Here's my first TfL visual in a while!
The 80 is an interesting route, partly because it serves a fairly unusual set of locations. The route starts at HMP High Down/Downview, a pair of prisons that are both (technically) in Surrey, meaning this route technically is a cross-border route, even if it only actually serves one stop in Surrey. The route then serves the Belmont to Sutton corridor, in tandem with the TfL 280 and S1, but also with the Metrobus 420/820.
After passing through Sutton town centre's one-way system, the route then takes on a more local role, with the 80 being the primary, and in some areas only, 'full-service' route in parts of West Sutton and Benhilton. Key sites served within this portion of the route include Sutton bus garage, a Tesco Extra, and Glenthorne High School.
The route then serves the A24 corridor for two kilometres into Morden central bus hub, at the Northern line station. This corridor is also served by the 93, the trunk route here, and roughly half is also served by the 154 to Croydon. In this direction, the route serves the forecourt at Morden Tube station, which is where a 'switch' of passengers takes place, with few people travelling through Morden between the two, rather unequally divided, sides of the route.
The route then continues down the Morden-Rosehill corridor along the A297 dual-carriageway, shared with the 164, which is the direct route from Wimbledon and Morden to Sutton, and the 157 which parallels this part of the route, eventually providing links to Carshalton, Wallington, and Croydon. The route turns off 500m before Rose Hill Roundabout to provide the only service along Middleton Road, providing this area with a direct link to Morden and the Tube. The route turns off Middleton Road at a small, local shopping parade in Green Wrythe, onto Green Wrythe Lane. A small section of this corridor is also served by the 151, another local service radiating from the Sutton Area towards either Wallington or Worcester Park.
Finally, the route turns on to Culvers Avenue, where the 80 is the sole service. The primary site along this section of the route is the Riverside Centre, including numerous flats and a convenience store. Just beyond is the route's official terminus at Reynolds Close, although buses continue on to Reynolds Close itself in order to turn around using a circular residential road. The terminus is next to the River Wandle, where there is a long-distance walking trail, with a bridge also available providing links to Hackbridge station and local shops, with indirect connections also available to bus routes 127 and 151.
