Kelly jumped at the chance to play against the best of the best while Riley ran off with his tail between his legs. Kelly is savage and is hungry for that trophy.

I was about to give up my season tickets. I’ll hang onto them now. Kelly is a good hire. His professionalism is much needed here after Les and O.

When the "shooting" starts, and you see a guy run toward the shooting, THAT'S the guy you want on your side.

LSU is going to one of the most physically imposing teams in all college football with Kelly. He’s developed All pro offensive lineman, ND’s run games have consistently great, and he’s had many solid defenses.

I felt very sad when Coach Kelly left Grand Valley State (my school)......he did so much for that school......made them a serious player in Division 2.....then, we watched him rise to ND.....re-build that program......become a real winner at ND......I always thought ND was a dream, end-level program/school.......I fell sorry he is leaving ND......but, boy do I wish him well......all the best Brian.....all the best.

The more time the passes and I have more time to think about it, I'm actually getting happier with this hire than I initially did. I think this was one of the best choices we could have made. I wasn't too excited about getting Riley. I think he's gonna change the culture with this team, for the better. We didn't exactly choose him, he chose us cuz he could have filled any of the available coaching spots.

I wanted him last time. I actually wanted never interviewed Aranda this time, but I love Kelly's want to take it to the next level. He said all the right things in the interview with Paul F. I look forward to seeing his impact on the team.

Brian Kelly is a big hire. I wanted Lincoln Riley and was upset we didn't get him. I had no clue where we would turn. I didn't think BK was even available. Great hire LSU!

Kelly has a .795 winning percentage that is second only to Nick Saban. Kelly took over ND after the program had slipped into mediocrity under 3 different coaches, remember Charlie Weiss?. Since then ND has had sustained success at a very high rate and has competed in the BCS National Title or CFP 3 times. He got whipped thoroughly by Bama twice ! Keep that in mind ! Kelly was able to compete for National Championships regularly while having to deal with a roster that was restricted by extremely high academic standards. Imagine what he can do in a recruiting hot bed like Louisiana with reasonable academic restrictions. Kelly is without a doubt a future HOF coach and proven winner. The only missing item on his resume is a National Title and the team that has kept him from it twice at ND is Bama. Bottom line ! The perfect hire for LSU is a proven winner who has a very strong desire to win a National Title and who is driven to get revenge on Bama ! That guy is Brain Kelly ! This is an Outstanding Hire ! Great Job by our AD an those who assisted ! Geaux Tigers ! Forever LSU !

He said it perfectly. It’s just opinions vs facts. My opinions on the age and non flashy nature of the hire do not really make sense when you look at how good this dude actually is. My mind has been changed, this IS a flashy hire to me now.

Kelly is a CEO, a process and top-down coach. Hasn't called the offense in years. And everyone of his coaches that make shit happen in south bend said no to the big payday and plane to Louisiana. I'd be worried about who he brings in to coach both sides of the ball. All his guys, and I mean some LONG-TERM guys, are all in at ND. Time will tell but I'd be worried. I've followed the guy for 12 years. He is a builder and administrator. He is a football CEO. I'm routing for him though!

He is a solid hire knows how to recruit and is competent in getting good hires around him. He is the best hire LSU ever made. With the talent we have on the team now and 22 recruiting class he guarantees 8-10 wins next year. We will be highly competitive in all upcoming games. Give him 2-3 years and we will be competing for a championship. I get it he just cant get the personnel to win a natty. Doubters need to shut up. After 15 years of coaching clowns we have a competent coach.

Correction, he has won a national title or more, he just did it in division two or three with Grand valley state university in Michigan, where he made that team into a national powerhouse and record making and breaking program. So much so that the football stadium where they play in Grand Rapids Michigan is named after him

I'm happy that LSU got Brian Kelly, but I think Early Signing Day should be pushed back by about 2 or 3 weeks. I'm normally Notre Dame's biggest critic. Usually I bitch about them not being in a conference screwing a conference winner's chance of entering the playoff. In this case though, I legit feel bad for their players, but at the same time I understand why he needed to leave because early signing day forced his hand. Seems like this could be avoided if it was pushed back by 3 weeks. I'm certain LSU & Notre Dame won't be the last team to encounter this scenario going forward.

I was so pissed off at Woodward and the LSU Athletic Department and then they pull off Brian Kelly. I thought they got punked and would settle for Stoops. You could not ask for a better hire than Kelly. Woodward deserves praise.

Kelly will fit right in at LSU with his purple face, and yellow streak down his back. His LSU colors will show. The Irish will do great with coaches and players who love Notre Dame and will build on and continue the great tradition of Irish football.

I believe its a better hire than Riley. Riley has his recruiting stamp in the west coast, made sense for him to take the USC job. The connections and the financial stability Riley will have if he can get USC to resemble anything like what Carroll did, USC is a great job and just a fruitful as LSU. For Kelly, he's had success recruiting in the south and everywhere else on the country...yea to ND standards, but those standards have gotten them to a National Title and 2 playoff appearances. Oh yea... and 9 friggin figures and an ego would get most out of their chair. USC didn't call Kelly and that's why he's here.

As an N.D. fan for more than 50 years and have seen a few coaches along the way I believe that Mr. Kelly's frustration over not adding a National Championship to his resume has clouded his judgment. That said, he has moved to a program that runs on a short fuse for coaches to have a building year or two. He will and LSU will regret this bad fit. Time for the LSU athletic director to sharpen his pencil and keep looking. What was regrettable in the N.D.-Kelly divorce case for Mr. Kelly in his walk-a-way decision from a program posed for the next 3 years to remain a football powerhouse. N.D. will fare far better out of this deal as assistant coaches not head coaches make winning football programs. For any of you who hail from the services know sergeants run an army not the general.

His resume is good until you look at head to head in big bowl games. Against top SEC competition, he's got a donut in the win column. He's either going to prove that it was due to being out coached OR due to not having equal quality players compared to SEC talent levels. Hoping it's due to the latter, because not having better players at LSU will not be an excuse now. Let's face it - Kelly knows, at his age, this is probably his last school/program, it's his best chance to win it all & good on him for taking the chance. Geaux Tigers!

The key has always been the same for LSU, stop the flow of 5 starts from leaving the state for other schools. Louisiana has some of the best recruits in the country. However, Les and O couldn’t retain them. Mr Kelly will absolutely need to figure that out!!!!

At last, a REAL football coach who understands the game and how to coach it, a savvy individual who is not a media clown like his last two predecessors. He is exactly what the fan base said it wanted from the very start of this search, if you were paying attention.

Notre Dame plays an easy schedule. He will have to be able to beat much better teams and coaches in the SEC West.

Yeah, I think $100 million over 10 years has something to do with Kelly's departure from ND. Riley, he's getting $110 million from USC. And they bought him a $6 million house in LA. Also USC bought Lincoln's two houses in Norman, at $500 thousand over asking price, for each. No offense, but, Riley would have been a fool to turn down that contract.
