I'm a sucker for Pelham blue. This thing sounds amazing. Like you said, rosewood on this guitar just makes sense. I wouldn't even mind Richlite or some other engineered hardwood. I prefer darker fretboards personally.
Great video. Im a Gibson guy through and through. Last weekend I took a chance and bought a 2022 Alpine White Epiphone Les Paul Custom with the intent of gutting it. I am shocked by the quality of the guitar. It’s crazy to me that a guitar can be built to be 90-95% of its Gibson counterpart. Going to change out the pickups, wiring, switch/ jack and bridge. All in should be $1,200 (guitar and swap outs). It’s nuts. I would love to see you do a video on Epiphone Custom and see if you can get it close to the real deal Gibson and see your thoughts. You are one of the few RU-vid guitar guys opinions I trust. lol!
Haha! Only the bottom two are mine. The white one is a 2004 and the bottom one is a blueface spec 2002. The third is a 2022. It's my friend's that's on loan for a video I'm working on.
Question? Is that a Marshall AFD100 that you’re playing through? If so, how did you dial that thing in? You literally made a Slash amp do not so Slash things, (In a good way). Killer Tone!
Yeah an AFD100 in #34 mode. Settings as follows: Power - 10 (Lower this, not the Master for your actual sound level) Presence - 5 Bass - 5 Middle - 6 Treble 4 Master - 8 Gain - 10 Set your guitar volume control to 7. That’s your baseline crunch sound. Turn up to 10 for solos with more gain and brightness that really cut. Cleaner tones are between 1-3 on your guitar volume. I made a video about this here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x_N9MqoQgh0.htmlsi=Rg_XZFfFgZCQCmUw
I’m curious about the neck profile. I had a regular epiphone 339 in Pelham blue and I couldn’t get used to the “D” shape neck profile, unfortunately had to sell it
Got mine and went the full nylon saddles Bone nut on it hahaha I friggin love it, not because its DG ( well kind of) but its a FANTASTIC guitar, plays phenomenal ( also gonna throw a washer or 2 under and lower the pots)
I was late to the ordering process as I work away from home a fair bit, and missed the first orders. I currently have a prepaid order and they say the end of August so I have to wait for a while. It is going to be along wait for but at least i have the epi 59 with the same pickups in it.
wheres the Carsten Grace?!? I just bought one and it showed up but Im away so I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I was looking forward to some more videos on it.
How can you NOT mention the angle the strings are in going from nut to tuners. The Gibson is straight through. Even Chibsons are straight through. This Epiphone has a bad angle that doesn’t run straight and this is what leads to all the stress cracks you see on these guitars. Look around
Dangit, I wanted you to say it was crap. I am a Gibson guy. I don't know why, but I just enjoy Gibson style guitars more than Fender or PRS. But most of the Epiphones I have I did not bond with. Also I agree Epiphone setups are particularly bad. I think my biggest gripe with some of the premium Epiphones are some of the smaller specs. I do think they should have tried to use rosewood on a guitar that expensive. Personally I think the newer Epiphone Adam Jones is better than the art series because of the headstock and the burst on the back. I say that as someone who bought one of the original run.
I feel you. I've never had an Epiphone that I've liked this much, either. Agreed that I wish they would have used rosewood and I agree about the new AJ too. I wasn't a fan of the art series... that weird Epiphone headstock and I wasn't crazy about the art.
@@CaptainCraigKWMRZI disagree. After 20 or 30 years, the money you saved will be meaningless. Also buying a guitar is also about buying a vibe and an emotional attachment . It’s not always about saving money
I bought one of these about 4 years ago from China. It says made in USA, and "Gibson" on the headstock. It plays fine and I have gigged it more than 50 times. Lot's of compliments. I did have the electronics upgraded. No issues. It came with a decent hardshell case for a total of less than $350. Who's the sucker?
