In all seriousness, if you didn’t know Ronaldo was Ronaldo, didn’t know he was 39, and were just judging him based on just objectively watching him, there is no way you’d come to the conclusion that he’s holding the team back. The media is fixated on trying to bench Ronaldo and really don’t appear to accept he may be 39 but he has the fitness of a player a decade younger than his age. By comparison, I’ve seen no talk from the media about Southgate benching Kane. A player who looks like he’s struggling to move around the pitch at only 30.
