The ESPN FC panel of Steve Nicol, Alejandro Moreno and Frank Leboeuf react to Erling Haaland's 3-goal performance in Manchester City's 4-1 win over Ipswich Town.
Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne is (literally) the most successful Duo in PL History. City at times have played with Aguero up top, no striker/false 9 and now with Haaland. City have played with pacy wingers like Sané+Sterling and with controlling wingers like Grealish+Bernardo/Mahrez. City have played with overlapping FBs, inverting FBs and a backline of 4 CBs. The *one thing* that has remained the same throughout _aaaaall_ of City's successful seasons under Pep: KDB and Bernardo start. Every match. Some seasons Bernardo plays RW, sometimes False 9, sometimes in the Double 10, sometimes in the Double Pivot...against Arsenal two seasons ago he played fucking LB. But he will play. Bernardo and KDB are the two diamonds of Pep's City who are actually almost polar opposites of one another and accommodate each other perfectly. KDB is almost an "anti-Pep player". He could not care less about possession or pass accuracy. And when Pep shouts at KDB to keep the ball, KDB will shout back "Shut up!". Bernardo is Pep's student. Garry Neville imo very rightfully once said about Bernardo: "If you were to ask Pep what his definition of a perfect player was, it would be Bernardo." (yes we all know Messi is the best player ever but in regards to completeness, understanding, the decisions he makes at every point in the game, off the ball effort etc. you get the point). Of course there has always been more focus on KDB bc he's the more attacking player but Bernardo is just as good. Those two are King.
Finally someone who understands pep.....but he might end up starting from the bench though or getting subbed off more often than none coz foden has to play and savinho definitely has to play....I'm thinking Silva can also start in place of doku....coz I don't think savinho is getting benched anytime soon and savingo is already wayyy better than doku(coz savinho dribbles and makes perfect final decisions unlike doku who is just 97% dribble and 3% end product
Pep will never bench Bernado, he always finds a position for him. Even the players troll silver as being the managers boy 😅. Pep always says he feels same with the ball when bernadiki is on the field.
Players like silver a football players not talent only they know the whole thi game calls football like Gundogan they understand everything abt football they can play center back and still perform perfectly
If you look at Bernardo Silvas play lately he is getting to slow and old. Ss to say but in my view its a reality. The younger lads like Savinho, Bobb and Doku has more to their games than Silva. He is old fashion player now.
@@HumbleYute-un7io city wingers never provide much for haaland , this season is no different. they refuse to play the ball to him when they really should, even fairly simple passes. they have no assist to him. you talk about pressing and penelty kicks, what kind of an argument is this in relation to service
@@benjaminarends8964 That isn't disrespecting Mahrez. I am trying to compare his style of play which is similar to Mahrez's. Let's not make Mahrez a god of football. I liked his way of cutting inside and scoring with his left foot. Another player whom we let go and plays like that's Cole Palmer. He could improve and be just as good as Mahrez was. Given that we paid a far cheaper fee for him than we paid for Mahrez and Grealish it would be a great business for City.
Not sure they are so similar. No one has Mahrez's control of the ball which was unbelievable. Savinho is quicker than Mahrez but not sure he will score the same number of goals that Mahrez did. But to early to judge on that one.
@@bernardfox9078 When Mahrez moved to Manchester City, how old was he? These tactics are acquired with experience. Don't forget that Mahrez didn't join Premier League through big teams. He joined through a team which had just been promoted like current Leicester. But Savinho joined Premier League through a big team which could be to his disadvantage because he won't get as many games as Mahrez got at Leicester especially when all players are fit. I am sure if he remains healthy and continue his growth, sky would be the limit.
Don't forget that he has scored against every premier league team since joining City . Are Arsenal , Liverpool,Man Utd,Chelsea, Tottenham small teams ???

I'm afraid that Doku will be the one who suffers when Foden returns. Guardiola would most likely introduce him around the 69th minute of each game. Savinho provides so much for him to be sacrificed. Sure, he still needs to work on not losing the ball.
@@PatrickDanosos That would depend on the opposition. Silva's work rate is very valuable to Pep. He'll always play against opponents who attack and defend with so much energy.
Very happy with the team’s performance, but Rico Lewis deserves a major shout out! He was on fire today and with that performance, I think he’s just put Walker on notice that his spot isn’t guaranteed. Well done! Ps. Haaland’s second goal was a thing of beauty
Silva second to foden! What are you talking about?? This man has never been out of form his entire career. He moves around with the ball left and right and centre breaking opponents position and creating spaces for team mates. Their plays are identical, but silva should always be the first choice in maximum occasion.
