked microphone inside of clothing near my neck to reduce wind noise. In editing I match the GoPro audio with the iPhone audio and then cut out the camera footage leaving clean sound. I apply a bit if noise cancelling to reduce road noise. ( I did a bit too much on this video btw making it too boomy) Maybe I should do a video on this?🤣Good luck getting a video out! 🇳🇿
Great video, good on you commuting by bike in Auckland, braver man than me. The questionable/non-existant infrastructure in Auckland combined with the hills and traffic looks exhausting, especially for a commute longer than 30min. I feel like it would just be a matter of time till would get hit/doored I manage in Nelson but the commute is under 10min and bike lanes marginally better/more % coverage. Christchuch has the best I've seen for NZ at least
Thanks for your comments. 😀There’s definitely sections of this commute where you have to be careful. I find riding the same route all the times helps you become aware of dodgy bits. I’m shooting another video this week illustrating a commute to work utilising cyclepaths for the whole trip as another option. 👍
Hi, well I’ not much of a MBiker. I prefer retro 90’s mountain bikes as i like to tinker with them and they’re cheap! ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cfBpagSuc6s.html) Imo if you want to ride off-road then get double suspension with hydraulic brakes. Trek or Kona for example. If you want to commute get something lighter like a gravel bike. You could test out options by visiting a bike hub and picking up a cheap bike first. Good luck out there!🇳🇿🚴♀️
