What kills me is how little he needs to use his tail elevator to put the aircraft on a fast rate of climb. If you fast forward to roughly 4:42 you'll see him hit V-1 and then just as his front gear starts to clear the tarmac he gives the elevator just a brief but significant flick and he''s in a steep climb right as soon as the wheels leave the ground! Most planes don't have the thrust to go into such a steep climb right from takeoff. It's fantastic.
Although the new series of fighters (F-35, F-22, etc) are VERY impressive, after having spent MANY hours in and around the F-16 both at Moody AFB, GA, and Osan AB, ROK, it's still one of the most beautiful and impressive aircraft ever built!!! Old, but still very capable!!
I swear, the f35 and the f22 raptor just look amazing. They have this certain style. Like the Corvette ZR1. You can tell it is a badass machine ready to rock and roll.
Flew many motors all my career but I always liked how the F-4E looked and sounded. My favorite fighter of the current generation is the F-15E. Night, low level, brings a ton of hurt, and can hassle with the best.
Time from roll out to rotate 15 seconds for the F-35 and 16 seconds for the F-16. A Boeing 737-800 is between 25 and 35 seconds depending on the load. Considering the weight difference between all three I would say that's pretty impressive. Turbine engine and fuel technology has come a long way in the last 30 years.
I was out at Langley AFB the other day during training as they were doing scrambling drills with the F22 raptor ..a mad dash to get a squadron of F22s in the air was amazing ! Getting a bunch of fighter jets in the air in a hurry us a thrill to watch. The pilots are as impressive as the air planes .. I cant fly do to inner ear issues but I could only imagine the adrenalin rush these pilots get when going vertical! It's amazing how this many planes can get in the air in a short amount of time .. God bless America and all keeping us safe !
I live near Langley afb and been seeing these for the first time because they are doing the Atlantic trident thing. They look so cool with the f22s together.
@@compagnieresonance The Mig-29 is a smoky coal burning piece off shit from a country that can't even back up it's maintenance..hence why do many are rusting at the ends off disused runways all.over Eastern Europe and other parts off the world . Some are even being replaced by F-16s..and rightly so..The F-16 had shot them down in real combat..
@@JDar23 F15 is a two engine fighter. The F16 was a more efficient, single seat, highly capable, single engine fighter. What took off that runway only had one engine.
Truly WOW material, that Lightning bird! I love ALL fighter-jets, but IF I had to choose one, without regard of its purpose, I would probably choose the F/A-18F Super Hornet! But the F-35 Lightning is also a beautiful bird! And who doesn't love the F-14 Tomcat?! As a GA pilot, I got excited on the flight-deck of a B-747, but it would be astounding to be in one of those fighters, but ONLY if I had some g-training, because those guys will give you the ride of your life and you need to be able to handle it or you'll pass out, flip your cookies and you will NOT enjoy those side-effects! But it's difficult to even imagine what the power feels like behind the stick of one of those birds today, it HAS to be the most exhilarating thing in the world! I was in the Concorde years ago and the thing that amazed me the most was how dark purple the sky was at 56,000' but at higher? But no fighter jet for me without g-training and a flight suit as those fighter-jets today can shoot up to 70,000' in seconds!
Enjoyed these two, side by side. Thanks! I haven't taken in that many fighter videos. But am driven to pass on a type I ran into last week. There are at least a couple places where military pilots train at low level, And people are able (on ridgelines) to get Really close to watch and film. One video/poster is "MACH LOOP 4K" by Dafydd Phillips. The 'Mach' name is from a village nearby, Machynlleth, in Wales. Lush green hills and valleys. The other area is called Star Wars Loop (or similar), that one in U.S.A. desert terrain, perhaps Death Valley. I said 'Really close,' but that doesn't convey the situation... my honest reaction was 'how can this be??'
Really nice to see BOTH the F-16 and F-35! Arguably, the external fuel tanks and armament slow the F-16 down. Yet some argue that to achieve the same range, the F-16 requires the externals in order to match what the F-35 does with all storage being internal. The same argument applies to the missiles.
I wish they didn’t discontinue production of the f-14 tomcat. They should have modified it to be on par with the present fighters. That was one badass place with its retractable wings and everything. One of my all time favourites after the Stuka dive bomber and the modified p-51 mustang with the rolls Royce merlin engines.
@@ericnijkamp7926 Its so slick and seamless, it looks like a cartoon or CGI. The glare of the canopy material is beautiful. Got to see both f35 and f22 side by side at Oshkosh from 20ft away.
Some jets designed 40 years ago are twice as fast, have more maneuverability, are less complex, so easier maintained. Try to repair the computers of the F-35 in a war scenario. When the computers fail = jet useless. I bet within 1.5 year, a couple of them will be used for parts, like is done with everything in the army in NL. For it's weight, not even fully armed, it's not powerful enough.
Look at those Sukhoi's. They are sleek, and built for speed and maneuverability. It can make a turn on the spot, while the F-35 has a mile (estimated) turn radius.
Mr. Nuke designed more then 40 years ago. Can kill, Sukhoi, F-35 F-16, airforce or ruin planet. When everythink fail, Mr. Nuke will solve. When everythink not fail, we play with toys and politics. All these flying pieces of metal are good toys and bad toys, good politics and bad politics. No need to quarrel about differences, because when difference matters, and toys and politics doesnt help; Mr. Nuke will help ye out.
Enjoyed watching this but there are some other vids on the F-35 which clearly demonstrate how ridiculously powerful its engine is (this isn't exactly a good example of the F-35s "full power" takeoff). Its thrust and climb rate is absurd. Also, I love the F-16 like every1 else but when do you ever see it without 2 giant external fuel tanks on either wing? Outside of Thunderbird airshows, the F-16 is completely dependent on massive external fuel tanks. The slim, trim, and nimble look of the F-16 that everyone loves doesn't really exist in the real world. The F-35 is often criticized for its lack of "aesthetics" but it's designed to carry its fuel and payload internally. The F-35 may not be the most slim and sexy bird but that's because it's designed for the 21st century, not the 20th. Bleh, I love the F-16 but felt the F-35 was getting an unfair shake for its appearance in the comment section.
I was thinking the same thing. I'm no expert, but whenever I've seen a jet hit the afterburner, there usually is a exhaust trail almost the length of the engine(s).
Take some time to apriciate the beauty .Zomm in to it, F-16 going to be a memory for old folks. The spitfire is the most beautiful one. We not have a beauti contest here ?. Count Kills.
I live a block from the JRB (Carswell) and actually get to see F-35's, F-22's, F-18 super hornets and F-16's every day and sometimes we even get to see them all dogfight! It's a fighter geeks dream. Lol! The F-35's are the loudest jets I've ever heard and we used to have B-52's and B-2's, even SR-71's come in and out of the base.
Loved the Cats. Sad to see the last to go. F-4, F-6, F-7,F-8,F-14 Think I got them all. The 14 was/is still my fav. with the 22 coming in a close 2nd., very close 2nd!!!!
Airplane profiles are like car profiles, some classic and some modern. While I know a new factory Dodge Challenger Demon will smoke a 70's factory Challenger, I prefer the looks of the older. As well as I prefer the looks of an old F-5 over the F-35 and the looks of an old AH-1 Cobra over an AH-64 Apache helicopter. Looks are in the eye of the beholder, glad we have the best of both worlds!
That's nostalgia if you just prefer older models. It's all subjective though no one can deny the F-35 looks clean and sleek compared to the junk yard hanging off of the F16.