Could've easily been 5 or 6. Manchester City were absolutely rampant in the 1st half! Erling seems to have upgraded again. And Savio is brilliant! Credit to Rico Lewis as well. His work rate is outstanding. C'mon CITY!!!🙌💙
@ryanschultz4119 our defenders don't have recovery pace on the counter. The goals we are conceding all have the same pattern. There is something wrong with our defence.
Gundogan is a real poacher! Anyone else sees how he's constantly surveying the field to see where everyone else is then runs in open spaces. There's an animal in the wild that behaves like this.
Just telling u all 😅 dont get mad if u saw foden being benched. There is only 3 players pep wont benched untill they are injured or tired. Kevin de bruyne Rodri Bernardo silva Those 3 are the most matured and intelligent 🧠 pep players who doesnt need any guidance and had entire plan in their mind. Foden and de bruyne at once doesnt works as they arent proper ball winners and loses ball very often. if there is one choice to play de bruyne or foden, kdb will start always
4:54 I'm interested to see where Pep places Foden. that'll be interesting and as Stevie and Ali said it's between Savio and Silva but I think it'll be Savio
The idea that it is a good strategy to challenge if you have success ratio of one out four. Nothing says that you will score a goal the one time your challenge succeeded. Instead it is a very likely that City will concede a goal in one of the three counter attacks. Against teams like Arsenal or Real Madrid that approach would be a disaster.
Its tight coz Pep Cant Bench Foden or Bernado and again Foden doesnt perform well coming from thr wing so foden will surely maintain his spot along side KDB then Bernado will maintain the left. Then now we also have Gundo and Rodri coming. Ifs fucked up..
He will. He was Citys worst player. Hes not playing him at RW over Savino or Foden. And he's not playing in midfield over KDB, Gundo or Kovacic, barring injury.
@@jeanjacqueslundi3502 he was. You see less of the ball because you're not being effective. Look at his ratings. He was like 6.2, nobody else was below 7.3 with the choice between Savio, Foden, KDB, Kovacic and Gundogan. Bernardo is behind all of them.
Haaland is the greatest goal scorer the Premier League has ever seen.. regardless of what the low IQ 🏴 media and critics write, he has twice as many goals as any other striker in the same number of games in history.. If the 🐐 coach stays at Man City, he will break every scoring record in Pep's farmer's league. 💯🔥
Ale is usually my favorite But man 👨🏻 let’s not call ☎️ Haaland an animal 🦒 Like calling a black a monkey 🐒 what’s the difference❕❔ No animal cross reference plz 🩵🤍🩵🤍🩵 Plus why bench Savinho who is literally on fire 🔥 along with Rico Pep will rotate n will bring different players on from the start or the bench The only player(s) that will literally not start…Grealish, Nunes, Mcatee too
He has scored against every team he's ever faced in the premier league and has the most goals vs the big six since he joined. He's simply in a league of his own.
As always the most disingenuous and poorly informed analysis, you've been watching Guardiola for 8 years in the PL and you think managing this much talent is problematic. I pity US fans that this is what they have to put up with.
@nitenshre You need to seriously pay more attention. Haaland has 16 goals and 8 assists in 24 career matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle. Not to mention scoring against the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Leipzig, Sevilla, Besiktas, Lazio, and Napoli. Real Madrid has been his kryptonite to date. Because Haaland has scored against virtually every other top opposition he has ever faced in his career. This whole myth that he doesn’t show up against top teams is nonsense and based on a ridiculously small sample size that people have run with. Haaland is already the 12th leading Champions League knockout stage goal scorer at only 24 ahead of the likes of Mane, Suarez, Neymar, Henry, Salah, Kaka, Eto’o, Torres, Ibrahimovic, Aguero, Del Piero, Morientes, Van Persie, Mandzukic, Griezmann, Tevez, etc.
He scored against Chelsea spurs Liverpool and United last season only reason he didn’t score against arsenal is arsenal parked the bus second game but first game not so well
Another season more City corruption.... City player gets touched on the line, VAR intervenes penalty....Ipswich gets an absolute stone cold penalty, VAR nothing to see here..... And these pundits don't even say anything, every year they get away with terrible calls that gives them a point here, a point there which add up at the end of the season and end up winning the league.... for example Liverpool got robbed 7-8 points (clear cut ones, not even counting the debatable ones) which would have made a difference in the end.... Its an absolute disgrace, if they get away with no punishment for the 115 charges you know its because they have paid for it...
Reading that I'm guessing you're a dippers fan. On the 115, one significant item for you. The EPL wanted Lord Pannick as their legal expert. Sadly for them, City had beaten them to it. Lord Pannick doesn't lose many cases. The world can see the fear in Richard Masters eyes, he knows what's coming.
@kaizen5901 Such an incredibly lazy comment. Haaland has 16 goals and 8 assists in 24 career matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle.
