The heavy rubber wedge on the subframe is a mass damper. Designed to help remove harmonic resonance on a stock vehicle. Since yours is not so stock anymore, get rid of that 5lbs!

On the other hand, the damper often serves a purpose -- Sarah mentioned that her ebay exhaust had a drone at 3000 rpm which might have been resolved with a damper. The new system probably has its own harmonic somewhere, might also be able to use a damper. Yes, probably with different weight, but maybe that old one could be useful?

Great video, Sarah. I think the new exhaust system is much nicer than the other one. It's amazing to me to see snow in Arizona. That's so rare. I always enjoy your enthusiasm for what you're doing. Keep up the great work. Love your channel.

Who needs snow plows, just get more MR2s on the road! Looked like fun! Great video and well done putting it out so quick! The Berk sounded much more mature, deeper note, less rasp, just a all around better sound profile. Once you're able to get him on the highway, we need to know if that drone is completely gone.

2nd best sounding Mr2 I've heard. It sounds like a tamed down Srt-4, the best sounding one I heard had the muffler cut out right after the y-pipe and it had two turn downs. It was loud but sounded good.

It's crazy how much snow we got today! I got to have some fun in my S52 swapped E34 wagon. New MR2 exhaust sounds great, and the graphite gasket looked perfect to reuse. The car just needs some wheels (and more low lol) and it'll be perfect!

i know it's 11 months ago "Full Send in the Snow! " but donuts in the snow is one of my favorite things! i buried a few cars in snow banks over the years getting a bit carried away. never could quite get 3 full revs but fun trying! thank you! hugs!

That triangle is to absorb vibrations. You can remove it since you're using an aftermarket exhaust 👍Loved the vid Sarah!

Looks and sounds way better. Those 2s are pretty good in the snow due to the weight distro. Drove one in heavy snow passing through Reno with no issues.

Weight is all over the driving wheels. Gives great traction in the snow. My D’s the same, surprisingly good in the snow. Mr Dos is sounding great👍

Yeah my 88 Mr2 was actually good in snow just will plow toward the curb if you take turns too quick cause it's so light up front. I had a Monza exhaust on that thing was so loud but sounded awesome.

Just stumbled upon this video & subscribed. As a decade long MR2 & Berk exhaust owner who has always stored the MR2 during the winter, it was a treat to see this MR2 having fun in the snow. Regarding the Berk exhaust... the best exhaust for the sw20! Designed by MR2 owners for MR2 owners.

Only 6 minutes in, so haven't heard the Berk yet, but the biggest difference I see with those is where it splits between the mufflers, that smooth Y vs the T joint in the old one should make a measurable difference in flow. That style gasket is fine to reuse, as long as it's not damaged, your's looked fine. I wouldn't question that at all. Over time and heat cycles, that style will separate, and leave pieces of the outer layers on the exhaust flanges, it will look like it's missing pieces, that is when you need a new one.

I had a first gen and a second gen and miss both of them it sounds really good I would imagine since the motor is so far back it's like an old bug you would get good traction. I have said since day one this has been my favorite project car of yours

Sara, your rubber triangle is a dampener or NVH (Noise, Vaibration, Harshness, yes the more technical term, you know something you can throw around at cars and coffee) treatment.

Call me crazy, but driven under anger, higher loads, I like the ebay exhaust more. However the Berk exhaust sounds much nicer at idle and lower loads. Great video!

My MR2 was amazing in the snow, especially with winter tires and about 50lbs of sand filled inner tubes up front to help put weight on the front wheels.

I think that rubber piece is for a crash isolator. In the event of a rear impact, the fuel tank would be pushed into sharp bolts or surfaces that may puncture the fuel tank. That piece will shroud or cover the path which leads to potential puncturing surfaces.

It is a vibration damper and can be removed. Remove it and take Mr. Dos for a ride, if you don’t like it put it back on. I really enjoy your videos, they are funny, witty, intelligent and informative. Thanks for putting a smile on my face Sarah! :)

Sounds so much better. Girl you had to much fun 😂 I miss having rear wheel powered cars, most cars here have front wheel drives. It just doesn't give the same fun
