After getting in there and seeing what a tin can it was to begin with and how rusted out and trashed it was, it must’ve been hard to stay motivated to keep going.
Alpina used to be an aspirational sports car. Old gear heads in Europe I knew back in the 90's took great pride that their car was NOT AN M. Today that could never be, anyone that does not have an M car is looked upon as a peasant. It is sad what they have done with Alpina producing only automatic 2 ton sedans. At the very least they could have produced just one 2 door coupe based on the F 2 series with Alpina's custom N55 version twin turbo, and a manual transmission.
I just finished up the major sheet metal work on our 1970 E9, while it was rusty, I can see how much more rusty these early cars can be, I've got over 140 hours in metal fab, and cut, and replace, the body shop i brought it to spent another 100-120 hours completing the rockers, and hanging the front fenders replacing the lower, and aft portions of the fenders, and one lower A pillar, body work prime from bare metal, and ready to finish body work, will let the work settle back before fine tuning it. I myself replaced the floors that were rusted in areas. repaired the rear window frame, then repaired the front inner aprons where the firewall meets the to of the inner fender aprons on both sides. There is no end to what I could have done to the car, but realistically it's good enough for me at this point, can't wait to hear the M30 B32 Euro I have run in this old 2800cs, the B28 is tired but still runs.....!
Beautiful project! It would have been better without the black. Great job! There's one exactly the same color on Broadway in Oakland with a half fast restoration job. It looks very nice in your same color but without the black.

Boîte 5 sport dont le premier rapport long était décalé sur la grille si mes souvenirs sont exacts. Je me souviens que l'examinateur du permis de conduire était vert de jalousie de voir un jeunot passer son permis dans une super caisse. Il n'a pas osé faire de remarque, mon père le surveillait de la banquette arrière.

j'ai eu la 2002 de 1973 ,4 vitesses ,jamais ennuyé ,quand j'ai refait la carrosserie, seul les logements de clignotants avant, étaient perforé et rouillé , se méfier du support moteur inferieur ,il est en fonte et sur la mienne était cassé, à l'achat , sinon RAS :) I had the 2002 from 1973, 4 speed, never bored, when I remade the body, only the front turn signal housings, were perforated and rusty, beware of the lower engine mount, it is cast iron and on mine was broken, when purchased, otherwise RAS :)
