Great review on an awesome sled. 8000 miles a year riding year after year??? No problem. Most durable sled chassis mated with the most durable snowmobile engine..... Love it.

My old Yamaha SRX 440 kicked everyone butt 1980. Fill up, and go, store away for summer. Rinse/Repeat. My New 2019 Yamaha Sidewinder Kicks everyone butt. Rinse/Repeat. Yamaha products awesome.

Transporter review please. Or even better a utility sled shootout. Transporter/ Norseman, vs. Titan vs. Expedition. Categories must include hauling a wood pile, comfort, 2up ride, breaking trails in Northern Ontario and reliability of the machines and accessories.

Sick of ridding a sled for a handful of years and having to rebuild 2 strokes. Pretty sure this is going to be the sled for me! Just wondering if this has rear heat exchanger since my 2 strokes end up carrying an extra 5 pounds of ice on the back anyway?
@Zeffy55

I think the most simple and great thing on this sled is that tall riser block. I always raise my blocks on every sled

The new Viper’s have the better Mitsubishi ECU in them which should have been the case from day one. Up to this point they had the Cat ecu which turned that motor into a dog. I have ridden both and it’s quite noticeable.
@Zeffy55
@Zeffy55 4 года назад
Tdavid G pretty far fetched to call it a dog, there was just some starting issues with the cat ecu

crashingkid Compared to an Apex it is. Compared to the Nytro that the engine was in previously it is. Been riding Yamaha’s for years, I have driven the Vipers more than once and up to this point it felt slow. I have a Sidewinder and an Apex Ltx both setup well. Have had SRX’s, 700 SX’s you name it....the Viper with the Cat ignition feels flat. The one I drove with the Yamaha engineered Mitsubishi ignition was decent.
@Zeffy55
@Zeffy55 4 года назад
Tdavid G Can’t compare the Apex to the Viper that’s a totally different engine. As for the Nytro from my experience it’s on par with the Viper. Pretty even racing them across the lake
@tdavidg9176

crashingkid Not my experiences, have buddies with both and the Nytro is stronger.

Pro cross chassis will never see another sled of the year win. I hope textron and Yamaha work together closely to produce the next generation chassis. Really disappointed in the pro cross, I believe my 2012 1100 turbo was a downgrade from my 2008 f1000. In fact I KNOW it was. In many respects from comfort, ease of servicing, reliability, safety, etc. I rode my buddies 2020 cat just to be sure, he rode my 2012. We both came to the same conclusion, no need to upgrade for me. Not gaining anything. Unless something changes, I will be visiting poo or doo showrooms I think the final straw for me on my pro cross is when the steering Broke last weekend. Granted I have 10,000 miles on it but country cat updated that steering years ago and it broke Again. You ever lose your steering on a high performance snowmobile? Pro cross is good looking though.

For 2021 you should shootout the Viper against other 600s.

I would not trade my 1049 for nothing. 7200 miles still hammers. However mines little more then 125 hp more around 195 hp. wish they would of put the turbo on the viper this year??? Wonder how the 998 would hold up to the 1049 if they were side by side and both had turbos???? Also vipers not in the 600 class o maybe this one.

If I ever decide to trade my 2013 Venture TF I’ll probably go with this.... then again how does one justify 17-18 k when I only have time to put 1500-2000 km on a sled each winter ... if we have a winter.
