Good review - thanks. Interesting pieces of kit - looks like they're top quality and Fotopro have thought of most things. Lots of nice touches! I'll look into this for a lighter-weight alternative to my Gitzo tripod and Wimberley gimbal - although I won't get rid of them just yet because they're bomb proof under the toughest conditions! I also use the Wimberley flash bracket - and I don't think this will mount to the Fotopro gimbal, so I don't want to lose that capability. I'm not sure about the silver and red flashes on this rig - I might do something about that in case it spooks some of the most skittish wildlife (I've had that happen before with some tripod/head combinations - but to be fair they were a lot worse than this). I don't think I'd ever use the side-mount option or the panning handle, but it still looks like a good set-up. They've probably made the hook removable to get it out of the way if you go to ground level - a very nice touch which some manufacturers overlook. One question though - can you remove the feet completely (rubber and claw elements) and put spikes on? Thanks for a very comprehensive review.
Thanks for watching Mike, For me I love the Gitzo products and they have never let me down but the price is high! These are of equal quality with the further weight saving which for me is key, getting older every bit helps. The Wimberly is also superb but so heavy and bulky, the Eagle series is much more compact and saves on the weight. There are attachments for additional accessories like external screens, mics, flashes etc on the tripod itself, but not on the head. I'm with you on the colour bit but I will use my Camo leg wraps to hide that and offer protection for the Carbon legs so they don't get bashed and damaged, I didn't in the review as I wanted to show the tripod off without hiding the look of it. Once you remove the rubber caps you cannot remove the extra teeth grips, they are fixed in position. I hope that helps, its a great setup and the weight saved is welcome. Cheers Rich 👍
Top Drawer What's the weight of the tripod ?? looks heavy and with a manfrotto head on it i reckon it be the same weight as my Benro mach 3 . Does it weigh less than your current tripod ??

I haven’t used a full gimbal only the Wimberly Sidekick, but I thought to balance properly the lens had to sit with its centre line at the pivot point height, this gimbal looks a tad short with the lens centre line sitting above the pivot point, making it “top heavy”??
Hi there, With my Wimberley I never got it centred perfectly and it was off center but still worked a treat. I see what you mean, with my R3 and R7 it sits much more to the centre but on a lump like the DX3 that weighs so much more adjustments are needed, can't get the balance point perfect every time, but for me it works and does what it needs too.
