I have always had a problem with tying things in the back and now I can't at all. Which led to the idea of 2 short straps on each side. They could be added into the seam before it's sewn. Then you just tie a bit on the left and a bit on the right. Alternatively, you could put an elastic loop and button on each side, again catching the elastic in the seam. Thank you for such a fun idea.

Yes, it is called a Cobblers Apron and it will be so wonderful to have it function for 4 holidays. I imagine Christmas fabric, thanksgiving and so on.

I absolutely love this apron! One suggestion for that large pocket would be to put a button on both sides & one button hole or plastic snaps on both sides, right in the middle, just to keep it a little closer to the body. Thank you for sharing your time and talents! You are SEW appreciated!

I did the same double button on the one I made a few years ago. With the really cute buttons you can get these days it really perked up the appearance.

This is ideal. I had to throw out half of my tops because I spilt stuff down them or stained them when cooking and cleaning. This tabard is just right because I don't necessarily need much protection below the waist, more on the front and a little way down the sleeves. Your diction, slower speech and simple explanations are excellent.

Just the apron pattern I’ve been looking for!! I wore an apron like this for work, and I loved it because it didn’t pull on my neck. Thank you so much.

I’ve been looking for a pattern, would it work with ties on they sides only. Shorter ties, but one for each side.😊😊

Fabulous! I am an apron-using ranch girl and love collecting patterns and making aprons for myself and others. I find aprons with the narrow neck straps that either tie behind the neck or have the D-ring buckles are very uncomfortable for my neck, so I’m always looking for aprons with “shoulders” and this fits the bill. Here’s a suggestion for securing the pocket gap … instead of using permanent machine stitches, (which prevents the pocket from being able to be turned to the other side) consider using snaps. I guess that’s the ranch girl coming out in me ;) . Hook and loop tape would be another option, but the hooks can be messy and frustrating if they aren’t covered during laundering. I surely enjoy your varied video content as I do all types of sewing. Keep up the good work.

How would you cover the hook n loop tape for laundering?
@hollywaddell6727
@hollywaddell6727 Год назад
@@vickielster3928 Therein lies the question, right? ... One idea would be to keep a separate strip of the soft, fuzzy side (the "loop" in hook & loop) handy to slap over the "hook" side of the tape during laundering. ??? I'm not a big fan of hook & loop. The hook side gathers lint, threads, etc. & becomes ineffective unless effort is made to clean it out. In the words of Piglet, "Oh, bother."

Love this apron! I would use a large colorful snap or a big button and buttonhole for the pocket. Since everyone uses phones what about a pocket at the top to slide your phone in? The chocolate them was right on. Enjoying your channel.

Lovely apron, and Ideal for using some of my excess quilting fabric. I am nearly 5'3" so I may have to shorten the pocket. Wink

O, Laura! This is the kind of apron I want! Think my mom & aunts called it a tabard apron. Grandma may have worn one too (I was only 5 when Grandma passed away) I like this style cause there are no ties to tangle in wash. Thank you so much for the memories & a great pattern!

For my ties, I am making a loop of fabric in the seam at the waist on the front peice, and sewing my ties into the back. The ties will go thru the loops and tie in the front. I may add lightweight interfacing to the pocket for added body. Your tutorials are always top notch and this one is no exception. It is great for me as I cant draft patterns but I like to add my own spin to them. ❤️ My sister in laws will love these!

Amazing! Thank you! I LOVE aprons! I'll have to make one of these too! This would be great with the nice large pockets! My eye was drawn to the 2 treadle sewing machines.... would love to know what they are (brand and model) and if you sew on them much! Have your done a video featuring them....?

Love the apron! I became a viewer during pandemic with your surgical cap video. I made a bunch for my job. I no longer am required to wear them but I have them all! However, at the end of this video you suggest adding stitching on top of pocket to hold in place, but if you do this you wont be able to flip pocket inside, right?
